Psalm 78 (ULB) · Opened

1என் மக்களே, என்னுடைய உபதேசத்தைக் கேளுங்கள்; என் வாயின் வார்த்தைகளுக்கு உங்களுடைய செவிகளைச் சாயுங்கள்.A Maskil of Asaph. Give ear, O my people, to my instruction; listen to the words of my mouth.

2என்னுடைய வாயை உவமைகளால் திறப்பேன்; ஆரம்ப காலத்தின் மறைபொருட்களை வெளிப்படுத்துவேன்.I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things hidden from the beginning,

3அவைகளை நாங்கள் கேள்விப்பட்டு அறிந்தோம்; எங்களுடைய முன்னோர்கள் அவைகளை எங்களுக்குத் தெரிவித்தார்கள்.that we have heard and known and our fathers have relayed to us.

4பின்வரும் சந்ததியான பிள்ளைகளுக்கு நாங்கள் அவைகளை மறைக்காமல், கர்த்தரின் துதிகளையும் அவருடைய பலத்தையும், அவர் செய்த அவருடைய அதிசயங்களையும் விவரிப்போம்.We will not hide them from their children but will declare to the next generation the praises of the LORD and His might and the wonders He has performed.

5அவர் யாக்கோபிலே சாட்சியை ஏற்படுத்தி, இஸ்ரவேலிலே வேதத்தை நிறுவி, அவைகளைத் தங்களுடைய பிள்ளைகளுக்கு அறிவிக்கும்படி நம்முடைய முற்பிதாக்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டார்.For He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers to teach to their children,

6இனிப் பிறக்கும் பிள்ளைகளாகிய பின்சந்ததியார் அதை அறிந்துகொண்டு, அவர்கள் எழும்பித் தங்களுடைய பிள்ளைகளுக்கு அவைகளைச் சொல்லும்படிக்கும்;that the coming generation would know them—even children yet to be born—to arise and tell their own children

7தேவன்மேல் அவர்கள் தங்களுடைய நம்பிக்கையை வைத்து, தேவனுடைய செயல்களை மறக்காமல், அவர் கற்பனைகளைக் கைக்கொள்ளும்படிக்கும்;that they should put their confidence in God, not forgetting His works, but keeping His commandments.

8இருதயத்தைச் செவ்வைப்படுத்தாமலும், தேவனை உறுதியாகப் பற்றிக்கொள்ளாமலும் இருந்த முரட்டாட்டமும் கலகமுமுள்ள சந்ததியாகிய தங்களுடைய பிதாக்களுக்கு அவர்கள் ஒப்பாகாதபடிக்கும், இவைகளைக் கட்டளையிட்டார்.Then they will not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, whose heart was not loyal, whose spirit was not faithful to God.

9ஆயுதமணிந்த வில்வீரர்களான எப்பிராயீமீர்கள் யுத்தநாளிலே முதுகு காட்டினார்கள்.The archers of Ephraim turned back on the day of battle.

10அவர்கள் தேவனுடைய உடன்படிக்கையைக் கைக்கொள்ளாமலும், அவருடைய கட்டளைகளின்படி நடக்கச் சம்மதிக்காமலும்,They failed to keep God’s covenant and refused to live by His law.

11அவருடைய செயல்களையும், அவர் தங்களுக்குக் காண்பித்த அதிசயங்களையும் மறந்தார்கள்.They forgot what He had done, the wonders He had shown them.

12அவர்களுடைய முன்னோர்களுக்கு முன்பாக, எகிப்து தேசத்துச் சோவான் வெளியிலே, அவர் அதிசயமானவைகளைச் செய்தார்.He worked wonders before their fathers in the land of Egypt, in the region of Zoan.

13கடலைப் பிளந்து, அவர்களைக் கடக்கச்செய்து, தண்ணீரைக் குவியலாக நிற்கும்படிச் செய்தார்.He split the sea and brought them through; He set the waters upright like a wall.

