1Слово, которое было к Иеремии от Господа:This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD:

2"Встань и войди в дом горшечника, и там Я сообщу тебе Мои слова".“Go down at once to the potter’s house, and there I will give you My message.”

3Когда я пришёл в дом горшечника, он делал свою работу на гончарном круге.So I went down to the potter’s house and saw him working at the wheel.

4Сосуд, который горшечник делал из глины, развалился в его руке. Тогда он сделал из него другой сосуд, какой горшечнику захотелось сделать.But the vessel that he was shaping from the clay became flawed in his hand; so he formed it into another vessel, as it seemed best for him to do.

5И было слово Господа ко мне:Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

6"Разве я не могу поступить с вами, дом Израиля, как этот горшечник?— говорит Господь.— Что глина в руке горшечника, то вы в Моей руке, дом Израиля.“O house of Israel, declares the LORD, can I not treat you as this potter treats his clay? Just like clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel.

7Иногда Я говорю о каком-либо народе или царстве, что искореню, разрушу и уничтожу его.At any time I might announce that a nation or kingdom will be uprooted, torn down, and destroyed.

8Но если этот народ, о котором Я это сказал, отвернётся от своих злых дел, то Я отменю то зло, которое задумал сделать ему.But if that nation I warned turns from its evil, then I will relent of the disaster I had planned to bring.

9А иногда говорю о каком-либо народе или царстве, что устрою и укреплю его.And if at another time I announce that I will build up and establish a nation or kingdom,

10Но если он будет делать зло передо Мной и не слушаться Моего голоса, то Я отменю то добро, которым Я хотел одарить его.and if it does evil in My sight and does not listen to My voice, then I will relent of the good I had intended for it.

11Итак, скажи мужчинам Иуды и жителям Иерусалима: "Так говорит Господь: "Я готовлю вам зло и замышляю против вас. Итак, отвернитесь каждый от своего злого пути и исправьте ваши пути и ваши поступки".Now therefore, tell the men of Judah and the residents of Jerusalem that this is what the LORD says: ‘Behold, I am planning a disaster for you and devising a plan against you. Turn now, each of you, from your evil ways, and correct your ways and deeds.’

12Но они скажут: "Не надейся. Мы будем жить по своим помыслам и каждый будем поступать по упорству своего злого сердца".But they will reply, ‘It is hopeless. We will follow our own plans, and each of us will act according to the stubbornness of his evil heart.’”

13Поэтому так говорит Господь: "Спросите у народов, слышал ли кто подобное этому? Очень мерзкие дела совершила девственница Израиля.Therefore this is what the LORD says: “Inquire among the nations: Who has ever heard things like these? Virgin Israel has done a most terrible thing.

14Разве снег Ливана покидает скалистые места? Истощаются ли холодные воды, текущие из других мест?Does the snow of Lebanon ever leave its rocky slopes? Or do its cool waters flowing from a distance ever run dry?

15А Мой народ оставил Меня. Они кадят мерзостям, споткнулись на своих путях, оставили древние пути, чтобы ходить по тропам непроложенного пути,Yet My people have forgotten Me. They burn incense to worthless idols that make them stumble in their ways, leaving the ancient roads to walk on rutted bypaths instead of on the highway.

16чтобы свою землю сделать ужасом, вечным посмешищем, так, что каждый, проходящий мимо неё, ужаснётся, покачает своей головой.They have made their land a desolation, a perpetual object of scorn; all who pass by will be appalled and shake their heads.

17Словно восточным ветром, Я развею их перед врагом. В день их бедствия Я повернусь к ним спиной, а не лицом".I will scatter them before the enemy like the east wind. I will show them My back and not My face in the day of their calamity.”

18А они сказали: "Придите, составим заговор против Иеремии, ведь не исчез Закон у священника, совет у мудрого и слово у пророка. Придите, сразим его языком и не будем слушать его слов".Then some said, “Come, let us make plans against Jeremiah, for the law will never be lost to the priest, nor counsel to the wise, nor an oracle to the prophet. Come, let us denounce him and pay no heed to any of his words.”

19Господь, обрати внимание на меня и услышь голос моих противников.Attend to me, O LORD. Hear what my accusers are saying!

20Разве положено платить злом за добро? А они роют яму моей душе. Вспомни, что я стою перед Тобой, чтобы говорить за них доброе и отвернуть от них Твой гнев.Should good be repaid with evil? Yet they have dug a pit for me. Remember how I stood before You to speak good on their behalf, to turn Your wrath from them.

21Итак, отдай их сыновей на голод и подвергни их мечу, их жёны пусть будут бездетными и вдовами, а их мужья пусть будут поражены смертью, их юноши— убиты мечом на войне.Therefore, hand their children over to famine; pour out the power of the sword upon them. Let their wives become childless and widowed; let their husbands be slain by disease, their young men struck down by the sword in battle.

22Пусть из их домов будет слышен вопль, когда внезапно приведёшь на них полки, потому что они роют яму, чтобы поймать меня, и тайно расставили сети для моих ног.Let a cry be heard from their houses when You suddenly bring raiders against them, for they have dug a pit to capture me and have hidden snares for my feet.

23Но Ты, Господь, знаешь все их замыслы против меня, чтобы убить меня. Не прощай их преступлений и грехов не стирай перед Тобой. Пусть они будут сброшены перед Тобой. Поступи с ними так во время Твоего гнева.But You, O LORD, know all their deadly plots against me. Do not wipe out their guilt or blot out their sin from Your sight. Let them be overthrown before You; deal with them in the time of Your anger.
