4Isa akamwambia, “Mama, kwa nini unanihusisha? Saa yangu haijawadia.”“Woman, what is that to you and to Me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.”

5Mama yake akawaambia wale watumishi, “Fanyeni lolote atakalowaambia.”His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever He tells you.”

6Basi hapo palikuwa na mitungi sita iliyotengenezwa kwa mawe; iliwekwa hapo kwa ajili ya desturi ya Kiyahudi ya kujitakasa; kila mtungi ungeweza kuchukua vipipa viwili au vitatu.Now six stone water jars had been set there for the Jewish rites of purification. Each could hold from twenty to thirty gallons.

7Isa akawaambia wale watumishi, “Ijazeni hiyo mitungi maji.” Nao wakaijaza ile mitungi hadi juu.Jesus told the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” So they filled them to the brim.

8Kisha akawaambia, “Sasa choteni hayo maji kidogo; mpelekeeni mkuu wa sherehe.” Hivyo wakachota, wakampelekea.“Now draw some out,” He said, “and take it to the master of the banquet.” They did so,

10akamwambia, “Watu wote hutoa divai nzuri kwanza, kisha huleta ile divai hafifu wageni wakisha kunywa sana; lakini wewe umeiweka ile nzuri zaidi hadi sasa.”and said, “Everyone serves the fine wine first, and then the cheap wine after the guests are drunk. But you have saved the fine wine until now!”

11Huu ndio muujiza wa kwanza wa Isa; aliufanya huko Kana ya Galilaya. Hivyo Isa alidhihirisha utukufu wake, nao wanafunzi wake wakamwamini.Jesus performed this, the first of His signs, at Cana in Galilee. He thus revealed His glory, and His disciples believed in Him.

17Wanafunzi wake wakakumbuka kuwa imeandikwa: “Wivu wa nyumba yako utanila.”His disciples remembered that it is written: “Zeal for Your house will consume Me.”

18Ndipo Wayahudi wakamuuliza, “Unaweza kutuonesha ishara gani ili kuthibitisha mamlaka uliyo nayo ya kufanya mambo haya yote?”On account of this, the Jews demanded, “What sign can You show us to prove Your authority to do these things?”

19Isa akawajibu, “Libomoeni hili Hekalu, nami nitalijenga tena kwa siku tatu!”Jesus answered, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up again.”

20Wale Wayahudi wakamjibu, “Hekalu hili lilijengwa kwa muda wa miaka arobaini na sita, nawe wasema utalijenga kwa siku tatu?”“This temple took forty-six years to build,” the Jews replied, “and You are going to raise it up in three days?”

21Lakini yeye Hekalu alilozungumzia ni mwili wake.But Jesus was speaking about the temple of His body.

22Baada ya kufufuliwa kutoka kwa wafu, wanafunzi wake wakakumbuka yale aliyokuwa amesema. Ndipo wakayaamini Maandiko na yale maneno Isa alikuwa ameyasema.After He was raised from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had said this. Then they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.

23Ikawa Isa alipokuwa Yerusalemu kwenye Sikukuu ya Pasaka, watu wengi waliona ishara na miujiza aliyokuwa akifanya, nao wakaamini katika jina lake.While He was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many people saw the signs He was doing and believed in His name.

24Lakini Isa hakujiaminisha kwao, kwa sababu aliwajua wanadamu wote.But Jesus did not entrust Himself to them, for He knew them all.

25Hakuhitaji ushuhuda wa mtu yeyote kuhusu mwanadamu, kwa kuwa alijua yote yaliyokuwa moyoni mwa kila mtu.He did not need any testimony about man, for He knew what was in a man.
