1. 1SANTHAอาทิโต ย อาสีทฺ ยสฺย วาคฺ อสฺมาภิรศฺราวิ ยญฺจ วยํ สฺวเนไตฺร รฺทฺฤษฺฏวนฺโต ยญฺจ วีกฺษิตวนฺต: สฺวกไร: สฺปฺฤษฺฏวนฺตศฺจ ตํ ชีวนวาทํ วยํ ชฺญาปยาม:ฯBSBBSB: That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our own eyes, which we have gazed upon and touched with our own hands—this is the Word of life.
2. 2SANTHAส ชีวนสฺวรูป: ปฺรกาศต วยญฺจ ตํ ทฺฤษฺฏวนฺตสฺตมธิ สากฺษฺยํ ททฺมศฺจ, ยศฺจ ปิตุ: สนฺนิธาววรฺตฺตตาสฺมากํ สมีเป ปฺรกาศต จ ตมฺ อนนฺตชีวนสฺวรูปํ วยํ ยุษฺมานฺ ชฺญาปยาม:ฯBSBBSB: And this is the life that was revealed; we have seen it and testified to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us.
3. 3SANTHAอสฺมาภิ รฺยทฺ ทฺฤษฺฏํ ศฺรุตญฺจ ตเทว ยุษฺมานฺ ชฺญาปฺยเต เตนาสฺมาภิ: สหำศิตฺวํ ยุษฺมากํ ภวิษฺยติฯ อสฺมากญฺจ สหำศิตฺวํ ปิตฺรา ตตฺปุเตฺรณ ยีศุขฺรีษฺเฏน จ สารฺทฺธํ ภวติฯBSBBSB: We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And this fellowship of ours is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ.
4. 4SANTHAอปรญฺจ ยุษฺมากมฺ อานนฺโท ยตฺ สมฺปูรฺโณ ภเวทฺ ตทรฺถํ วยมฺ เอตานิ ลิขาม:ฯBSBBSB: We write these things so that our joy may be complete.
5. 5SANTHAวยํ ยำ วารฺตฺตำ ตสฺมาตฺ ศฺรุตฺวา ยุษฺมานฺ ชฺญาปยาม: เสยมฺฯ อีศฺวโร โชฺยติสฺตสฺมินฺ อนฺธการสฺย เลโศ'ปิ นาสฺติฯBSBBSB: And this is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you: God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.
6. 6SANTHAวยํ เตน สหำศิน อิติ คทิตฺวา ยทฺยนฺธากาเร จรามสฺตรฺหิ สตฺยาจาริโณ น สนฺโต 'นฺฤตวาทิโน ภวาม:ฯBSBBSB: If we say we have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
7. 7SANTHAกินฺตุ ส ยถา โชฺยติษิ วรฺตฺตเต ตถา วยมปิ ยทิ โชฺยติษิ จรามสฺตรฺหิ ปรสฺปรํ สหภาคิโน ภวามสฺตสฺย ปุตฺรสฺย ยีศุขฺรีษฺฏสฺย รุธิรญฺจาสฺมานฺ สรฺวฺวสฺมาตฺ ปาปาตฺ ศุทฺธยติฯBSBBSB: But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
8. 8SANTHAวยํ นิษฺปาปา อิติ ยทิ วทามสฺตรฺหิ สฺวยเมว สฺวานฺ วญฺจยาม: สตฺยมตญฺจาสฺมากมฺ อนฺตเร น วิทฺยเตฯBSBBSB: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9. 9SANTHAยทิ สฺวปาปานิ สฺวีกุรฺมฺมเห ตรฺหิ ส วิศฺวาโสฺย ยาถารฺถิกศฺจาสฺติ ตสฺมาทฺ อสฺมากํ ปาปานิ กฺษมิษฺยเต สรฺวฺวสฺมาทฺ อธรฺมฺมาจฺจาสฺมานฺ ศุทฺธยิษฺยติฯBSBBSB: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10. 10SANTHAวยมฺ อกฺฤตปาปา อิติ ยทิ วทามสฺตรฺหิ ตมฺ อนฺฤตวาทินํ กุรฺมฺมสฺตสฺย วากฺยญฺจาสฺมากมฺ อนฺตเร น วิทฺยเตฯBSBBSB: If we say we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar, and His word is not in us.
