Matthew 14 (TELOTSA)

1ఆ సమయంలో చతుర్థాధిపతియైన హేరోదు యేసును గురించి విని,At that time Herod the tetrarch heard the reports about Jesus

2తన సేవకులతో, “ఇతడు బాప్తిస్మమిచ్చే యోహాను; చనిపోయి మళ్ళీ బ్రతికాడు. అందుకే ఇతని ద్వారా అద్భుతాలు జరుగుతున్నాయి” అని అన్నాడు.and said to his servants, “This is John the Baptist; he has risen from the dead! That is why miraculous powers are at work in him.”

3హేరోదు రాజు తన సొంత సోదరుడైన ఫిలిప్పు భార్య హేరోదియ కోసం యోహానును బంధించి చెరసాలలో వేయించాడు.Now Herod had arrested John and bound him and put him in prison on account of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife,

4ఎందుకంటే అంతకుముందు యోహాను హేరోదుతో: “నీవు ఆమెను ఉంచుకోవడం న్యాయం కాదు” అని చెప్పాడు.because John had been telling him, “It is not lawful for you to have her.”

5కాబట్టి హేరోదు యోహానును చంపాలని చూశాడు కాని, ప్రజలు అతన్ని ప్రవక్తగా భావిస్తున్నారని ప్రజలకు భయపడి చంపలేకపోయాడు.Although Herod wanted to kill John, he was afraid of the people, because they regarded John as a prophet.

6అయితే హేరోదు పుట్టిన రోజున, హేరోదియ కుమార్తె అతిథుల మధ్య నాట్యంచేసి హేరోదును సంతోషపరిచింది.On Herod’s birthday, however, the daughter of Herodias danced before them and pleased Herod

7కాబట్టి ఆమె ఏమి అడిగినా ఇస్తాను అని అతడు ఒట్టు పెట్టుకుని ప్రమాణం చేశాడు.so much that he promised with an oath to give to her whatever she asked.

8ఆమె తన తల్లి ప్రేరేపణతో, “బాప్తిస్మమిచ్చే యోహాను తలను పళ్లెంలో పెట్టి నాకు ఇప్పించు” అని అడిగింది.Prompted by her mother, she said, “Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist.”

9రాజు ఎంతో దుఃఖించాడు, కాని తనతో కూడ భోజనానికి కూర్చున్న అతిథులను బట్టి తాను చేసిన ప్రమాణం కోసం ఆమె కోరినట్లు చేయమని ఆదేశించాడు.The king was grieved, but because of his oaths and his guests, he ordered that her wish be granted

10అలా తన రక్షకభటులను పంపి చెరసాలలో యోహాను తలను నరికించాడు.and sent to have John beheaded in the prison.

11వారు బాప్తిస్మమిచ్చే యోహాను తలను పళ్లెంలో పెట్టి తెచ్చి ఆ చిన్నదానికి ఇచ్చినప్పుడు ఆమె తీసుకెళ్లి తన తల్లికి ఇచ్చింది.John’s head was brought in on a platter and presented to the girl, who carried it to her mother.

12యోహాను శిష్యులు వచ్చి అతని శవాన్ని తీసుకెళ్లి సమాధి చేసి, యేసు దగ్గరకు వచ్చి ఈ సంగతిని తెలియజేశారు.Then John’s disciples came and took his body and buried it. And they went and informed Jesus.

13యేసు జరిగిన సంగతిని విని పడవ ఎక్కి, అక్కడినుండి ఏకాంత స్థలానికి వెళ్లారు. ఆ సంగతి విని పట్టణాల నుండి కాలినడకన జనసమూహాలు ఆయనను వెంబడించారు.When Jesus heard about John, He withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. But the crowds found out about it and followed Him on foot from the towns.

14యేసు పడవ దిగి గొప్ప జనసమూహం రావడం చూసి వారి మీద కనికరపడి వారిలో రోగాలతో ఉన్నవారిని స్వస్థపరిచారు.When He stepped ashore and saw a large crowd, He had compassion on them and healed their sick.

15సాయంకాలం అయినప్పుడు శిష్యులు ఆయన దగ్గరకు వచ్చి, “ఇది మారుమూల ప్రాంతం, పైగా ఆలస్యం కూడా అవుతుంది. కాబట్టి జనసమూహాలను పంపివేయండి, వారే చుట్టుప్రక్కల గ్రామాలకు వెళ్లి భోజనాన్ని కొనుక్కుంటారు” అన్నారు.When evening came, the disciples came to Him and said, “This is a desolate place, and the hour is already late. Dismiss the crowds so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.”

16యేసు వారితో, “వారు ఎక్కడికి వెళ్లే అవసరం లేదు, మీరే వారికి భోజనం పెట్టండి” అని అన్నారు.“They do not need to go away,” Jesus replied. “You give them something to eat.”

17వారు యేసుతో, “ఇక్కడ మా దగ్గర అయిదు రొట్టెలు, రెండు చేపలు తప్ప ఇంకేమి లేవు” అని జవాబిచ్చారు.“We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered.

