1พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสกับโมเสสว่า “ไปหาฟาโรห์แล้วบอกเขาว่า ‘พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า “ปล่อยประชาชนของเราไป เพื่อพวกเขาจะรับใช้เราThen the LORD said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and tell him that this is what the LORD says: ‘Let My people go, so that they may worship Me.

2ถ้าเจ้าไม่ยอมปล่อยพวกเขาไป เราจะให้กบระบาดทั่วดินแดนของเจ้าBut if you refuse to let them go, I will plague your whole country with frogs.

3แม่น้ำจะเต็มไปด้วยกบ กบจะขึ้นมาเข้าบ้าน ห้องนอน และขึ้นไปบนเตียงของเจ้า เข้าไปในบ้านของข้ารับใช้และประชาชนของเจ้า เข้าไปในเตาอบและอ่างนวดแป้งThe Nile will teem with frogs, and they will come into your palace and up to your bedroom and onto your bed, into the houses of your officials and your people, and into your ovens and kneading bowls.

4กบจะขึ้นมาเกาะทั้งตัวเจ้า ประชาชนของเจ้า และข้ารับใช้ทั้งหมดของเจ้า”’”The frogs will come up on you and your people and all your officials.’”

5พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสกับโมเสสว่า “บอกอาโรนว่า ‘ถือไม้เท้าแล้วเหยียดมือออกเหนือแม่น้ำ ลำธาร และบึงทั้งหลาย ให้กบขึ้นมาปกคลุมแผ่นดินอียิปต์’”And the LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Stretch out your hand with your staff over the rivers and canals and ponds, and cause the frogs to come up onto the land of Egypt.’”

6อาโรนเหยียดมือออกเหนือแหล่งน้ำของอียิปต์ กบก็ขึ้นมาปกคลุมแผ่นดินอียิปต์So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt.

7พวกนักเวทมนตร์ก็ใช้วิชาอาคมทำอย่างเดียวกัน ทำให้กบขึ้นมาบนแผ่นดินอียิปต์But the magicians did the same thing by their magic arts, and they also brought frogs up onto the land of Egypt.

8ฟาโรห์จึงเรียกโมเสสกับอาโรนมา แล้วพูดว่า “ขอร้องพระยาห์เวห์ให้เอากบไปจากเราและประชาชนของเรา แล้วเราจะปล่อยประชาชนไปถวายเครื่องบูชาแด่พระยาห์เวห์”Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Pray to the LORD to take the frogs away from me and my people. Then I will let your people go, that they may sacrifice to the LORD.”

9โมเสสตอบฟาโรห์ว่า “ผมให้ท่านเป็นผู้กำหนดเวลาเองว่าต้องการให้ผมอธิษฐานเผื่อท่าน ข้ารับใช้ และประชาชนของท่านเมื่อไร เพื่อให้กบหมดไปจากท่านและบ้านเรือนของท่าน เหลืออยู่แต่ในแม่น้ำเท่านั้น”Moses said to Pharaoh, “You may have the honor over me. When shall I pray for you and your officials and your people that the frogs (except for those in the Nile) may be taken away from you and your houses?”

11กบจะไปจากท่าน บ้านเรือน ข้ารับใช้ และประชาชนของท่าน เหลืออยู่แต่ในแม่น้ำเท่านั้น”The frogs will depart from you and your houses and your officials and your people; they will remain only in the Nile.”

12โมเสสกับอาโรนออกจากฟาโรห์ แล้วโมเสสร้องทูลพระยาห์เวห์เรื่องกบที่พระองค์ส่งมาทำให้ฟาโรห์เดือดร้อนAfter Moses and Aaron had left Pharaoh, Moses cried out to the LORD for help with the frogs that He had brought against Pharaoh.

13พระยาห์เวห์ก็ทำตามคำขอของโมเสส กบตายหมดจากบ้าน ลานบ้าน และทุ่งนาAnd the LORD did as Moses requested, and the frogs in the houses, the courtyards, and the fields died.

14ผู้คนกวาดกบมากองรวมกันเป็นกอง ๆ จนแผ่นดินส่งกลิ่นเหม็นThey were piled into countless heaps, and there was a terrible stench in the land.

15แต่เมื่อฟาโรห์เห็นว่ามีช่วงให้หายใจได้ เขาก็ทำให้ใจของตนแข็งกระด้างและไม่ยอมฟังโมเสสกับอาโรน ตามที่พระยาห์เวห์ได้ตรัสไว้When Pharaoh saw that there was relief, however, he hardened his heart and would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the LORD had said.

16พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสกับโมเสสว่า “บอกอาโรนว่า ‘เหยียดไม้เท้าออกแล้วตีฝุ่นบนพื้นดิน ให้ฝุ่นกลายเป็นเหาทั่วแผ่นดินอียิปต์’”Then the LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Stretch out your staff and strike the dust of the earth, that it may turn into swarms of gnats throughout the land of Egypt.’”

17พวกเขาก็ทำตามนั้น อาโรนถือไม้เท้าเหยียดมือออกตีฝุ่นบนพื้นดิน เหาก็ขึ้นทั้งบนคนและสัตว์ ฝุ่นทั่วแผ่นดินอียิปต์กลายเป็นเหาThis they did, and when Aaron stretched out his hand with his staff and struck the dust of the earth, gnats came upon man and beast. All the dust of the earth turned into gnats throughout the land of Egypt.