14பகலிலே மேகத்தினாலும், இரவுமுழுவதும் அக்கினி வெளிச்சத்தினாலும் அவர்களை வழிநடத்தினார்.He led them with a cloud by day and with a light of fire all night.

15பாலைவனத்திலே கன்மலைகளைப் பிளந்து, மகா ஆழங்களிலிருந்து தண்ணீரை அவர்களுக்குக் குடிக்கக் கொடுத்தார்.He split the rocks in the wilderness and gave them drink as abundant as the seas.

16கன்மலையிலிருந்து நீரோட்டங்களைப் புறப்படச்செய்து, தண்ணீரை நதிபோல ஓடிவரும்படி செய்தார்.He brought streams from the stone and made water flow down like rivers.

17என்றாலும், அவர்கள் பின்னும் அவருக்கு விரோதமாகப் பாவஞ்செய்து, பாலைவனத்திலே உன்னதமானவருக்குக் கோபம் மூட்டினார்கள்.But they continued to sin against Him, rebelling in the desert against the Most High.

18தங்களுடைய ஆசைக்கேற்ற உணவைக்கேட்டு, தங்களுடைய இருதயத்தில் தேவனைப் பரீட்சைபார்த்தார்கள்.They willfully tested God by demanding the food they craved.

19அவர்கள் தேவனுக்கு விரோதமாகப் பேசி: தேவன் பாலைவனத்திலே உணவுப்பந்தியை ஆயத்தப்படுத்தக்கூடுமோ?They spoke against God, saying, “Can God really prepare a table in the wilderness?

20இதோ அவர் கன்மலையை அடித்ததினால் தண்ணீர் புறப்பட்டு, நதிகளாகப் புரண்டுவந்தது; அவர் அப்பத்தையும் கொடுக்கமுடியுமோ? தம்முடைய மக்களுக்கு இறைச்சியையும் ஆயத்தப்படுத்துவாரோ என்றார்கள்.When He struck the rock, water gushed out and torrents raged. But can He also give bread or supply His people with meat?”

21ஆகையால் கர்த்தர் அதைக் கேட்டுக் கோபங்கொண்டார்; அவர்கள் தேவனை விசுவாசிக்காமலும், அவருடைய இரட்சிப்பை நம்பாமலும் போனதினால்,Therefore the LORD heard and was filled with wrath; so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and His anger flared against Israel,

22யாக்கோபுக்கு விரோதமாக நெருப்பு பற்றியெரிந்தது; இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு விரோதமாகக் கோபம் மூண்டது.because they did not believe God or rely on His salvation.

23அவர் உயரத்திலுள்ள மேகங்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டு, வானத்தின் கதவுகளைத் திறந்து,Yet He commanded the clouds above and opened the doors of the heavens.

24மன்னாவை அவர்களுக்கு ஆகாரமாகப் பெய்யச்செய்து, வானத்தின் தானியத்தை அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுத்தார்.He rained down manna for them to eat; He gave them grain from heaven.

25தூதர்களின் அப்பத்தை மனிதன் சாப்பிட்டான்; அவர்களுக்கு ஆகாரத்தைப் பூரணமாக அனுப்பினார்.Man ate the bread of angels; He sent them food in abundance.

26வானத்திலே கிழக்கு காற்றை வீசச்செய்து, தம்முடைய வல்லமையினால் தென்றலையும் வீசச்செய்து,He stirred the east wind from the heavens and drove the south wind by His might.

27இறைச்சியை தூளைப்போலவும், சிறகுள்ள பறவைகளைக் கடற்கரை மணலளவாகவும் பெய்யச்செய்து,He rained meat on them like dust, and winged birds like the sand of the sea.

28அவைகளை அவர்கள் முகாமின் நடுவிலும், அவர்கள் கூடாரங்களைச் சுற்றிலும் இறங்கச்செய்தார்.He felled them in the midst of their camp, all around their dwellings.

