1В Кесарии жил человек по имени Корнилий. Он был сотником из полка, который назывался Италийским.At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion in what was called the Italian Regiment.

2Это был благочестивый человек, который боялся Бога. Он со всей своей семьёй делал много добра людям и всегда молился Богу.He and all his household were devout and God-fearing. He gave generously to the people and prayed to God regularly.

3Около девятого часа дня в видении он ясно видел ангела Бога, который вошёл к нему и сказал:«Корнилий!»One day at about the ninth hour, he had a clear vision of an angel of God who came to him and said, “Cornelius!”

4Тот посмотрел на него и, испугавшись, спросил:«Что, Господь?» Ангел ответил:«Бог вспомнил о твоих молитвах и твоих добрых делах.Cornelius stared at him in fear and asked, “What is it, Lord?” The angel answered, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have ascended as a memorial offering before God.

5Итак, пошли в Иоппию людей за Симоном, которого называют Петром.Now send men to Joppa to call for a man named Simon who is called Peter.

6Он гостит у Симона кожевенника в доме у моря. Он скажет тебе слова, через которые спасёшься ты и весь твой дом».He is staying with Simon the tanner, whose house is by the sea.”

7Когда ангел, который говорил с Корнилием, ушёл, то он, позвал двоих своих слуг и благочестивого воина, который находился при нём.When the angel who spoke to him had gone, Cornelius called two of his servants and a devout soldier from among his attendants.

8Корнилий пересказал им всё и послал их в Иоппию.He explained what had happened and sent them to Joppa.

9На следующий день, когда они шли и приближались к городу, около шести часов Пётр поднялся помолиться на крышу дома.The next day at about the sixth hour, as the men were approaching the city on their journey, Peter went up on the roof to pray.

10Он проголодался и захотел есть. Между тем, пока готовили пищу, он пришёл в исступлениеHe became hungry and wanted something to eat, but while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance.

11и увидел открытое небо и спускающийся к нему какой- то предмет. Этот предмет был похож на большое полотно, словно ткань, привязанная за четыре угла и опускаемая на землю.He saw heaven open and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners.

12В нём находились все земные четвероногие, звери, пресмыкающиеся и небесные птицы.It contained all kinds of four-footed animals and reptiles of the earth, as well as birds of the air.

13Голос сказал Петру:«Пётр, встань, заколи и ешь».Then a voice said to him: “Get up, Peter, kill and eat!”

14Но Пётр сказал:«Нет, Господь, я никогда не ел ничего нечистого и осквернённого».“No, Lord!” Peter answered. “I have never eaten anything impure or unclean.”

15Тогда голос второй раз сказал ему:«Что Бог очистил, того ты не считай нечистым».The voice spoke to him a second time: “Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.”

16Так было три раза, и полотно тут же было поднято на небо.This happened three times, and all at once the sheet was taken back up into heaven.

17Пётр терялся в догадках, что бы могло значить это видение, которое он видел. В этот момент люди, которых послал Корнилий, расспросили о доме Симона и остановились у ворот.While Peter was puzzling over the meaning of the vision, the men sent by Cornelius found Simon’s house and approached the gate.

18Они громко спросили:«Здесь ли Симон, которого называют Петром?»They called out to ask if Simon called Peter was staying there.

19Когда Пётр размышлял о видении, Дух сказал ему:«Тебя ищут три человека.As Peter continued to reflect on the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three men are looking for you.

20Встань, спустись, пойди с ними и ни в чём не сомневайся, потому что это Я послал их».So get up! Go downstairs and accompany them without hesitation, because I have sent them.”

21Пётр спустился к людям, которых прислал Корнилий, и сказал:«Я тот, кого вы ищете. Зачем вы пришли?»So Peter went down to the men and said, “Here am I, the one you are looking for. Why have you come?”

22Они сказали:«Сотник Корнилий, добродетельный и боящийся Бога человек, которого одобряет весь иудейский народ, получил указание от святого ангела позвать тебя в свой дом и послушать твои слова».“Cornelius the centurion has sent us,” they said. “He is a righteous and God-fearing man with a good reputation among the whole Jewish nation. A holy angel instructed him to request your presence in his home so he could hear a message from you.”

23Тогда Пётр пригласил их войти и с радостью принял. На другой день он встал и пошёл с ними и с некоторыми братьями из Иоппии.So Peter invited them in as his guests. And the next day he got ready and went with them, accompanied by some of the brothers from Joppa.

24Они пришли в Кесарию на следующий день. Корнилий позвал своих родственников и близких друзей и ждал их.The following day he arrived in Caesarea, where Cornelius was expecting them and had called together his relatives and close friends.

