1А третього дня було весїллє в Канї Галилейській; і була мати Ісусова там;On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there,

2запрошено ж і Ісуса, й учеників Його на весїллє.and Jesus and His disciples had also been invited to the wedding.

3І, як не ставало вина, каже мати Ісусова до Него: Вина не мають.When the wine ran out, Jesus’ mother said to Him, “They have no more wine.”

4Рече їй Ісус: Що менї й тобі, жено? ще не прийшла година моя.“Woman, what is that to you and to Me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.”

5Каже Його мати слугам: Що вам скаже, робіть.His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever He tells you.”

6Стояло ж там шість камяних водників про очищеннє Жидівське, що містили відер по два або по три.Now six stone water jars had been set there for the Jewish rites of purification. Each could hold from twenty to thirty gallons.

7Рече їм Ісус: Поналивайте водники водою. І поналивали їх аж по верх.Jesus told the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” So they filled them to the brim.

8І рече їм: Черпайте тепер, та й несїть до старости. І понесли.“Now draw some out,” He said, “and take it to the master of the banquet.” They did so,

9Як же покоштував староста води, що сталась вином (а не знав, звідкіля, слуги ж знали, що черпали воду), кличе жениха староста,and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not know where it was from, but the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside

10і каже йому: Кожен чоловік перш добре вино ставить, а як підопють, тодї гірше; ти ж додержав добре вино аж досї.and said, “Everyone serves the fine wine first, and then the cheap wine after the guests are drunk. But you have saved the fine wine until now!”

11Сей почин ознак зробив Ісус у Канї Галилейській, і показав славу свою; і вірували в Него ученики Його.Jesus performed this, the first of His signs, at Cana in Galilee. He thus revealed His glory, and His disciples believed in Him.

12Після сього пійшов у Капернаум, Він і мати Його, й брати Його, й ученики Його; і там пробували небагато днїв.After this, He went down to Capernaum with His mother and brothers and His disciples, and they stayed there a few days.

13А була близько пасха у Жидів, і пійшов у Єрусалим Ісус,When the Jewish Passover was near, Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

14і знайшов у церкві продаючих воли, й вівцї, і голуби, й міняльників сидячих.In the temple courts He found men selling cattle, sheep, and doves, and money changers seated at their tables.

15І, зробивши джгута з мотузків, повиганяв усїх із церкви, й вівцї й воли, а міняльникам порозсипав гроші, і столи поперевертав;So He made a whip out of cords and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle. He poured out the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.

16а тим, що голуби продавали, рече: Візьміть се звідсїля; не робіть дому Отця мого домом торговим.To those selling doves He said, “Get these out of here! How dare you turn My Father’s house into a marketplace!”

17Згадали ж ученики Його, що написано: Ревність дому твого зʼїла мене.His disciples remembered that it is written: “Zeal for Your house will consume Me.”

18Озвались тодї Жиди, й казали Йому: Що за знак покажеш нам, що се робиш?On account of this, the Jews demanded, “What sign can You show us to prove Your authority to do these things?”

19Озвавсь Ісус і рече їм: Зруйнуйте сю церкву, й я за три днї підніму вам її.Jesus answered, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up again.”

20Казали тодї Жиди: Сорок і шість років будовано церкву сю, а Ти в три днї піднімеш її?“This temple took forty-six years to build,” the Jews replied, “and You are going to raise it up in three days?”

21Він же глаголав про церкву тїла свого.But Jesus was speaking about the temple of His body.

22Як же встав з мертвих, згадали ученики Його, що Він се глаголав їм; і вірували писанню і слову, що глаголав Ісус.After He was raised from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had said this. Then they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.

23Як же був у Єрусалимі у пасху на сьвята, многі увірували в імя Його, побачивши чудеса Його, що робив.While He was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many people saw the signs He was doing and believed in His name.

24Сам же Ісус не звіряв ся їм, тим що знав усїх:But Jesus did not entrust Himself to them, for He knew them all.

25бо не треба було Йому, щоб хто сьвідкував про чоловіка, бо Він знав, що було в чоловіку.He did not need any testimony about man, for He knew what was in a man.
