1 ULB எப்பிராயீம் மலைத்தேசத்திலிருக்கிற சோப்பீம் என்னப்பட்ட ராமதாயீம் ஊரானாகிய ஒரு மனிதன் இருந்தான்; அவனுக்கு எல்க்கானா என்று பெயர்; அவன் எப்பிராயீமியனாகிய சூப்புக்குப் பிறந்த தோகுவின் மகனான எலிகூவின் மகனான எரோகாமின் மகன். BSB BSB: Now there was a man named Elkanah who was from Ramathaim-zophim in the hill country of Ephraim. He was the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephraimite.
2 ULB அவனுக்கு இரண்டு மனைவிகள் இருந்தார்கள்; ஒருத்தி பெயர் அன்னாள், மற்றவள் பெயர் பெனின்னாள்; பெனின்னாளுக்குப் பிள்ளைகள் இருந்தார்கள்; அன்னாளுக்கோ பிள்ளை இல்லை. BSB BSB: He had two wives, one named Hannah and the other Peninnah. And Peninnah had children, but Hannah had none.

BSB BSB: Year after year Elkanah would go up from his city to worship and sacrifice to the LORD of Hosts at Shiloh, where Eli’s two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, were priests to the LORD.

5 ULB அன்னாளை நேசித்ததினால், அவளுக்கு இரண்டு பங்கு கொடுப்பான்; கர்த்தரோ அவள் கர்ப்பத்தை அடைத்திருந்தார். BSB BSB: But to Hannah he would give a double portion, for he loved her even though the LORD had closed her womb.
6 ULB கர்த்தர் அன்னாளுடைய கர்ப்பத்தை அடைத்தபடியினால், அவளுடைய சக்களத்தி அவள் துக்கப்படும்படியாக அவளுக்கு மிகவும் எரிச்சலுண்டாக்குவாள். BSB BSB: Because the LORD had closed Hannah’s womb, her rival would provoke her viciously to taunt her.
7 ULB அவள் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திற்குப் போகும்போது, அவன் ஒவ்வொரு வருடமும் அப்படியே செய்வான்; இவள் அன்னாளை மனவேதனைப்படுத்துவாள்; அப்பொழுது அவள் சாப்பிடாமல் அழுதுகொண்டிருப்பாள். BSB BSB: And this went on year after year. Whenever Hannah went up to the house of the LORD, her rival taunted her until she wept and would not eat.
8 ULB அவளுடைய கணவனான எல்க்கானா அவளைப் பார்த்து: அன்னாளே, ஏன் அழுகிறாய்? ஏன் சாப்பிடாதிருக்கிறாய்? ஏன் சஞ்சலப்படுகிறாய்? பத்து மகன்களைவிட நான் உனக்கு மேலானவன் அல்லவா? என்றான். BSB BSB: “Hannah, why are you crying?” her husband Elkanah asked. “Why won’t you eat? Why is your heart so grieved? Am I not better to you than ten sons?”

BSB BSB: So after they had finished eating and drinking in Shiloh, Hannah stood up. Now Eli the priest was sitting on a chair by the doorpost of the temple of the LORD.

BSB BSB: And she made a vow, saying, “O LORD of Hosts, if only You will look upon the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, not forgetting Your maidservant but giving her a son, then I will dedicate him to the LORD all the days of his life, and no razor shall ever touch his head.”