18พวกนักเวทมนตร์พยายามใช้วิชาอาคมทำให้เกิดเหา แต่ทำไม่ได้ เหายังคงอยู่ทั้งบนคนและสัตว์The magicians tried to produce gnats using their magic arts, but they could not. And the gnats remained on man and beast.

19พวกนักเวทมนตร์จึงพูดกับฟาโรห์ว่า “นี่คือนิ้วมือของพระเจ้า” แต่ใจของฟาโรห์ยังแข็งกระด้าง เขาไม่ยอมฟังโมเสสกับอาโรน ตามที่พระยาห์เวห์ได้ตรัสไว้“This is the finger of God,” the magicians said to Pharaoh. But Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he would not listen to them, just as the LORD had said.

20พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสกับโมเสสว่า “จงลุกแต่เช้าไปยืนต่อหน้าฟาโรห์ ตอนที่เขาออกมาที่แม่น้ำ แล้วบอกเขาว่า ‘พระยาห์เวห์ตรัสดังนี้ว่า “ปล่อยประชาชนของเราไป เพื่อพวกเขาจะรับใช้เราThen the LORD said to Moses, “Get up early in the morning, and when Pharaoh goes out to the water, stand before him and tell him that this is what the LORD says: ‘Let My people go, so that they may worship Me.

21ถ้าเจ้าไม่ปล่อยประชาชนของเราไป เราจะส่งฝูงแมลงวันมารุมเจ้า ข้ารับใช้ ประชาชน และบ้านเรือนของเจ้า บ้านของชาวอียิปต์จะเต็มไปด้วยฝูงแมลงวัน แม้แต่พื้นดินที่พวกเขาอาศัยอยู่ก็เช่นกันBut if you will not let My people go, I will send swarms of flies upon you and your officials and your people and your houses. The houses of the Egyptians and even the ground where they stand will be full of flies.

In this way you will know that I, the LORD, am in the land.

24พระยาห์เวห์ก็ทำตามนั้น ฝูงแมลงวันจำนวนมหาศาลเข้ามาในวังของฟาโรห์และบ้านของข้ารับใช้ของเขา แผ่นดินอียิปต์เสียหายยับเยินเพราะฝูงแมลงวันAnd the LORD did so. Thick swarms of flies poured into Pharaoh’s palace and into the houses of his officials. Throughout Egypt the land was ruined by swarms of flies.

25ฟาโรห์เรียกโมเสสกับอาโรนมาแล้วพูดว่า “ไปถวายเครื่องบูชาแด่พระเจ้าของพวกเจ้าในแผ่นดินนี้เถอะ!”Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Go, sacrifice to your God within this land.”

26โมเสสตอบว่า “ทำอย่างนั้นไม่ได้ เพราะสิ่งที่เราจะถวายเป็นเครื่องบูชาแด่พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของเราเป็นสิ่งที่ชาวอียิปต์รังเกียจ ถ้าเราถวายสิ่งที่พวกเขารังเกียจต่อหน้าต่อตา พวกเขาจะไม่เอาหินขว้างเราหรือ?But Moses replied, “It would not be right to do that, because the sacrifices we offer to the LORD our God would be detestable to the Egyptians. If we offer sacrifices that are detestable before the Egyptians, will they not stone us?

27เราจะเดินทางเข้าไปในถิ่นทุรกันดารเป็นระยะทาง 3 วัน แล้วถวายเครื่องบูชาแด่พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของเรา ตามที่พระองค์จะสั่งเรา”We must make a three-day journey into the wilderness and sacrifice to the LORD our God as He commands us.”

28ฟาโรห์ตอบว่า “เราจะปล่อยพวกเจ้าไปถวายเครื่องบูชาแด่พระยาห์เวห์พระเจ้าของพวกเจ้าในถิ่นทุรกันดาร แต่อย่าไปไกลนัก ช่วยอธิษฐานเผื่อเราด้วย”Pharaoh answered, “I will let you go and sacrifice to the LORD your God in the wilderness, but you must not go very far. Now pray for me.”

29โมเสสตอบว่า “เมื่อผมออกไปจากท่านแล้ว ผมจะอธิษฐานต่อพระยาห์เวห์ พรุ่งนี้ฝูงแมลงวันจะไปจากฟาโรห์ ข้ารับใช้ และประชาชนของท่าน แต่ขอฟาโรห์อย่าหลอกลวงอีกด้วยการไม่ยอมปล่อยประชาชนไปถวายเครื่องบูชาแด่พระยาห์เวห์”“As soon as I leave you,” Moses said, “I will pray to the LORD, so that tomorrow the swarms of flies will depart from Pharaoh and his officials and his people. But Pharaoh must not act deceitfully again by refusing to let the people go and sacrifice to the LORD.”

30โมเสสออกจากฟาโรห์แล้วอธิษฐานต่อพระยาห์เวห์Then Moses left Pharaoh and prayed to the LORD,

31พระยาห์เวห์ก็ทำตามคำขอของโมเสส พระองค์เอาฝูงแมลงวันไปจากฟาโรห์ ข้ารับใช้ และประชาชนของเขาจนไม่เหลือแม้แต่ตัวเดียวand the LORD did as Moses requested. He removed the swarms of flies from Pharaoh and his officials and his people; not one fly remained.

32แต่ครั้งนี้ฟาโรห์ก็ทำให้ใจของตนแข็งกระด้างอีก และไม่ยอมปล่อยประชาชนไปBut Pharaoh hardened his heart this time as well, and he would not let the people go.
