Request for Prayer 1 RV Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run and be glorified, even as also it is with you; BSB BSB: Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may spread quickly and be held in honor, just as it was with you.
RV and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and evil men; for all have not faith. BSB BSB: And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men; for not everyone holds to the faith.
RV But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and guard you from the evil one . BSB BSB: But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.
RV And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command. BSB BSB: And we have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do what we command.
RV And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patience of Christ. BSB BSB: May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance.
A Warning against Idleness 6 RV Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which they received of us. BSB BSB: Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to keep away from any brother who leads an undisciplined life that is not in keeping with the tradition you received from us.
RV For yourselves know how ye ought to imitate us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you; BSB BSB: For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us, because we were not undisciplined among you,
RV neither did we eat bread for nought at any man’s hand, but in labour and travail, working night and day, that we might not burden any of you: BSB BSB: nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. Instead, in labor and toil, we worked night and day so that we would not be a burden to any of you.
RV not because we have not the right, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you, that ye should imitate us. BSB BSB: Not that we lack this right, but we wanted to offer ourselves as an example for you to imitate.
RV For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, If any will not work, neither let him eat. BSB BSB: For even while we were with you, we gave you this command: “If anyone is unwilling to work, he shall not eat.”
RV For we hear of some that walk among you disorderly, that work not at all, but are busybodies. BSB BSB: For we hear that some of you are leading undisciplined lives, accomplishing nothing, but being busybodies.

RV But ye, brethren, be not weary in well-doing. BSB BSB: But as for you, brothers, do not grow weary in well-doing.
RV And if any man obeyeth not our word by this epistle, note that man, that ye have no company with him, to the end that he may be ashamed. BSB BSB: Take note of anyone who does not obey the instructions we have given in this letter. Do not associate with him, so that he may be ashamed.
RV And yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother. BSB BSB: Yet do not regard him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
