Dead to Sin, Alive to God (2 Corinthians 4:7–18)
RV What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? BSB BSB: What then shall we say? Shall we continue in sin so that grace may increase?
RV God forbid. We who died to sin, how shall we any longer live therein? BSB BSB: Certainly not! How can we who died to sin live in it any longer?
RV Or are ye ignorant that all we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? BSB BSB: Or aren’t you aware that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?
RV We were buried therefore with him through baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life. BSB BSB: We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may walk in newness of life.
RV For if we have become united with him by the likeness of his death, we shall be also by the likeness of his resurrection; BSB BSB: For if we have been united with Him like this in His death, we will certainly also be united with Him in His resurrection.
RV knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him , that the body of sin might be done away, that so we should no longer be in bondage to sin; BSB BSB: We know that our old self was crucified with Him so that the body of sin might be rendered powerless, that we should no longer be slaves to sin.
RV for he that hath died is justified from sin. BSB BSB: For anyone who has died has been freed from sin.
RV But if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him; BSB BSB: Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with Him.
RV knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death no more hath dominion over him. BSB BSB: For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, He cannot die again; death no longer has dominion over Him.
RV For the death that he died, he died unto sin once: but the life that he liveth, he liveth unto God. BSB BSB: The death He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life He lives, He lives to God.
RV Even so reckon ye also yourselves to be dead unto sin, but alive unto God in Christ Jesus. BSB BSB: So you too must count yourselves dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

RV Know ye not, that to whom ye present yourselves as servants unto obedience, his servants ye are whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? BSB BSB: Do you not know that when you offer yourselves as obedient slaves, you are slaves to the one you obey, whether you are slaves to sin leading to death, or to obedience leading to righteousness?
RV But thanks be to God, that, whereas ye were servants of sin, ye became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching whereunto ye were delivered; BSB BSB: But thanks be to God that, though you once were slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were committed.

BSB BSB: I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to escalating wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness.
