1Yahvé le dijo a Moisés: “Ve a ver al faraón y dile: ‘Así dice Yahvé: Deja ir a mi pueblo para que me adore.Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and tell him that this is what the LORD says: ‘Let My people go, so that they may worship Me.

2Si te niegas a dejarlos ir, voy a plagar de ranas todo tu territorio.But if you refuse to let them go, I will plague your whole country with frogs.

3El río se va a llenar de ranas; saldrán del agua y se meterán a tu palacio, a tu recámara, a tu cama, a las casas de tus funcionarios y a las de tu pueblo. ¡Se meterán hasta en tus hornos y en donde amasas el pan!The Nile will teem with frogs, and they will come into your palace and up to your bedroom and onto your bed, into the houses of your officials and your people, and into your ovens and kneading bowls.

4Las ranas se treparán sobre ti, sobre tu pueblo y sobre todos tus funcionarios’”.The frogs will come up on you and your people and all your officials.’”

5Yahvé le añadió a Moisés: “Dile a Aarón: ‘Extiende la mano con tu vara sobre los ríos, canales y lagunas, y haz que salgan ranas por todo Egipto’”.And the LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Stretch out your hand with your staff over the rivers and canals and ponds, and cause the frogs to come up onto the land of Egypt.’”

6Aarón extendió su mano sobre las aguas de Egipto, y las ranas salieron y cubrieron todo el país.So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt.

7Pero los magos hicieron lo mismo con sus trucos de magia, y también hicieron que salieran ranas sobre Egipto.But the magicians did the same thing by their magic arts, and they also brought frogs up onto the land of Egypt.

8Entonces el faraón mandó llamar a Moisés y a Aarón, y les dijo: “Rueguen a Yahvé que nos quite las ranas a mí y a mi pueblo, y dejaré ir al pueblo para que le ofrezca sacrificios a Yahvé.”Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Pray to the LORD to take the frogs away from me and my people. Then I will let your people go, that they may sacrifice to the LORD.”

9Moisés le contestó al faraón: “Te doy el honor de elegir cuándo quieres que ore por ti, por tus funcionarios y por tu pueblo, para que las ranas desaparezcan de sus casas y solo queden en el río.”Moses said to Pharaoh, “You may have the honor over me. When shall I pray for you and your officials and your people that the frogs (except for those in the Nile) may be taken away from you and your houses?”

10“Mañana mismo”, respondió el faraón. Moisés le dijo: “Se hará como tú dices, para que sepas que no hay nadie como Yahvé, nuestro Dios.“Tomorrow,” Pharaoh answered. “May it be as you say,” Moses replied, “so that you may know that there is no one like the LORD our God.

11Las ranas se irán de tu presencia, de tus casas, de tus funcionarios y de tu pueblo. Solamente quedarán en el río”.The frogs will depart from you and your houses and your officials and your people; they will remain only in the Nile.”

12Moisés y Aarón salieron de la presencia del faraón, y Moisés le rogó a Yahvé que quitara las ranas que había mandado contra el faraón.After Moses and Aaron had left Pharaoh, Moses cried out to the LORD for help with the frogs that He had brought against Pharaoh.

13Yahvé hizo lo que Moisés le pidió, y las ranas se murieron en las casas, en los patios y en los campos.And the LORD did as Moses requested, and the frogs in the houses, the courtyards, and the fields died.

14Las juntaron e hicieron grandes montones con ellas, y todo el país apestaba.They were piled into countless heaps, and there was a terrible stench in the land.

15Pero cuando el faraón vio que la situación había mejorado, volvió a ponerse terco y no les hizo caso, tal como Yahvé lo había advertido.When Pharaoh saw that there was relief, however, he hardened his heart and would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the LORD had said.

16Yahvé le dijo a Moisés: “Dile a Aarón: ‘Extiende tu vara y golpea el polvo del piso, para que se convierta en piojos por todo Egipto’”.Then the LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Stretch out your staff and strike the dust of the earth, that it may turn into swarms of gnats throughout the land of Egypt.’”

17Así lo hicieron. Aarón extendió la mano, golpeó el polvo del piso con su vara, ¡y todo el polvo de Egipto se convirtió en piojos que atacaron a la gente y a los animales!This they did, and when Aaron stretched out his hand with his staff and struck the dust of the earth, gnats came upon man and beast. All the dust of the earth turned into gnats throughout the land of Egypt.