29அவர்கள் சாப்பிட்டு திருப்தியடைந்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் ஆசைப்பட்டதை அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுத்தார்.So they ate and were well filled, for He gave them what they craved.

30அவர்கள் தங்களுடைய ஆசையை வெறுக்கவில்லை; அவர்களுடைய உணவு அவர்களுடைய வாயில் இருக்கும்போதே.Yet before they had filled their desire, with the food still in their mouths,

31தேவகோபம் அவர்கள்மேல் எழும்பி, அவர்களில் கொழுத்தவர்களை அழித்து, இஸ்ரவேலில் வாலிபர்களை விழச்செய்தார்.God’s anger flared against them, and He put to death their strongest and subdued the young men of Israel.

32இவையெல்லாம் நடந்தும், அவர் செய்த அதிசயங்களை அவர்கள் நம்பாமல், பின்னும் பாவஞ்செய்தார்கள்.In spite of all this, they kept on sinning; despite His wonderful works, they did not believe.

33ஆதலால் அவர்கள் நாட்களை வீணாகவும், அவர்கள் வருடங்களைப் பயங்கரத்திலும் கழியச்செய்தார்.So He ended their days in futility, and their years in sudden terror.

34அவர்களை அவர் கொல்லும்போது அவரைக்குறித்து விசாரித்து, அவர்கள் திரும்பிவந்து தேவனை அதிகாலமே தேடி;When He slew them, they would seek Him; they repented and searched for God.

35தேவன் தங்களுடைய கன்மலையென்றும், உன்னதமான தேவன் தங்களுடைய மீட்பர் என்றும், நினைவுகூர்ந்தார்கள்.And they remembered that God was their Rock, that God Most High was their Redeemer.

36ஆனாலும் அவர்கள் தங்களுடைய வாயினால் அவருக்கு வஞ்சகம் பேசி, தங்களுடைய நாவினால் அவரிடத்தில் பொய்சொன்னார்கள்.But they deceived Him with their mouths, and lied to Him with their tongues.

37அவர்களுடைய இருதயம் அவரிடத்தில் நிலைவரப்படவில்லை; அவருடைய உடன்படிக்கையில் அவர்கள் உண்மையாக இருக்கவில்லை.Their hearts were disloyal to Him, and they were unfaithful to His covenant.

38அவரோ அவர்களை அழிக்காமல், இரக்கமுள்ளவராக அவர்கள் அக்கிரமத்தை மன்னித்தார்; அவர் தமது கடுங்கோபம் முழுவதையும் எழுப்பாமல், அநேகமுறை தமது கோபத்தை விலக்கிவிட்டார்.And yet He was compassionate; He forgave their iniquity and did not destroy them. He often restrained His anger and did not unleash His full wrath.

39அவர்கள் மாம்சமென்றும், திரும்பிவராமல் அகலுகிற காற்றென்றும் நினைவுகூர்ந்தார்.He remembered that they were but flesh, a passing breeze that does not return.

40எத்தனைமுறையோ பாலைவனத்திலே அவருக்குக் கோபமூட்டி, பாலைவனத்திலே அவரை வேதனைப்படுத்தினார்கள்.How often they disobeyed Him in the wilderness and grieved Him in the desert!

41அவர்கள் திரும்பி தேவனைப் பரீட்சை பார்த்து, இஸ்ரவேலின் பரிசுத்தரை எரிச்சலூட்டினார்கள்.Again and again they tested God and provoked the Holy One of Israel.

42அவருடைய கரத்தையும், அவர் தங்களை எதிரிகளுக்கு விலக்கி மீட்ட நாளையும் நினைக்காமல் போனார்கள்.They did not remember His power—the day He redeemed them from the adversary,

43அவர் எகிப்திலே தம்முடைய அடையாளங்களையும், சோவான் வெளியிலே தம்முடைய அற்புதங்களையும் செய்தார்.when He performed His signs in Egypt and His wonders in the fields of Zoan.

