6 RV And thou Bethlehem, land of Judah, Art in no wise least among the princes of Judah: For out of thee shall come forth a governor, Which shall be shepherd of my people Israel. BSB BSB: ‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah, for out of you will come a ruler who will be the shepherd of My people Israel.’”
7 RV Then Herod privily called the wise men, and learned of them carefully what time the star appeared. BSB BSB: Then Herod called the Magi secretly and learned from them the exact time the star had appeared.
8 RV And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search out carefully concerning the young child; and when ye have found him , bring me word, that I also may come and worship him. BSB BSB: And sending them to Bethlehem, he said: “Go and search carefully for the Child, and when you find Him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship Him.”
9 RV And they, having heard the king, went their way; and lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. BSB BSB: After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stood over the place where the Child was.

BSB BSB: When the Magi had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up!” he said. “Take the Child and His mother and flee to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the Child to kill Him.”
14 RV And he arose and took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt; BSB BSB: So he got up, took the Child and His mother by night, and withdrew to Egypt,
Weeping and Great Mourning (Jeremiah 31:1–25)
16 RV Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the male children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the borders thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had carefully learned of the wise men. BSB BSB: When Herod saw that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was filled with rage. Sending orders, he put to death all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, according to the time he had learned from the Magi.
17 RV Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying, BSB BSB: Then what was spoken through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled:
18 RV A voice was heard in Ramah, Weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children; And she would not be comforted, because they are not. BSB BSB: “A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more.”
The Return to Nazareth (Luke 2:39–40)
20 RV saying, Arise and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead that sought the young child’s life. BSB BSB: “Get up!” he said. “Take the Child and His mother and go to the land of Israel, for those seeking the Child’s life are now dead.”
21 RV And he arose and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel. BSB BSB: So Joseph got up, took the Child and His mother, and went to the land of Israel.