18Los magos intentaron producir piojos con sus trucos de magia, pero esta vez no pudieron. Y los piojos seguían atacando a la gente y a los animales.The magicians tried to produce gnats using their magic arts, but they could not. And the gnats remained on man and beast.

19Entonces los magos le dijeron al faraón: “¡Este es el dedo de Dios!” Pero el faraón siguió terco y no los escuchó, tal como Yahvé lo había dicho.“This is the finger of God,” the magicians said to Pharaoh. But Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he would not listen to them, just as the LORD had said.

20Yahvé le dijo a Moisés: “Levántate muy temprano y espéralo. Cuando el faraón baje al agua, dile: ‘Así dice Yahvé: Deja ir a mi pueblo para que me adore.Then the LORD said to Moses, “Get up early in the morning, and when Pharaoh goes out to the water, stand before him and tell him that this is what the LORD says: ‘Let My people go, so that they may worship Me.

21Porque si no los dejas ir, voy a mandar enjambres de moscas sobre ti, sobre tus funcionarios, sobre tu pueblo y sobre tus casas. Las casas de los egipcios se van a llenar de moscas, y hasta el suelo donde pisan estará cubierto de ellas.But if you will not let My people go, I will send swarms of flies upon you and your officials and your people and your houses. The houses of the Egyptians and even the ground where they stand will be full of flies.

22Pero ese día haré una excepción con la región de Gosén, donde vive mi pueblo; allí no habrá ninguna mosca, para que sepas que yo, Yahvé, estoy presente en esta tierra.But on that day I will give special treatment to the land of Goshen, where My people live; no swarms of flies will be found there. In this way you will know that I, the LORD, am in the land.

23Haré una clara diferencia entre mi pueblo y el tuyo. Esta señal ocurrirá mañana’”.I will make a distinction between My people and your people. This sign will take place tomorrow.’”

24Y así lo hizo Yahvé. Llegaron densos enjambres de moscas al palacio del faraón y a las casas de sus funcionarios. ¡Todo el país de Egipto quedó arruinado por culpa de las moscas!And the LORD did so. Thick swarms of flies poured into Pharaoh’s palace and into the houses of his officials. Throughout Egypt the land was ruined by swarms of flies.

25Entonces el faraón mandó llamar a Moisés y a Aarón, y les dijo: “Vayan a ofrecerle sacrificios a su Dios, ¡pero aquí mismo en el país!”Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Go, sacrifice to your God within this land.”

26Moisés le respondió: “Eso no está bien, porque los sacrificios que le ofrecemos a Yahvé, nuestro Dios, resultan ofensivos para los egipcios. Si hacemos esos sacrificios delante de ellos, ¿acaso no nos agarrarán a pedradas?But Moses replied, “It would not be right to do that, because the sacrifices we offer to the LORD our God would be detestable to the Egyptians. If we offer sacrifices that are detestable before the Egyptians, will they not stone us?

27Tenemos que ir a tres días de camino por el desierto para ofrecerle sacrificios a Yahvé, nuestro Dios, tal como él nos lo ordene.”We must make a three-day journey into the wilderness and sacrifice to the LORD our God as He commands us.”

28El faraón cedió: “Los dejaré ir para que le ofrezcan sacrificios a Yahvé, su Dios, en el desierto, siempre y cuando no se vayan muy lejos. Y rueguen por mí”.Pharaoh answered, “I will let you go and sacrifice to the LORD your God in the wilderness, but you must not go very far. Now pray for me.”

29Moisés le dijo: “En cuanto salga de aquí, voy a orar a Yahvé para que mañana mismo las moscas se alejen del faraón, de sus funcionarios y de su pueblo. Pero no vuelvas a engañarnos negándote a dejar ir al pueblo a ofrecerle sacrificios a Yahvé.”“As soon as I leave you,” Moses said, “I will pray to the LORD, so that tomorrow the swarms of flies will depart from Pharaoh and his officials and his people. But Pharaoh must not act deceitfully again by refusing to let the people go and sacrifice to the LORD.”

30Moisés salió de la presencia del faraón y oró a Yahvé.Then Moses left Pharaoh and prayed to the LORD,

31Yahvé hizo lo que Moisés le pidió, y apartó los enjambres de moscas del faraón, de sus funcionarios y de su pueblo. ¡No quedó ni una sola mosca!and the LORD did as Moses requested. He removed the swarms of flies from Pharaoh and his officials and his people; not one fly remained.

32Pero una vez más, el faraón se puso terco y tampoco esta vez dejó ir al pueblo.But Pharaoh hardened his heart this time as well, and he would not let the people go.