44அவர்களுடைய நதிகளை இரத்தமாக மாற்றி, அவர்களுடைய ஆறுகளிலுள்ள தண்ணீரைக் குடிக்கமுடியாதபடி செய்தார்.He turned their rivers to blood, and from their streams they could not drink.

45அவர்களை அழிக்கும்படி வண்டு வகைகளையும், அவர்களைக் கெடுக்கும்படி தவளைகளையும் அவர்களுக்குள்ளே அனுப்பினார்.He sent swarms of flies that devoured them, and frogs that devastated them.

46அவர்களுடைய விளைச்சலைப் புழுக்களுக்கும், அவர்களுடைய உழைப்பின் பலனை வெட்டுக்கிளிகளுக்கும் கொடுத்தார்.He gave their crops to the grasshopper, the fruit of their labor to the locust.

47கல்மழையினால் அவர்களுடைய திராட்சைச்செடிகளையும், ஆலாங்கட்டியினால் அவர்களுடைய அத்திமரங்களையும் அழித்து,He killed their vines with hailstones and their sycamore-figs with sleet.

48அவர்களுடைய மிருகங்களைக் கல்மழைக்கும், அவர்களுடைய ஆடுமாடுகளை இடிகளுக்கும் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்.He abandoned their cattle to the hail and their livestock to bolts of lightning.

49தமது கடுமையான கோபத்தையும், மூர்க்கத்தையும், பிரச்சனையையும், உபத்திரவத்தையும், தீங்குசெய்யும் தூதர்களையும் அவர்களுக்குள்ளே அனுப்பினார்.He unleashed His fury against them, wrath, indignation, and calamity—a band of destroying angels.

50அவர் தம்முடைய கோபத்திற்கு வழிதிறந்து, அவர்களுடைய ஆத்துமாவை மரணத்திற்கு விலக்கிக் காக்காமல், அவர்கள் உயிரைக் கொள்ளைநோய்க்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்.He cleared a path for His anger; He did not spare them from death but delivered their lives to the plague.

51எகிப்திலே முதற்பிறந்த பிள்ளைகள் அனைத்தையும், காமின் கூடாரங்களிலே அவர்களுடைய பெலனில் முதற்பிறந்த எல்லோரையும் அழித்து;He struck all the firstborn of Egypt, the virility in the tents of Ham.

52தம்முடைய மக்களை ஆடுகளைப்போல் புறப்படச்செய்து, அவர்களை வனாந்திரத்திலே மந்தையைப்போல் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுபோய்;He led out His people like sheep and guided them like a flock in the wilderness.

53அவர்கள் பயப்படாதபடிக்கு அவர்களைப் பத்திரமாக வழிநடத்தினார்; அவர்கள் எதிரிகளைக் கடல் மூடிப்போட்டது.He led them safely, so they did not fear, but the sea engulfed their enemies.

54அவர்களைத் தமது பரிசுத்த ஸ்தலத்தின் எல்லைவரைக்கும், தமது வலதுகரம் சம்பாதித்த இந்த மலைவரைக்கும் அழைத்துக்கொண்டுவந்து,He brought them to His holy land, to the mountain His right hand had acquired.

55அவர்கள் முகத்திற்கு முன்பாக தேசங்களைத் துரத்திவிட்டு, தேசத்தை நூல்போட்டுப் பங்கிட்டு, அவர்களுடைய கூடாரங்களில் இஸ்ரவேலின் கோத்திரங்களைக் குடியேற்றினார்.He drove out nations before them and apportioned their inheritance; He settled the tribes of Israel in their tents.

56ஆனாலும் அவர்கள் உன்னதமான தேவனைப் பரீட்சை பார்த்து, அவருக்குக் கோபம் மூட்டி, அவருடைய சாட்சிகளைக் கைக்கொள்ளாமல்போய்,But they tested and disobeyed God Most High, for they did not keep His decrees.

