1 ULB साऊल तीस बरस की 'उम्र में हुकूमत करने लगा, और इस्राईल पर दो बरस हुकूमत कर चुका| BSB BSB: Saul was thirty years old when he became king, and he reigned over Israel forty-two years.
2 ULB तो साऊल ने तीन हज़ार इस्राईली जवान अपने लिए चुने, उनमें से दो हज़ार मिक्मास में और बैत'एल के पहाड़ पर साऊल के साथ और एक हज़ार बिनयमीन के जिबा' में यूनतन के साथ रहे और बाक़ी लोगों को उसने रुख़्सत किया, कि अपने अपने डेरे को जाएँ| BSB BSB: He chose for himself three thousand men of Israel: Two thousand were with Saul at Michmash and in the hill country of Bethel, and a thousand were with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin. And the rest of the troops he sent away, each to his own home.
3 ULB और यूनतन ने फ़िलिस्तियों की चौकी के सिपाहियों को जो जिबा' में थे क़त्ल कर डाला और फ़िलिस्तियों ने यह सुना, और साऊल ने सारे मुल्क में नरसिंगा फुंकवा ~कर ~कहला भेजा कि 'इब्रानी लोग सुनें| BSB BSB: Then Jonathan attacked the Philistine outpost at Geba, and the Philistines heard about it. So Saul blew the ram’s horn throughout the land, saying, “Let the Hebrews hear!”
4 ULB और सारे इस्राईल ने यह कहते सुना, कि साऊल ने फ़िलिस्तियों की चौकी के सिपाही मार डाले और यह भी कि इस्राईल से फ़िलिस्तियों को नफ़रत हो गई है, तब लोग साऊल के पीछे चल कर जिल्जाल में जमा' हो गए| BSB BSB: And all Israel heard the news: “Saul has attacked an outpost of the Philistines, and now Israel has become a stench to the Philistines!” Then the people were summoned to join Saul at Gilgal.
5 ULB और फ़िलिस्ती इस्राईलियों से लड़ने को इकट्ठे हुए या'नी तीस हज़ार रथ और छ: हज़ार सवार और एक बड़ा गिरोह जैसे समन्दर के किनारे की रेत| इसलिए वह चढ़ आए और मिक्मास में बैतआवन के पूरब की तरफ़ ख़ेमाज़न हुए| BSB BSB: Now the Philistines assembled to fight against Israel with three thousand chariots, six thousand horsemen, and troops as numerous as the sand on the seashore. They went up and camped at Michmash, east of Beth-aven.
6 ULB जब बनी इस्राईल ने देखा, कि वह आफ़त में मुब्तिला हो गए, क्यूँकि लोग परेशान थे, तो वह ग़ारों और झाड़ियों और चट्टानों और गढ़यों और गढ़ों में जा छिपे| BSB BSB: Seeing that they were in danger because their troops were hard-pressed, the men of Israel hid in caves and thickets, among the rocks, and in cellars and cisterns.

8 ULB और वह वहाँ सात दिन समुएल के मुक़र्रर वक़्त के मुताबिक़ ठहरा रहा, लेकिन समुएल जिल्जाल में न आया, और लोग उसके पास से इधर उधर हो गए| BSB BSB: And Saul waited seven days for the time appointed by Samuel, but Samuel did not come to Gilgal, and the troops began to desert Saul.
9 ULB तब साऊल ने कहा,"सोख़्तनी क़ुर्बानी और सलामती की क़ुर्बानियों को मेरे पास लाओ," तब उसने सोख़्तनी क़ुर्बानी अदा की| BSB BSB: So he said, “Bring me the burnt offering and the peace offerings.” And he offered up the burnt offering.
10 ULB और जैसे ही वह सोख़्तनी क़ुर्बानी अदा कर चुका तो क्या, देखता है, कि समुएल आ पहुँचा और साऊल उसके इस्तक़बाल को निकला ताकि उसे सलाम करे BSB BSB: Just as he finished offering the burnt offering, Samuel arrived, and Saul went out to greet him.