BSB BSB: “No, my lord,” Hannah replied. “I am a woman troubled in spirit. I have not had any wine or strong drink, but I have poured out my soul before the LORD.
16 ULB உம்முடைய அடிமையை துன்மார்க்கத்தின் பெண்ணாக நினைக்கவேண்டாம்; மிகுதியான துன்பத்தினாலும், துயரத்தினாலும் இந்த நேரம்வரை விண்ணப்பம்செய்தேன் என்றாள். BSB BSB: Do not take your servant for a wicked woman, for all this time I have been praying out of the depth of my anguish and grief.”
17 ULB அதற்கு ஏலி சமாதானத்துடன் போ; நீ இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனிடத்தில் கேட்ட உன் விண்ணப்பத்தின்படி அவர் உனக்குக் கட்டளையிடுவாராக என்றான். BSB BSB: “Go in peace,” Eli replied, “and may the God of Israel grant the petition you have asked of Him.”
18 ULB அப்பொழுது அவள்: உம்முடைய அடிமைக்கு உம்முடைய கண்களிலே தயவு கிடைக்கட்டும் என்றாள்; பின்பு அந்த பெண் புறப்பட்டுப்போய் சாப்பிட்டாள்; அதன் பின்பு அவள் துக்கமுகமாக இருக்கவில்லை. BSB BSB: “May your maidservant find favor with you,” said Hannah. Then she went on her way, and she began to eat, and her face was no longer downcast.
19 ULB அவர்கள் அதிகாலையில் எழுந்து, கர்த்தரைத் தொழுதுகொண்டு, ராமாவிலிருக்கிற தங்களுடைய வீட்டுக்குத் திரும்பிப் போனார்கள்; எல்க்கானா தன் மனைவியாகிய அன்னாளுடன் இணைந்தான்; கர்த்தர் அவளை நினைத்தார். BSB BSB: The next morning they got up early to bow in worship before the LORD, and then they returned home to Ramah. And Elkanah had relations with his wife Hannah, and the LORD remembered her.
20 ULB சிலநாட்கள் சென்றபின்பு அன்னாள் கர்ப்பவதியாகி, ஒரு மகனைப் பெற்று, கர்த்தரிடத்தில் அவனைக் கேட்டேன் என்று சொல்லி, அவனுக்கு சாமுவேல் என்று பெயரிட்டாள். BSB BSB: So in the course of time, Hannah conceived and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, saying, “Because I have asked for him from the LORD.”
21 ULB எல்க்கானா என்பவன் கர்த்தருக்கு வருடந்தோறும் செலுத்தும் பலியையும் தன்னுடைய பொருத்தனையையும் செலுத்தும்படியாக, தன்னுடைய வீட்டார் அனைவரோடும் போனான். BSB BSB: Then Elkanah and all his house went up to make the annual sacrifice to the LORD and to fulfill his vow,
22 ULB அன்னாள் அவர்களுடன் போகவில்லை; அவள்: பிள்ளை பால்குடிப்பதை மறந்தபின்பு, அவன் கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாக காணப்படவும், அங்கே எப்பொழுதும் இருக்கவும், நான் அவனைக் கொண்டுபோய்விடுவேன் என்று தன்னுடைய கணவனிடம் சொன்னாள். BSB BSB: but Hannah did not go. “After the boy is weaned,” she said to her husband, “I will take him to appear before the LORD and to stay there permanently.”
23 ULB அப்பொழுது அவளுடைய கணவனாகிய எல்க்கானா அவளை நோக்கி: நீ உன்னுடைய விருப்பத்தின்படி செய்து, அவனை பால் மறக்கப்பண்ணும்வரை இரு; கர்த்தர் தம்முடைய வார்த்தையைமட்டும் நிறைவேற்றுவாராக என்றான்; அப்படியே அந்தப் பெண் தன்னுடைய பிள்ளையைப் பால் மறக்கப்பண்ணும்வரைக்கும் பாலூட்டி வளர்த்தாள். BSB BSB: “Do what you think is best,” her husband Elkanah replied, “and stay here until you have weaned him. Only may the LORD confirm His word.” So Hannah stayed and nursed her son until she had weaned him.
24 ULB அவள் அவனைப் பால்மறக்கச் செய்தபின்பு, மூன்று காளைகளையும், ஒரு மரக்கால் மாவையும், ஒரு தோல்பை திராட்சை ரசத்தையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு, அவனையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, சீலோவிலிருக்கிற கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்துக்குப் போனாள்; பிள்ளை இன்னும் குழந்தையாக இருந்தான். BSB BSB: Once she had weaned him, Hannah took the boy with her, along with a three-year-old bull, an ephah of flour, and a skin of wine. Though the boy was still young, she brought him to the house of the LORD at Shiloh.
25 ULB அவர்கள் ஒரு காளையைப் பலியிட்டு, பிள்ளையை ஏலியினிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்து விட்டார்கள். BSB BSB: And when they had slaughtered the bull, they brought the boy to Eli.
26 ULB அப்பொழுது அவள்: என்னுடைய ஆண்டவனே, இங்கே உம்முடைய அருகிலே நின்று கர்த்தரை நோக்கி விண்ணப்பம் செய்த பெண் நான்தான் என்று என்னுடைய ஆண்டவனாகிய உம்முடைய ஜீவனைக் கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன். BSB BSB: “Please, my lord,” said Hannah, “as surely as you live, my lord, I am the woman who stood here beside you praying to the LORD.
27 ULB இந்தப் பிள்ளைக்காக விண்ணப்பம்செய்தேன்; நான் கர்த்தரிடத்தில் கேட்ட என்னுடைய விண்ணப்பத்தின்படி எனக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டார். BSB BSB: I prayed for this boy, and since the LORD has granted me what I asked of Him,
28 ULB எனவே, அவன் கர்த்தருக்கென்று கேட்கப்பட்டதால், அவன் உயிரோடிருக்கும் எல்லா நாட்களும் அவனைக் கர்த்தருக்கே ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கிறேன் என்றாள்; அவன் அங்கே கர்த்தரைத் தொழுதுகொண்டான். BSB BSB: I now dedicate the boy to the LORD. For as long as he lives, he is dedicated to the LORD.” So they worshiped the LORD there.
