1Muyumve akanwa ka Nyamuzinda, bene Israheli, bulya Nyamuzinda ali lubanja haguma n’abantu b’ecihugo. Omu cihugo, murhaciri mwîkubagirwa, ntà buzigire, ntà kucimanya na kukenga Nyamuzinda.Hear the word of the LORD, O children of Israel, for the LORD has a case against the people of the land: “There is no truth, no loving devotion, and no knowledge of God in the land!

2Ci birha n’obunywesi, kunigana n’enshombo, bugonyi n’obulyâlya, kuyîrhana ene n’irhondo.Cursing and lying, murder and stealing, and adultery are rampant; one act of bloodshed follows another.

3Na ntyo ecihugo ciri omu mishîbo, n’abantu bamwo boshi bahosire, ciru n’ensimba z’emuzirhu n’enyunyi z’oku nkuba, ciru n’enfî z’omu nyanja ziherêrekîre. Obulyâlya bw’abadâhwaTherefore the land mourns, and all who dwell in it will waste away with the beasts of the field and the birds of the air; even the fish of the sea disappear.

4Ci kwône ntâye wajàga lubanja, ntâye wasambaga. We mudâhwa we nshimbire.But let no man contend; let no man offer reproof; for your people are like those who contend with a priest.

5Ohirimire mâshi, ohirimire budufu, n’omulêbi ahirimire haguma nâwe, na ntyo nkola nâyîrha nyoko.You will stumble by day, and the prophet will stumble with you by night; so I will destroy your mother—

6Olubaga lwâni lufirire okubula obumanye. Bulya w’oyo wakabulire obumanye, nkolaga nakukaga omu budâhwa bwâni; wayibagîre e nyigîrizo za Nyamuzinda wâwe nkolaga nayibagira abâna bâwe.My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you as My priests. Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children.

7Boshi oku banali banjirîre ebyâha, irenge lyâbo nâlihindula nshonyi.The more they multiplied, the more they sinned against Me; they exchanged their Glory for a thing of disgrace.

8Ebyâha by’olubaga lwâni bwo bwigusi bwâbo, n’amabî gâlwo go bahàrhira.They feed on the sins of My people and set their hearts on iniquity.

9Ci omudâhwa naye nâmujira kuguma n’olubaga; nâmuhanira olugendo lwâge, nâmulyuza ebijiro byâge.And it shall be like people, like priest. I will punish both of them for their ways and repay them for their deeds.

10Bâlya, ci barhâyigurhe, bâjira obubaraga ci barhaburhe bâna; bulya balesire Nyakasane bacîhira omu by’enshonyi. Enterekêro ya Israheli eri nterekêro ya banyamuzinda bw’obwîhambiThey will eat but not be satisfied; they will be promiscuous but not multiply. For they have abandoned the LORD to give themselves

11Obugonyi n’amamvu irhwe biheza.to promiscuity, wine, and new wine, which take away understanding.

12Olubaga lwâni lunagendilaguza emw’enshushano y’omurhi. Cihimbi ca karhi cilufulûlira emyanzi, bulya omurhima gw’obubaraga gwabahabwîre, balesire Nyamuzinda wâbo bashimba obubaraga.My people consult their wooden idols, and their divining rods inform them. For a spirit of prostitution leads them astray and they have played the harlot against their God.

13Oku busôngerwe bw’entondo kwo barherekêrera, oku rhurhondo kwo bayôkera entûlo zâbo, idako ly’emirhi y’emishebeye, emitudu, n’enterebinta, mpu ho hali ecîhôho. Co cirhumire, akabà bâli binyu ziri mbaraga, akabà bâlikazi binyu bali bagonyi,They sacrifice on the mountaintops and burn offerings on the hills, under oak, poplar, and terebinth, because their shade is pleasant. And so your daughters turn to prostitution and your daughters-in-law to adultery.

14Ntâhane bâli binyu oku bubaraga bwâbo, ntâhane bâlikazi binyu oku bugonyi bwâbo, bulya nabo bônene eburhambi bacîyegiìlire n’embaraga, barherekêre haguma n’entazi.I will not punish your daughters when they prostitute themselves, nor your daughters-in-law when they commit adultery. For the men themselves go off with prostitutes and offer sacrifices with shrine prostitutes. So a people without understanding will come to ruin.

15Akabà oli mbaraga, wâni Israheli, Yûda yêhe amanyage obubî. Murhajâga e Gilgali, murhasôkeraga e Bet-Avena, murhacigashaga, mpu: «mbotumirha Nyamuzinda».Though you prostitute yourself, O Israel, may Judah avoid such guilt! Do not journey to Gilgal, do not go up to Beth-aven, and do not swear on oath, ‘As surely as the LORD lives!’

16Bulya Israheli aciyêrekîne nka cigamba, kurhi Nyamuzinda akacimuyâbulira nka mwâna-buzi omu bulambo bugali?For Israel is as obstinate as a stubborn heifer. Can the LORD now shepherd them like lambs in an open meadow?

17Efrayimu anywanîne n’abazimu, omuleke.Ephraim is joined to idols; leave him alone!

18Ngasi hali endalwè ho balâla, barhishi n’oburhali bubaraga, abarhambo bâbo, enshonyi lyo irenge lyâbo.When their liquor is gone, they turn to prostitution; their rulers dearly love disgrace.

19Empûsi yabakurubukana omu byûbi byâyo, enshonyi zâbabumbira aha mpêro zâbo.The whirlwind has wrapped them in its wings, and their sacrifices will bring them shame.