11 ULB समुएल ने पूछा,"कि तूने क्या किया?" साऊल ने जवाब दिया कि जब मैंने देखा कि लोग मेरे पास से इधर उधर हो गए, और तू ठहराए, हुए दिनों के अन्दर नहीं आया, और फ़िलिस्ती मिक्मास में जमा' हो गए हैं| BSB BSB: “What have you done?” Samuel asked. And Saul replied, “When I saw that the troops were deserting me, and that you did not come at the appointed time and the Philistines were gathering at Michmash,
12 ULB तो मैंने सोंचा कि फ़िलिस्ती जिल्जाल में मुझ पर आ पड़ेंगे, और मैंने ख़ुदावन्द के करम के लिए अब तक दु'आ भी नहीं की है, इस लिए मैंने मजबूर होकर सोख़्तनी क़ुर्बानी अदा की|" BSB BSB: I thought, ‘Now the Philistines will descend upon me at Gilgal, and I have not sought the favor of the LORD.’ So I felt compelled to offer the burnt offering.”
13 ULB समुएल ने साऊल से कहा, "तूने बेवक़ूफ़ी की, तूने ख़ुदावन्द अपने ख़ुदा के हुक्म को जो उसने तुझे दिया, नहीं माना वर्ना ख़ुदावन्द तेरी बादशाहत बनी इस्राईल में हमेशा तक क़ायम रखता| BSB BSB: “You have acted foolishly,” Samuel declared. “You have not kept the command that the LORD your God gave you; if you had, the LORD would have established your kingdom over Israel for all time.
14 ULB लेकिन अब तेरी हुकूमत क़ायम न रहेगी क्यूँकि ख़ुदावन्द ने एक शख़्स को जो उसके दिल के मुताबिक़ है, तलाश कर लिया है और ख़ुदावन्द ने उसे अपनी क़ौम का सरदार ठहराया है, इसलिए कि तूने वह बात नहीं मानी जिसका हुक्म ख़ुदावन्द ने तुझे दिया था|" BSB BSB: But now your kingdom will not endure; the LORD has sought a man after His own heart and appointed him ruler over His people, because you have not kept the command of the LORD.”
15 ULB और समुएल ~उठकर जिल्जाल से बिनयमीन के जिबा' को गया तब साऊल ने उन लोगों को जो उसके साथ हाज़िर थे, गिना और वह क़रीबन छ:सौ थे BSB BSB: Then Samuel set out from Gilgal and went up to Gibeah in Benjamin. And Saul numbered the troops who were with him, about six hundred men.

17 ULB और ग़ारतगर फ़िलिस्तियों के लश्कर में से तीन ग़ोल होकर निकले एक ग़ोल तो सु'आल के 'इलाक़े को उफ़रह के रास्ते से गया| BSB BSB: And raiders went out of the Philistine camp in three divisions. One headed toward Ophrah in the land of Shual,
18 ULB और दूसरे ग़ोल ने बैतहोरून की राह ली और तीसरे ग़ोल ने उस सरहद की राह ली जिसका रुख़ वादी -ए-ज़ुबू'ईम की तरफ़ जंगल के सामने है| BSB BSB: another toward Beth-horon, and the third down the border road overlooking the Valley of Zeboim facing the wilderness.
19 ULB और इस्राईल के सारे मुल्क में कहीं लुहार नहीं मिलता था क्यूँकि फ़िलिस्तियों ने कहा था कि, 'इब्रानी लोग अपने लिए तलवारें और भाले न बनाने पाएँ| BSB BSB: And no blacksmith could be found in all the land of Israel, because the Philistines had said, “The Hebrews must not be allowed to make swords or spears.”
20 ULB इसलिए सब इस्राईली अपनी अपनी फाली और भाले और कुल्हाड़ी और कुदाल को तेज़ कराने के लिए फ़िलिस्तियों के पास जाते थे| BSB BSB: Instead, all the Israelites would go down to the Philistines to sharpen their plowshares, mattocks, axes, and sickles.
