Because you people have sinned against the LORD and have not obeyed His voice, this thing has happened to you.

4Сегодня я освобождаю тебя от цепей, которые на твоих руках. Если хочешь пойти со мной в Вавилон, иди, и я позабочусь о тебе, а если не хочешь пойти со мной в Вавилон— оставайся. Вся земля перед тобой: куда тебе угодно и куда нравится идти— туда и иди».But now, behold, I am freeing you today from the chains that were on your wrists. If it pleases you to come with me to Babylon, then come, and I will take care of you. But if it seems wrong to you to come with me to Babylon, go no farther. Look, the whole land is before you. Wherever it seems good and right to you, go there.”

5Не успел Иеремия отойти, как Навузардан добавил: «Возвращайся к Годолии, сыну Ахикама, внуку Сафана, которого вавилонский царь поставил над иудейскими городами, и живи с ним среди народа. Или иди, куда тебе нравится идти». Начальник телохранителей дал Иеремии продовольствие с подарком и отпустил его.But before Jeremiah turned to go, Nebuzaradan added, “Return to Gedaliah son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon has appointed over the cities of Judah, and stay with him among the people, or go anywhere else that seems right.” Then the captain of the guard gave him a ration and a gift and released him.

6Иеремия пришёл в Массифу к Годолии, сыну Ахикама, и жил с ним среди народа, остававшегося в земле.So Jeremiah went to Gedaliah son of Ahikam at Mizpah and stayed with him among the people who were left in the land.

7Когда все военачальники и их люди, которые были в поле, услышали, что вавилонский царь поставил Годолию, сына Ахикама, начальником над землёй и поручил ему мужчин, женщин, детей и тех бедняков земли, которые не были уведены в Вавилон,—When all the commanders and men of the armies in the field heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedaliah son of Ahikam over the land and that he had put him in charge of the men, women, and children who were the poorest of the land and had not been exiled to Babylon,

8тогда пришли к Годолии в Массифу Исмаил, сын Нафании, Иоанан и Ионафан, сыновья Карея, Сераия, сын Фанасмефа, сыновья Офи из Нетофафы, Иезония, сын Махафы,— они и их люди.they came to Gedaliah at Mizpah—Ishmael son of Nethaniah, Johanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, Seraiah son of Tanhumeth, the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah son of the Maacathite—they and their men.

9Годолия, сын Ахикама, внук Сафана, клялся им и их людям, говоря: «Не бойтесь служить халдеям, оставайтесь в земле и служите вавилонскому царю, и вам будет хорошо.Gedaliah son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, swore an oath to them and their men, assuring them, “Do not be afraid to serve the Chaldeans. Live in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it will go well with you.

10А я останусь в Массифе, чтобы стоять перед халдееями, которые будут приходить к нам, а вы собирайте вино, летние плоды и масло. Собирайте их в ваши сосуды и живите в ваших городах, которыми вы завладели».As for me, I will stay in Mizpah to represent you before the Chaldeans who come to us. As for you, gather wine grapes, summer fruit, and oil, place them in your storage jars, and live in the cities you have taken.”

11Все иудеи, которые находились в земле Моав, среди сыновей Аммона, в Идумее и во всех землях, услышали, что вавилонский царь оставил часть иудеев и поставил над ними Годолию, сына Ахикама, внука Сафана.When all the Jews in Moab, Ammon, Edom, and all the other lands heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant in Judah and had appointed Gedaliah son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, over them,

12Все иудеи вернулись отовсюду, куда были изгнаны. Они пришли в иудейскую землю в Массифу, к Годолии и собрали очень много вина и летних плодов.they all returned from all the places to which they had been banished and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah at Mizpah. And they gathered an abundance of wine grapes and summer fruit.

13Между тем Иоанан, сын Карея, и все военачальники, которые были в поле, пришли к Годолии в МассифуMeanwhile, Johanan son of Kareah and all the commanders of the armies in the field came to Gedaliah at Mizpah

14и сказали ему: «Знаешь ли ты, что Ваалис, царь сыновей Аммона, прислал Исмаила, сына Нафании, чтобы убить тебя»? Но Годолия, сын Ахикама, не поверил им.and said to him, “Are you aware that Baalis king of the Ammonites has sent Ishmael son of Nethaniah to take your life?” But Gedaliah son of Ahikam did not believe them.

15Тогда Иоанан, сын Карея, тайно сказал Годолии в Массифе: «Позволь мне, я пойду и убью Исмаила, сына Нафании, и никто не узнает. Зачем допускать, чтобы он убил тебя, чтобы все иудеи, собравшиеся к тебе, рассеялись, и чтобы погиб остаток Иуды?»Then Johanan son of Kareah spoke privately to Gedaliah at Mizpah. “Let me go and kill Ishmael son of Nethaniah,” he said. “No one will know it. Why should he take your life and scatter all the people of Judah who have gathered to you, so that the remnant of Judah would perish?”

16Но Годолия, сын Ахикама, сказал Иоанану, сыну Карея: «Не делай этого, потому что ты говоришь неправду об Исмаиле».But Gedaliah son of Ahikam said to Johanan son of Kareah, “Do not do such a thing! What you are saying about Ishmael is a lie.”
