1Зови! Но есть ли тот, кто ответит тебе? К кому из святых ты обратишься?“Call out if you please, but who will answer? To which of the holy ones will you turn?

2Гнев убивает глупца, и раздражительность губит наивного.For resentment kills a fool, and envy slays the simple.

3Я видел, как глупец укореняется, и тотчас проклял его дом.I have seen a fool taking root, but suddenly his house was cursed.

4Его дети далеки от счастья, их будут бить у ворот, и не будет у них защитника.His sons are far from safety, crushed in court without a defender.

5Его урожай съест голодный, заберёт его даже из колючек, и жаждущие проглотят его имущество.The hungry consume his harvest, taking it even from the thorns, and the thirsty pant after his wealth.

6Не из пыли поднимается горе и не из земли вырастает беда,For distress does not spring from the dust, and trouble does not sprout from the ground.

7но человек рождается для страдания, как искры, чтобы устремляться вверх.Yet man is born to trouble as surely as sparks fly upward.

8Но я бы обратился к Богу, отдал бы моё дело Богу,However, if I were you, I would appeal to God and lay my cause before Him—

9Который творит великие и непостижимые дела, неисчислимые чудеса,the One who does great and unsearchable things, wonders without number.

10даёт на землю дождь и посылает воду на поля.He gives rain to the earth and sends water upon the fields.

11Униженных ставит на высоту, и скорбящие возносятся в спасение.He sets the lowly on high, so that mourners are lifted to safety.

12Он разрушает замыслы коварных, и их руки не завершают дела.He thwarts the schemes of the crafty, so that their hands find no success.

13Он улавливает мудрецов их же лукавством, и совет хитрых становится бесполезным,He catches the wise in their craftiness, and sweeps away the plans of the cunning.

14днём они встречают тьму и в полдень ходят наощупь, как ночью.They encounter darkness by day and grope at noon as in the night.

15Он спасает бедного от меча, от их ртов и от руки сильного.He saves the needy from the sword in their mouth and from the clutches of the powerful.

16Есть несчастному надежда, и ложь закроет свой рот.So the poor have hope, and injustice shuts its mouth.

17Счастлив человек, которого Бог делает разумным, и поэтому не отвергай наказания Вседержителя,Blessed indeed is the man whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.

18ведь если Он ранит, то Сам и перевязывает раны. Он поражает, и Его же руки исцеляют.For He wounds, but He also binds; He strikes, but His hands also heal.

19В шести бедах спасёт тебя, и в седьмой не коснётся тебя зло.He will rescue you from six calamities; no harm will touch you in seven.

20Во время голода тебя избавит от смерти, на войне— от меча.In famine He will redeem you from death, and in battle from the stroke of the sword.

21От бича языка укроешься, не испугаешься опустошения, когда оно придёт.You will be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, and will not fear havoc when it comes.

22Над опустошением и голодом посмеёшься, земных зверей не испугаешься,You will laugh at destruction and famine, and need not fear the beasts of the earth.

23потому что с полевыми камнями у тебя союз, и полевые звери с тобой в мире.For you will have a covenant with the stones of the field, and the wild animals will be at peace with you.

24Узнаешь, что твой шатёр в безопасности, будешь смотреть за своим домом и не ошибёшься.You will know that your tent is secure, and find nothing amiss when inspecting your home.

25Увидишь, что твоё потомство многочисленно, и твои дети— как трава на земле.You will know that your offspring will be many, your descendants like the grass of the earth.

26Сойдёшь в могилу в старости, как укладывают снопы пшеницы в своё время.You will come to the grave in full vigor, like a sheaf of grain gathered in season.

27Вот то, что мы выяснили. Так оно и есть, выслушай это и отметь для себя».Indeed, we have investigated, and it is true! So hear it and know for yourself.”
