1. 1SV17Det som var från begynnelsen, det vi hava hört, det vi med egna ögon hava sett, det vi skådade och med egna händer togo på, det förkunna vi: om livets Ord tala vi.BSBBSB: That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our own eyes, which we have gazed upon and touched with our own hands—this is the Word of life.
2. 2SV17Ty livet uppenbarades, och vi hava sett det; och vi vittna därom och förkunna för eder livet, det eviga, som var hos Fadern och uppenbarades för oss.BSBBSB: And this is the life that was revealed; we have seen it and testified to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us.
3. 3SV17Ja, det vi hava sett och hört, det förkunna vi ock för eder, på det att också I mån hava gemenskap med oss; och vi hava vår gemenskap med Fadern och med hans Son, Jesus Kristus.BSBBSB: We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And this fellowship of ours is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ.
4. 4SV17Och vi skriva nu detta, för att vår glädje skall bliva fullkomlig.BSBBSB: We write these things so that our joy may be complete.
5. 5SV17Och detta är det budskap som vi hava hört från honom, och som vi förkunna för eder, att Gud är ljus, och att intet mörker finnes i honom.BSBBSB: And this is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you: God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.
6. 6SV17Om vi säga oss hava gemenskap med honom, och vi vandra i mörkret, så ljuga vi och göra icke sanningen.BSBBSB: If we say we have fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.
7. 7SV17Men om vi vandra i ljuset, såsom han är i ljuset, så hava vi gemenskap med varandra, och Jesu, hans Sons, blod renar oss från all synd.BSBBSB: But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
8. 8SV17Om vi säga att vi icke hava någon synd, så bedraga vi oss själva, och sanningen är icke i oss.BSBBSB: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9. 9SV17Om vi bekänna våra synder, så är han trofast och rättfärdig, så att han förlåter oss våra synder och renar oss från all orättfärdighet.BSBBSB: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10. 10SV17Om vi säga att vi icke hava syndat, så göra vi honom till en ljugare, och hans ord är icke i oss.BSBBSB: If we say we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar, and His word is not in us.
