3เขาอาศัยอยู่ในสุสาน และไม่มีใครสามารถมัดเขาได้อีก แม้แต่ด้วยโซ่This man had been living in the tombs and could no longer be restrained, even with chains.

4เพราะเขาเคยถูกมัดด้วยตรวนและโซ่หลายครั้ง แต่เขากระชากโซ่จนขาด และหักตรวนเป็นชิ้น ๆ ไม่มีใครมีกำลังพอจะควบคุมเขาได้Though he was often bound with chains and shackles, he had broken the chains and shattered the shackles. Now there was no one with the strength to subdue him.

7และร้องเสียงดังว่า “ท่านมายุ่งอะไรกับข้า พระเยซู พระบุตรของพระเจ้าผู้สูงสุด? ข้าขอให้ท่านสาบานต่อพระเจ้าว่าจะไม่ทรมานข้า”And he shouted in a loud voice, “What do You want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You before God not to torture me!”

8เพราะพระองค์ได้กล่าวกับเขาว่า “ออกมาจากชายคนนี้ เจ้าวิญญาณที่ไม่บริสุทธิ์!”For Jesus had already declared, “Come out of this man, you unclean spirit!”

9พระองค์ถามเขาว่า “เจ้าชื่ออะไร?” เขาตอบว่า “ชื่อของข้าคือ เลกิโอน เพราะพวกเรามีมาก”“What is your name?” Jesus asked. “My name is Legion,” he replied, “for we are many.”

10แล้วเขาก็วิงวอนพระองค์อย่างมากไม่ให้ส่งพวกมันออกไปจากดินแดนนั้นAnd he begged Jesus repeatedly not to send them out of that region.

11ที่ไหล่เขามีหมูฝูงใหญ่กำลังหากินอยู่There on the nearby hillside a large herd of pigs was feeding.

12ปีศาจทั้งหมดวิงวอนพระองค์ว่า “ส่งพวกเราเข้าไปในหมู เพื่อพวกเราจะได้เข้าไปสิงมัน”So the demons begged Jesus, “Send us to the pigs, so that we may enter them.”

14คนเลี้ยงหมูพากันหนี และนำเรื่องไปบอกในเมืองและตามชนบท ผู้คนจึงออกมาดูว่าเกิดอะไรขึ้นThose tending the pigs ran off and reported this in the town and countryside, and the people went out to see what had happened.

15พวกเขามาหาพระเยซู และเห็นคนที่เคยถูกปีศาจสิง คนที่เคยมีเลกิโอนอยู่ในตัว กำลังนั่งอยู่ สวมเสื้อผ้า และมีสติเป็นปกติ พวกเขาก็กลัวWhen they came to Jesus, they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons sitting there, clothed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.

16คนที่เห็นเหตุการณ์เล่าให้พวกเขาฟังถึงสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นกับคนที่เคยถูกปีศาจสิง และเรื่องของหมูThose who had seen it described what had happened to the demon-possessed man and also to the pigs.

18ขณะที่พระองค์กำลังลงเรือ ชายที่เคยถูกปีศาจสิงวิงวอนขออยู่กับพระองค์As He was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed by the demons begged to go with Him.

21เมื่อพระเยซูข้ามเรือกลับไปยังอีกฝั่งหนึ่ง ฝูงชนจำนวนมากก็มารวมกันรอบพระองค์ ขณะที่พระองค์อยู่ริมทะเลWhen Jesus had again crossed by boat to the other side, a large crowd gathered around Him beside the sea.

23และวิงวอนอย่างมากว่า “ลูกสาวตัวน้อยของข้าพเจ้ากำลังจะตาย โปรดมาวางมือบนลูก เพื่อให้ลูกหายดีและมีชีวิตอยู่”and pleaded with Him urgently, “My little daughter is near death. Please come and place Your hands on her, so that she will be healed and live.”

24พระองค์จึงไปกับเขา ฝูงชนจำนวนมากติดตามพระองค์ และเบียดเสียดพระองค์ทุกด้านSo Jesus went with him, and a large crowd followed and pressed around Him.

25มีหญิงคนหนึ่งมีเลือดไหลไม่หยุดมาสิบสองปีAnd a woman was there who had suffered from bleeding for twelve years.

26นางต้องทนทุกข์จากการรักษาของหมอหลายคน ใช้เงินที่มีอยู่จนหมด แต่อาการก็ไม่ดีขึ้น กลับแย่ลงกว่าเดิมShe had borne much agony under the care of many physicians and had spent all she had, but to no avail. Instead, her condition had only grown worse.

