1 ULB इस्राईल के बेटों के नाम जो अपने-अपने घराने को लेकर या'क़ूब के साथ मिस्र में आए यह हैं: BSB BSB: These are the names of the sons of Israel who went to Egypt with Jacob, each with his family:
2 ULB ~रूबिन, शमा'ऊन, लावी, यहूदाह, BSB BSB: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah;
3 ULB ~इश्कार, ज़बूलून, बिनयमीन, BSB BSB: Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin;
4 ULB ~दान, नफ़्ताली, जद्द, आशर BSB BSB: Dan and Naphtali; Gad and Asher.
5 ULB ~और सब जानें जो या'क़ूब के सुल्ब से पैदा हुई सत्तर थीं, और यूसुफ़ तो मिस्र में पहले ही से था। BSB BSB: The descendants of Jacob numbered seventy in all, including Joseph, who was already in Egypt.
6 ULB और यूसुफ़ और उसके सब भाई और उस नसल के सब लोग मर मिटे। BSB BSB: Now Joseph and all his brothers and all that generation died,
7 ULB और इस्राईल की औलाद क़ामयाब और ज़्यादा ता'दाद और फ़िरावान और बहुत ताक़तवर हो गई और वह मुल्क उनसे भर गया। BSB BSB: but the Israelites were fruitful and increased rapidly; they multiplied and became exceedingly numerous, so that the land was filled with them.
8 ULB ~तब मिस्र में एक नया बादशाह हुआ जो यूसुफ़ को नहीं जानता था। BSB BSB: Then a new king, who did not know Joseph, came to power in Egypt.
9 ULB ~और उसने अपनी क़ौम के लोगों से कहा, "देखो इस्राइली हम से ज़्यादा और ताक़तवर हो गए हैं। BSB BSB: “Look,” he said to his people, “the Israelites have become too numerous and too powerful for us.
10 ULB ~इसलिए आओ, हम उनके साथ हिकमत से पेश आएँ, ऐसा न हो कि जब वह और ज़्यादा हो जाएँ और उस वक़्त जंग छिड़ जाए तो वह हमारे दुश्मनों से मिल कर हम से लड़ें और मुल्क से निकल जाएँ।” BSB BSB: Come, let us deal shrewdly with them, or they will increase even more; and if a war breaks out, they may join our enemies, fight against us, and leave the country.”
12 ULB ~तब उन्होंने जितना उनको सताया वह उतना ही ज़्यादा बढ़ते और फैलते गए, इसलिए वह लोग बनी-इस्राईल की तरफ़ से फ़िक्रमन्द ही गए। BSB BSB: But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and flourished; so the Egyptians came to dread the Israelites.
13 ULB ~और मिस्रियों ने बनी-इस्राईल पर तशद्दुद कर-कर के उनसे काम कराया। BSB BSB: They worked the Israelites ruthlessly
15 ULB तब मिस्र के बादशाह ने'इब्रानी दाइयों से जिनमें एक का नाम सिफ़रा और दूसरी का नाम फू'आ था बातें की, BSB BSB: Then the king of Egypt said to the Hebrew midwives, whose names were Shiphrah and Puah,
16 ULB ~और कहा, "जब 'इब्रानी 'औरतों के तुम बच्चा जनाओ और उनको पत्थर की बैठकों पर बैठी देखो, तो अगर बेटा हो तो उसे मार डालना, और अगर बेटी हो तो वह जीती रहे।" BSB BSB: “When you help the Hebrew women give birth, observe them on the birthstools. If the child is a son, kill him; but if it is a daughter, let her live.”
17 ULB ~लेकिन वह दाइयाँ ख़ुदा से डरती थीं, तब उन्होंने मिस्र के बादशाह का हुक्म न माना बल्कि लड़कों को ज़िन्दा छोड़ देती थीं। BSB BSB: The midwives, however, feared God and did not do as the king of Egypt had instructed; they let the boys live.
18 ULB ~फिर मिस्र के बादशाह ने दाइयों को बुलवा कर उनसे कहा, "तुम ने ऐसा क्यूँ किया कि लड़कों को ज़िन्दा रहने दिया?" BSB BSB: So the king of Egypt summoned the midwives and asked them, “Why have you done this? Why have you let the boys live?”
19 ULB दाइयों ने फ़िर'औन से कहा, 'इब्रानी 'औरतें मिस्री 'औरतों की तरह नहीं हैं। वह ऐसी मज़बूत होती हैं कि दाइयों के पहुँचने से पहले ही जनकर फ़ारिग़ हो जाती हैं।" BSB BSB: The midwives answered Pharaoh, “The Hebrew women are not like the Egyptian women, for they are vigorous and give birth before a midwife arrives.”
20 ULB तब ख़ुदा ने दाइयों का भला किया और लोग बढ़े और बहुत ज़बरदस्त हो गए। BSB BSB: So God was good to the midwives, and the people multiplied and became even more numerous.
21 ULB और इस वजह से कि दाइयाँ ख़ुदा से डरी, उसने उनके घर आबाद कर दिए। BSB BSB: And because the midwives feared God, He gave them families of their own.
22 ULB ~और फ़िर'औन ने अपनी क़ौम के सब लोगों को ताकीदन कहा, "उनमें जो बेटा पैदा हो तुम उसे दरिया में डाल देना, और जो बेटी हो उसे ज़िन्दा छोड़ना।" BSB BSB: Then Pharaoh commanded all his people: “Every son born to the Hebrews you must throw into the Nile, but every daughter you may allow to live.”