25Когда Пётр входил, Корнилий встречая его, упал перед ним на колени и поклонился.As Peter was about to enter, Cornelius met him and fell at his feet to worship him.

26Пётр же поднял его и сказал:«Встань, я тоже человек».But Peter helped him up. “Stand up,” he said, “I am only a man myself.”

27Разговаривая с Корнилием, Пётр вошёл в дом и увидел много собравшихся.As Peter talked with him, he went inside and found many people gathered together.

28Он сказал им:«Вы знаете, что иудею запрещено общаться с язычниками или приближаться к ним. Но Бог мне открыл, чтобы ни одного человека я не считал осквернённым или нечистым.He said to them, “You know how unlawful it is for a Jew to associate with a foreigner or visit him. But God has shown me that I should not call any man impure or unclean.

29Поэтому, когда меня пригласили, я пришёл без возражений. Итак, спрашиваю: для чего вы меня позвали?»So when I was invited, I came without objection. I ask, then, why have you sent for me?”

30Корнилий сказал:«Четыре дня прошло с тех пор как я постился. И когда я в девятом часу молился в своём доме, передо мной стал человек в светлой одеждеCornelius answered: “Four days ago I was in my house praying at this, the ninth hour. Suddenly a man in radiant clothing stood before me

31и сказал:" Корнилий! Твоя молитва услышана, и Бог вспомнил о твоих добрых делах.and said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your gifts to the poor have been remembered before God.

32Отправь в Иоппию людей и позови Симона, которого называют Петром. Он гостит у Симона кожевенника в доме у моря. Он придёт и всё скажет тебе".Therefore send to Joppa for Simon, who is called Peter. He is a guest in the home of Simon the tanner, by the sea.’

33Я сразу же послал за тобой, и ты хорошо сделал, что пришёл. Теперь мы все стоим перед Богом, чтобы выслушать всё, что сказано тебе от Бога».So I sent for you immediately, and you were kind enough to come. Now then, we are all here in the presence of God to listen to everything the Lord has instructed you to tell us.”

34Пётр сказал:«Истинно познаю, что Бог справедливый,Then Peter began to speak: “I now truly understand that God does not show favoritism,

35и в любом народе тот, кто боится Его и делает добрые дела, приятен Богу.but welcomes those from every nation who fear Him and do what is right.

36Он послал сыновьям Израиля слово, рассказывая Радостную Весть о мире через Иисуса Христа. Он— Господь всех.He has sent this message to the people of Israel, proclaiming the gospel of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.

37Вы знаете, что стало происходить по всей Иудее, начиная с Галилеи, после крещения, которое проповедовал Иоанн.You yourselves know what has happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee with the baptism that John proclaimed:

38И также знаете, как Бог Святым Духом и силой помазал Иисуса из Назарета. Он ходил, делал добрые дела и исцелял всех, кто был одержим дьяволом, потому что Бог был с Ним.how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, because God was with Him.

39И мы свидетели всего того, что Он сделал в Иудее и в Иерусалиме, и что Его убили, повесив на кресте.We are witnesses of all that He did, both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem. And although they put Him to death by hanging Him on a tree,

40Но Бог воскресил Его на третий день и дал Ему являтьсяGod raised Him up on the third day and caused Him to be seen—

41не всему народу, но нам, свидетелям, которые ранее были избраны Богом и которые ели и пили с Ним после Его воскресения из мёртвых.not by all the people, but by the witnesses God had chosen beforehand, by us who ate and drank with Him after He rose from the dead.

42Он велел нам проповедовать людям и свидетельствовать о том, что Он и есть избранный Богом Судья живых и мёртвых.And He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that He is the One appointed by God to judge the living and the dead.

43О Нём свидетельствуют все пророки, что каждый, кто верит в Него, получит прощение грехов через Его имя.All the prophets testify about Him that everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins through His name.”

44Когда Пётр говорил, на всех, кто слушал слово, сошёл Святой Дух.While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who heard his message.

45Верующие, которые пришли с Петром, были из обрезанных. Они удивились тому, что дар Святого Духа излился и на язычников.All the circumcised believers who had accompanied Peter were astounded that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles.

46Ведь они слышали, как те говорили на языках и прославляли Бога. Тогда Пётр сказал:For they heard them speaking in tongues and exalting God. Then Peter said,

47«Кто может запретить креститься в воде тем, кто получил Святого Духа, как и мы?“Can anyone withhold the water to baptize these people? They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have!”

48И Пётр сказал им креститься во имя Иисуса Христа. После этого они просили его остаться у них на несколько дней.So he ordered that they be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay for a few days.