27เมื่อนางได้ยินเรื่องของพระเยซู จึงเข้ามาทางด้านหลังพระองค์ท่ามกลางฝูงชน และแตะเสื้อผ้าของพระองค์When the woman heard about Jesus, she came up through the crowd behind Him and touched His cloak.

28เพราะนางพูดว่า “ถ้าเพียงได้แตะเสื้อผ้าของเขา ฉันก็จะหาย”For she kept saying, “If only I touch His garments, I will be healed.”

29ทันทีนั้น เลือดที่ไหลก็หยุด และนางรู้สึกในร่างกายว่าหายจากโรคที่ทรมานนางแล้วImmediately her bleeding stopped, and she sensed in her body that she was healed of her affliction.

30พระเยซูรู้สึกได้ทันทีว่าพลังได้ออกจากพระองค์ จึงหันกลับมาท่ามกลางฝูงชน และถามว่า “ใครแตะเสื้อผ้าของเรา?”At once Jesus was aware that power had gone out from Him. Turning to the crowd, He asked, “Who touched My garments?”

31สาวกของพระองค์กล่าวว่า “ท่านเห็นฝูงชนกำลังเบียดเสียดท่านอยู่ แล้วท่านยังถามอีกหรือว่า ‘ใครแตะเรา?’”His disciples answered, “You can see the crowd pressing in on You, and yet You ask, ‘Who touched Me?’”

32พระองค์มองไปรอบ ๆ เพื่อดูหญิงที่ทำเช่นนั้นBut He kept looking around to see who had done this.

33แต่หญิงคนนั้นทั้งกลัวและตัวสั่น เพราะรู้ว่าเกิดอะไรขึ้นกับตน จึงมาหมอบลงต่อหน้าพระองค์ และเล่าความจริงทั้งหมดให้พระองค์ฟังThen the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him trembling in fear, and she told Him the whole truth.

34พระองค์กล่าวกับนางว่า “ลูกสาวเอ๋ย ความเชื่อของเจ้าทำให้เจ้าหายแล้ว จงไปอย่างสงบสุข และจงหายขาดจากโรคของเจ้า”“Daughter,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be free of your affliction.”

35ขณะที่พระองค์ยังกล่าวอยู่ มีคนมาจากบ้านของหัวหน้าธรรมศาลาและบอกว่า “ลูกสาวของท่านตายแล้ว จะรบกวนอาจารย์อีกทำไม?”While He was still speaking, messengers from the house of Jairus arrived and said, “Your daughter is dead; why bother the Teacher anymore?”

36แต่ทันทีที่พระเยซูได้ยินคำพูดนั้น พระองค์กล่าวกับหัวหน้าธรรมศาลาว่า “อย่ากลัว เพียงเชื่อเท่านั้น”But Jesus overheard their conversation and said to Jairus, “Do not be afraid; just believe.”

37พระองค์ไม่ยอมให้ใครตามไป นอกจาก เปโตร ยากอบ และยอห์นพี่น้องของยากอบAnd He did not allow anyone to accompany Him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James.

38เมื่อพระองค์มาถึงบ้านของหัวหน้าธรรมศาลา พระองค์เห็นความวุ่นวาย ผู้คนร้องไห้และคร่ำครวญเสียงดังWhen they arrived at the house of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw the commotion and the people weeping and wailing loudly.

39เมื่อเข้าไปแล้ว พระองค์กล่าวกับพวกเขาว่า “ทำไมพวกคุณจึงวุ่นวายและร้องไห้? เด็กคนนี้ไม่ได้ตาย แต่กำลังหลับอยู่”He went inside and asked, “Why all this commotion and weeping? The child is not dead, but asleep.”

40พวกเขาหัวเราะเยาะพระองค์ แต่พระองค์ให้ทุกคนออกไป แล้วพาบิดาและมารดาของเด็ก รวมทั้งคนที่อยู่กับพระองค์ เข้าไปยังที่เด็กนอนอยู่And they laughed at Him. After He had put them all outside, He took the child’s father and mother and His own companions, and went in to see the child.

41พระองค์จับมือเด็กและกล่าวกับเธอว่า “ทาลิธา คูมิ!” ซึ่งแปลว่า “หนูน้อย เราบอกเจ้า ลุกขึ้น!”Taking her by the hand, Jesus said, “Talitha koum!” which means, “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”

42เด็กหญิงก็ลุกขึ้นและเดินทันที เพราะเธอมีอายุสิบสองปี ทุกคนประหลาดใจอย่างยิ่งImmediately the girl got up and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). And at once they were utterly astounded.

43พระองค์กำชับพวกเขาอย่างเข้มงวดไม่ให้ใครรู้เรื่องนี้ และสั่งให้เอาอาหารให้เธอกินThen Jesus gave strict orders that no one should know about this, and He told them to give her something to eat.
