Jesus Our Advocate 1 TNT My lytell children these thynges write I vnto you that ye synne not: yf eny man synne yet we have an advocate with the father Iesus Christ which is righteous: BSB BSB: My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate before the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.
2 TNT and he it is that obteyneth grace for oure synnes: not for oure synnes only: but also for the synnes of all the worlde. BSB BSB: He Himself is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
3 TNT And herby we are sure that we knowe him yf we kepe his commaundementes. BSB BSB: By this we can be sure that we have come to know Him: if we keep His commandments.
4 TNT He that sayth I knowe him and kepeth not his commaundementes is a lyar and the veritie is not in him. BSB BSB: If anyone says, “I know Him,” but does not keep His commandments, he is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 TNT Whosoever kepeth his (worde) in him is the love of god parfect in dede. And therby knowe we that we are in him. BSB BSB: But if anyone keeps His word, the love of God has been truly perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him:
6 TNT He that sayth he bydeth in him ought to walke even as he walked. BSB BSB: Whoever claims to abide in Him must walk as Jesus walked.
A New Commandment 7 TNT Brethren I write no newe commaundement vnto you: but that olde commaundement which ye hearde from the begynnynge. The olde commaundement is the worde which ye hearde from the begynnynge. BSB BSB: Beloved, I am not writing to you a new commandment, but an old one, which you have had from the beginning. This commandment is the message you have heard.
8 TNT Agayne a newe commaundement I write vnto you a thynge that is true in him and also in you: for the darknes is past and the true lyght now shyneth. BSB BSB: Then again, I am also writing to you a new commandment, which is true in Him and also in you. For the darkness is fading and the true light is already shining.
9 TNT He that sayth how that he is in the light and yet hateth his brother is in darknes even vntyll this tyme. BSB BSB: If anyone claims to be in the light but hates his brother, he is still in the darkness.
10 TNT He that loveth his brother abydeth in the light and ther is none occasion of evyll in him. BSB BSB: Whoever loves his brother remains in the light, and there is no cause of stumbling in him.
11 TNT He that hateth his brother is in darknes and walketh in darknes: and cannot tell whither he goeth because that darknes hath blynded his eyes. BSB BSB: But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness. He does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
12 TNT Babes I write vnto you how that youre synnes are forgeven you for his names sake. BSB BSB: I am writing to you, little children, because your sins have been forgiven through His name.
13 TNT I wryte vnto you fathers how that ye have knowen him that was from the begynnynge. I wryte vnto you yonge men how that ye have overcome the wicked. I wryte vnto you lytell children how that ye have knowne the father. BSB BSB: I am writing to you, fathers, because you know Him who is from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I have written to you, children, because you know the Father.
14 TNT I wryte vnto you fathers how that ye have knowe him that was from the begynnynge. I wryte vnto you youge men how that ye are stronge: and the worde of God abydeth in you and ye have overcome that wicked. BSB BSB: I have written to you, fathers, because you know Him who is from the beginning. I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one.
Do Not Love the World 15 TNT Se that ye love not the worlde nether the thynges that are in the worlde. Yf eny man love the worlde the love of the father is not in him. BSB BSB: Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 TNT For all that is in the worlde (as the lust of the flesshe the lust of the eyes and the pryde of gooddes) is not of the father: but of the worlde BSB BSB: For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not from the Father but from the world.
17 TNT And the worlde vannyssheth awaye and the lust therof: but he that fulfilleth the will of god abydeth ever. BSB BSB: The world is passing away, along with its desires; but whoever does the will of God remains forever.
Beware of Antichrists 18 TNT Lytell children it is the last tyme and as ye have herde how that Antichrist shall come: even now are there many Antichristes come allredy. Wherby we knowe that it is the last tyme. BSB BSB: Children, it is the last hour; and just as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have appeared. This is how we know it is the last hour.
20 TNT And ye have an oyntment of the holy gost and ye knowe all thynges. BSB BSB: You, however, have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth.
21 TNT I wrote not vnto you as though ye knewe not the trueth: but as though ye knewe it and knowe also that no lye commeth of trueth. BSB BSB: I have not written to you because you lack knowledge of the truth, but because you have it, and because no lie comes from the truth.
23 TNT Whosoever denyeth the sonne the same hath not the father. BSB BSB: Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father, but whoever confesses the Son has the Father as well.
Remain in Christ 24 TNT Let therfore abyde in you that same which ye hearde from the begynnynge. Yf that which ye hearde from the begynnynge shall remayne in you ye also shall continewe in the sonne and in the father BSB BSB: As for you, let what you have heard from the beginning remain in you. If it does, you will also remain in the Son and in the Father.
25 TNT And this is the promes that he hath promysed vs even eternall lyfe. BSB BSB: And this is the promise that He Himself made to us: eternal life.
26 TNT This have I written vnto you concernynge the that disceave you. BSB BSB: I have written these things to you about those who are trying to deceive you.
27 TNT And the anoyntynge which ye have receaved of him dwelleth in you. And ye nede not that eny man teache you: but as the annoyntynge teaheth you all thynges and is true and is no lye: and as it taught you even so byde therin. BSB BSB: And as for you, the anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But just as His true and genuine anointing teaches you about all things, so remain in Him as you have been taught.
28 TNT And nowe babes abyde in him that when he shall appere we maye be bolde and not be made a shamed of him at his commynge. BSB BSB: And now, little children, remain in Christ, so that when He appears, we may be confident and unashamed before Him at His coming.
29 TNT Yf ye knowe that he is righteous knowe also that he which foloweth rightewesnes is borne of him. BSB BSB: If you know that He is righteous, you also know that everyone who practices righteousness has been born of Him.