57தங்களுடைய தகப்பன்மார்களைப்போல வழிவிலகி, துரோகம்செய்து, மோசம்போக்கும் வில்லைப்போல் துவண்டு,They turned back and were faithless like their fathers, twisted like a faulty bow.

58தங்களுடைய மேடைகளினால் அவருக்குக் கோபம் மூட்டி, தங்களுடைய விக்கிரகங்களினால் எரிச்சல் உண்டாக்கினார்கள்.They enraged Him with their high places and provoked His jealousy with their idols.

59தேவன் அதைக் கேட்டு கடுங்கோபமடைந்து, இஸ்ரவேலை மிகவும் வெறுத்து,On hearing it, God was furious and rejected Israel completely.

60தாம் மனிதர்களுக்குள்ளே போட்ட கூடாரமாகிய சீலோவிலுள்ள வாசஸ்தலத்தை விட்டுவிலகி,He abandoned the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent He had pitched among men.

61தமது பலத்தைச் சிறையிருப்புக்கும், தமது மகிமையை எதிரியின் கைக்கும் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்து,He delivered His strength to captivity, and His splendor to the hand of the adversary.

62தமது மக்களை வாளுக்கு இரையாக்கி, தமது சுதந்தரத்தின்மேல் கோபங்கொண்டார்.He surrendered His people to the sword because He was enraged by His heritage.

63அவர்கள் வாலிபர்களை நெருப்பு எரித்தது, அவர்களுடைய கன்னிப்பெண்கள் வாழ்க்கைப்படாமலிருந்தார்கள்.Fire consumed His young men, and their maidens were left without wedding songs.

64அவர்களுடைய ஆசாரியர்கள் வாளால் விழுந்தார்கள், அவர்களுடைய விதவைகள் அழவில்லை.His priests fell by the sword, but their widows could not lament.

65அப்பொழுது ஆண்டவர் தூக்கம் தெளிந்தவனைப்போலவும், திராட்சைரசத்தால் கெம்பீரிக்கிற பலசாலியைப்போலவும் விழித்து,Then the Lord awoke as from sleep, like a mighty warrior overcome by wine.

66தம்முடைய எதிரிகளைப் பின்புறமாக அடித்து, அவர்களுக்கு நித்திய நிந்தையை வரச்செய்தார்.He beat back His foes; He put them to everlasting shame.

67அவர் யோசேப்பின் கூடாரத்தைப் புறக்கணித்தார்; எப்பிராயீம் கோத்திரத்தை அவர் தெரிந்துகொள்ளாமல்,He rejected the tent of Joseph and refused the tribe of Ephraim.

68யூதா கோத்திரத்தையும் தமக்குப் பிரியமான சீயோன் மலையையும் தெரிந்துகொண்டார்.But He chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion, which He loved.

69தம்முடைய பரிசுத்த ஸ்தலத்தை மலைகளைப்போலவும், என்றைக்கும் நிற்கும்படி தாம் அஸ்திபாரப்படுத்தின பூமியைப்போலவும் கட்டினார்.He built His sanctuary like the heights, like the earth He has established forever.

70தம்முடைய ஊழியனாகிய தாவீதைத் தெரிந்துகொண்டு, ஆட்டுத்தொழுவங்களிலிருந்து அவனை எடுத்தார்.He chose David His servant and took him from the sheepfolds;

71கறவலாடுகளின் பின்னாகத் திரிந்த அவனை, தம்முடைய மக்களாகிய யாக்கோபையும் தம்முடைய சுதந்தரமாகிய இஸ்ரவேலையும் மேய்ப்பதற்காக, அழைத்துக்கொண்டுவந்தார்.from tending the ewes He brought him to be shepherd of His people Jacob, of Israel His inheritance.

72இவன் அவர்களைத் தன்னுடைய இருதயத்தின் உண்மையின்படியே மேய்த்து, தன்னுடைய கைகளின் திறமையினால் அவர்களை நடத்தினான்.So David shepherded them with integrity of heart and guided them with skillful hands.