18ఆయన, “వాటిని నా దగ్గరకు తీసుకురండి” అని చెప్పారు.“Bring them here to Me,” Jesus said.

19వారిని పచ్చగడ్డి మీద కూర్చోపెట్టమని చెప్పి ఆ అయిదు రొట్టెలను రెండు చేపలను చేతిలో పట్టుకుని ఆకాశం వైపు కళ్ళెత్తి కృతజ్ఞతలు చెల్లించి ఆ రొట్టెలను విరిచి తన శిష్యులకు ఇచ్చారు, శిష్యులు వాటిని ప్రజలకు పంచిపెట్టారు.And He directed the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, He spoke a blessing. Then He broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people.

20వారందరు తృప్తిగా తిన్నారు. తర్వాత శిష్యులు మిగిలిన ముక్కలను పన్నెండు గంపల నిండా నింపారు.They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.

21తిన్న వారి సంఖ్య ఆడవారు పిల్లలు కాక, ఇంచుమించు అయిదు వేలమంది పురుషులు.About five thousand men were fed, besides women and children.

22వెంటనే యేసు జనసమూహాన్ని పంపివేస్తూ శిష్యులు తనకంటే ముందుగా అవతలి తీరానికి వెళ్లేలా వారిని పడవ ఎక్కించారు.Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of Him to the other side, while He dismissed the crowds.

23ఆయన వారిని పంపివేసిన తర్వాత ప్రార్థన చేసుకోవడానికి కొండపైకి వెళ్లారు. ఆ రాత్రి సమయంలో ఆయన ఒంటరిగా ఉన్నాడు.After He had dismissed them, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. When evening came, He was there alone,

24అప్పటికే ఆ పడవ ఒడ్డుకు దూరంగా ఉంది, ఎదురుగాలి వీస్తూ అలలు వచ్చి ఆ పడవను కొడుతున్నాయి.but the boat was already far from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.

25రాత్రి నాల్గవ జామున యేసు సరస్సు మీద నడుస్తూ వారి దగ్గరకు వెళ్లారు.During the fourth watch of the night, Jesus went out to them, walking on the sea.

26ఆయన నీళ్ల మీద నడవటం చూసిన శిష్యులు భయపడి, “భూతం” అని చెప్పుకుంటూ భయంతో కేకలు వేశారు.When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost!” they said, and cried out in fear.

27వెంటనే యేసు వారిని చూసి, “ధైర్యం తెచ్చుకోండి! నేనే, భయపడకండి” అని తన శిష్యులతో చెప్పారు.But Jesus spoke up at once: “Take courage! It is I. Do not be afraid.”

28పేతురు అది చూసి, “ప్రభువా, నీవే అయితే నేను నీళ్ల మీద నడిచి నీ దగ్గరకు రావడానికి నన్ను పిలువు” అని ఆయనతో అన్నాడు.“Lord, if it is You,” Peter replied, “command me to come to You on the water.”

29అందుకు యేసు, “రా!” అన్నారు. పేతురు పడవ దిగి నీళ్ల మీద యేసువైపు నడిచాడు.“Come,” said Jesus. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water, and came toward Jesus.

30కాని అతడు గాలిని చూసి భయపడి మునిగిపోవడం ప్రారంభించి, “ప్రభువా, నన్ను కాపాడు!” అని కేకలు వేశాడు.But when he saw the strength of the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”

31వెంటనే యేసు తన చేయి చాపి పేతురును పట్టుకుని, “అల్ప విశ్వాసీ, నీవెందుకు అనుమానించావు?” అన్నారు.Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and took hold of Peter. “You of little faith,” He said, “why did you doubt?”

32వారు పడవలోనికి ఎక్కిన తర్వాత గాలి అణగిపోయింది.And when they had climbed back into the boat, the wind died down.

33అప్పుడు పడవలో ఉన్నవారు వచ్చి, “నీవు నిజంగా దేవుని కుమారుడవు” అని చెప్పి ఆయనను ఆరాధించారు.Then those who were in the boat worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God!”

34వారు అవతలకు వెళ్లి గెన్నేసరెతు అనే ప్రాంతంలో దిగారు.When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret.

35అక్కడి ప్రజలందరు యేసును గుర్తుపట్టి, చుట్టుప్రక్కల ఉన్న ప్రాంతమంతా సమాచారం పంపించారు, కాబట్టి ప్రజలు రోగులను ఆయన దగ్గరకు తీసుకువచ్చారు.And when the men of that place recognized Jesus, they sent word to all the surrounding region. People brought all the sick to Him

36నీ వస్త్రపు అంచునైనా వారిని ముట్టనివ్వండని వారు ఆయనను బ్రతిమాలారు. ముట్టిన వారందరు స్వస్థత పొందారు.and begged Him just to let them touch the fringe of His cloak. And all who touched Him were healed.
