1. 1SCHWas von Anfang war, was wir gehört, was wir mit unsren Augen gesehen haben, was wir beschaut und was unsre Hände betastet haben, vom Wort des LebensBSBBSB: That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our own eyes, which we have gazed upon and touched with our own hands—this is the Word of life.
2. 2SCHund das Leben ist erschienen, und wir haben gesehen und bezeugen und verkündigen euch das ewige Leben, welches bei dem Vater war und uns erschienen ist;BSBBSB: And this is the life that was revealed; we have seen it and testified to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us.
3. 3SCHwas wir gesehen und gehört haben, das verkündigen wir euch, damit auch ihr Gemeinschaft mit uns habet. Und unsere Gemeinschaft ist mit dem Vater und mit seinem Sohne Jesus Christus.BSBBSB: We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And this fellowship of ours is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ.
4. 4SCHUnd solches schreiben wir euch, damit eure Freude vollkommen sei.BSBBSB: We write these things so that our joy may be complete.
5. 5SCHUnd das ist die Botschaft, die wir von ihm gehört haben und euch verkündigen, daß Gott Licht ist und in ihm gar keine Finsternis ist.BSBBSB: And this is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you: God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.
6. 6SCHWenn wir sagen, daß wir Gemeinschaft mit ihm haben, und doch in der Finsternis wandeln, so lügen wir und tun nicht die Wahrheit;BSBBSB: If we say we have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
7. 7SCHwenn wir aber im Lichte wandeln, wie er im Lichte ist, so haben wir Gemeinschaft miteinander, und das Blut Jesu Christi, seines Sohnes, reinigt uns von aller Sünde.BSBBSB: But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
8. 8SCHWenn wir sagen, wir haben keine Sünde, so verführen wir uns selbst, und die Wahrheit ist nicht in uns;BSBBSB: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9. 9SCHwenn wir aber unsere Sünden bekennen, so ist er treu und gerecht, daß er uns die Sünden vergibt und uns reinigt von aller Ungerechtigeit.BSBBSB: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10. 10SCHWenn wir sagen, wir haben nicht gesündigt, so machen wir ihn zum Lügner, und sein Wort ist nicht in uns.BSBBSB: If we say we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar, and His word is not in us.
