Genesis 38 (TELOTSA)

3ఆమె గర్భవతియై కుమారున్ని కన్నది. అతనికి ఏరు అని పేరు పెట్టారు.So she conceived and gave birth to a son, and Judah named him Er.

4ఆమె మరలా గర్భవతియై కుమారుని కన్నది, అతనికి ఓనాను అని పేరు పెట్టింది.Again she conceived and gave birth to a son, and she named him Onan.

5ఆమె మరొక కుమారుని కన్నది, అతనికి షేలా అని పేరు పెట్టింది. ఆమె కజీబులో ఇతనికి జన్మనిచ్చింది.Then she gave birth to another son and named him Shelah; it was at Chezib that she gave birth to him.

6యూదా అతని మొదటి కుమారుడైన ఏరుకు తామారుతో పెళ్ళి చేశాడు.Now Judah acquired a wife for Er, his firstborn, and her name was Tamar.

7కానీ యూదా మొదటి కుమారుడైన ఏరు, యెహోవా దృష్టికి చెడ్డవాడు కాబట్టి యెహోవా అతన్ని మరణానికి గురి చేశారు.But Er, Judah’s firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the LORD; so the LORD put him to death.

8అప్పుడు యూదా ఓనానుతో, “నీ అన్న భార్యతో పడుకోని మరిది ధర్మం నిర్వర్తించి నీ అన్నకు సంతానం కలిగేలా చేయి” అని అన్నాడు.Then Judah said to Onan, “Sleep with your brother’s wife. Perform your duty as her brother-in-law and raise up offspring for your brother.”

9అయితే పుట్టే బిడ్డ అతని బిడ్డగా ఉండదని ఓనానుకు తెలుసు; కాబట్టి తన అన్న భార్యతో పడుకున్న ప్రతిసారి, తన అన్నకు సంతానం కలుగకూడదని తన వీర్యాన్ని నేలపై విడిచాడు.But Onan knew that the offspring would not belong to him; so whenever he would sleep with his brother’s wife, he would spill his seed on the ground so that he would not produce offspring for his brother.

10అతడు చేసిన పని యెహోవా దృష్టికి చెడ్డదైనందుకు యెహోవా అతన్ని కూడా మరణానికి గురి చేశారు.What he did was wicked in the sight of the LORD, so He put Onan to death as well.

11అప్పుడు యూదా తన కోడలు తామారుతో, “నా కుమారుడు షేలా ఎదిగే వరకు నీ తండ్రి ఇంట్లో విధవరాలుగా ఉండు” అని అన్నాడు. ఎందుకంటే అతడు, “తన అన్నల్లా ఇతడు కూడా చనిపోతాడేమో” అని అనుకున్నాడు. కాబట్టి తామారు తన తండ్రి ఇంట్లో ఉండడానికి వెళ్లింది.Then Judah said to his daughter-in-law Tamar, “Live as a widow in your father’s house until my son Shelah grows up.” For he thought, “He may die too, like his brothers.” So Tamar went to live in her father’s house.

When Judah had finished mourning, he and his friend Hirah the Adullamite went up to his sheepshearers at Timnah.

For she saw that although Shelah had grown up, she had not been given to him as a wife.

17అతడు, “నా మంద నుండి మేకపిల్లను ఇస్తాను” అని చెప్పాడు. అప్పుడు ఆమె, “అది పంపే వరకు నా దగ్గర ఏదైనా తాకట్టు పెడతావా?” అని అడిగింది.“I will send you a young goat from my flock,” Judah answered. But she replied, “Only if you leave me something as a pledge until you send it.”

Whose seal and cord and staff are these?”

29అయితే ఆ శిశువు చేయి వెనుకకు తీసుకున్నప్పుడు, అతని సోదరుడు బయటకు వచ్చాడు, అప్పుడు ఆమె, “ఇలా నీవు దూసుకుని వచ్చావు!” అన్నది. అతనికి పెరెసు అని పేరు పెట్టారు.But when he pulled his hand back and his brother came out, she said, “You have broken out first!” So he was named Perez.

30తర్వాత చేతికి ఎర్రటి దారం ఉన్నవాడు బయటకు వచ్చాడు. అతనికి జెరహు అని పేరు పెట్టారు.Then his brother came out with the scarlet thread around his wrist, and he was named Zerah.
