2 URDOUCV خصوصاً اُن باتوں کو ہم تک اُن لوگوں نے پہُنچایا جو شروع سے ہی اُن کے چشم دید گواہ اَور کلام کے خادِم تھے۔ BSB BSB: just as they were handed down to us by the initial eyewitnesses and servants of the word.
3 URDOUCV اِس لیٔے اَے محترم تھِیفلُسؔ، مَیں نے خُود شروع سے ہر بات کی خُوب تحقیق کی، اَور مُناسب سمجھا کہ سَب باتوں کو ترتیب وار تحریر کرکے آپ کی خدمت میں پیش کروں، BSB BSB: Therefore, having carefully investigated everything from the beginning, it seemed good also to me to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus,
4 URDOUCV تاکہ آپ کو مَعلُوم ہو جائے کہ جِن باتوں کی آپ نے تعلیم پائی ہے وہ کس قدر پُختہ ہیں۔ BSB BSB: so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.
6 URDOUCV وہ دونوں خُدا کی نظر میں راستباز تھے اَور خُداوؔند کے سَب اَحکام اَور قوانین پر پُوری طرح بے عیب عَمل کرتے تھے۔ BSB BSB: Both of them were righteous in the sight of God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and decrees of the Lord.
7 URDOUCV لیکن اُن کے اَولاد نہ تھی کیونکہ اِلیشاَبیتؔ بانجھ تھیں اَور دونوں عمر رسیدہ تھے۔ BSB BSB: But they had no children, because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both well along in years.
8 URDOUCV ایک بار زکریاؔہ کے فرقہ کی باری پر جَب وہ خُدا کے حُضُور کہانت کے فرائض اَنجام دے رہے تھے۔ BSB BSB: One day while Zechariah’s division was on duty and he was serving as priest before God,
9 URDOUCV تو کہانت کے دستور کے مُطابق زکریاؔہ کے نام کا قُرعہ نِکلا کہ وہ خُداوؔند کے بیت المُقدّس میں جا کر لوبان جَلائیں۔ BSB BSB: he was chosen by lot, according to the custom of the priesthood, to enter the temple of the Lord and burn incense.
10 URDOUCV جَب لوبان جَلانے کا وقت آیا اَور عبادت کرنے والے باہر جمع ہوکر دعا کر رہے تھے۔ BSB BSB: And at the hour of the incense offering, the whole congregation was praying outside.
11 URDOUCV تو خُداوؔند کا ایک فرشتہ زکریاؔہ کو لوبان کے مذبح کی داہنی طرف کھڑا ہُوا دِکھائی دیا۔ BSB BSB: Just then an angel of the Lord appeared to Zechariah, standing at the right side of the altar of incense.
12 URDOUCV زکریاؔہ اُسے دیکھ کر، گھبرا گیٔے اَور اُن پر دہشت طاری ہو گئی۔ BSB BSB: When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and gripped with fear.
13 URDOUCV لیکن فرشتہ نے اُن سے کہا: ”ڈرو مت، زکریاؔہ؛ تمہاری دعا سُن لی گئی ہے۔ تمہاری بیوی اِلیشاَبیتؔ سے تمہارے لیٔے ایک بیٹا پیدا ہوگا اَور تُم اُس کا نام یُوحنّا رکھنا۔ BSB BSB: But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to give him the name John.
14 URDOUCV وہ تمہارے لیٔے خُوشی اَور شادمانی کا باعث ہوگا اَور بہت سے لوگ اُس کی وِلادت سے خُوش ہوں گے BSB BSB: He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice at his birth,
15 URDOUCV کیونکہ وہ خُداوؔند کی نظر میں عظیم ٹھہرے گا۔ وہ انگوری شِیرے اَور شراب سے ہمیشہ دُور رہے گا اَور اَپنی ماں کے رحم ہی سے پاک رُوح سے معموُر ہوگا۔ BSB BSB: for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He shall never take wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from his mother’s womb.
16 URDOUCV وہ بنی اِسرائیلؔ میں سے بہت سے افراد کو خُداوؔند کی طرف جو اُن کا خُدا ہے واپس لے آئے گا۔ BSB BSB: Many of the sons of Israel he will turn back to the Lord their God.
18 URDOUCV زکریاؔہ نے فرشتہ سے پُوچھا، ”میں یہ کیسے یقین کروں؟ میں تو بُوڑھا ہُوں اَور میری بیوی بھی عمر رسیدہ ہے۔“ BSB BSB: “How can I be sure of this?” Zechariah asked the angel. “I am an old man, and my wife is well along in years.”
19 URDOUCV فرشتہ نے جَواب دیا، ”میں گیبریلؔ ہُوں۔ میں خُدا کے حُضُور کھڑا رہتا ہُوں، اَور مُجھے اِس لیٔے بھیجا گیا ہے کہ مَیں تُجھ سے کلام کروں اَور تُجھے یہ خُوشخبری سُناؤں۔ BSB BSB: “I am Gabriel,” replied the angel. “I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news.
20 URDOUCV اَور سُنو! جَب تک یہ باتیں پُوری نہیں ہو جاتیں تمہاری زبان بند رہے گی اَور تُم بول نہ سکوگے، کیونکہ تُم نے میری اِن باتوں کا، یقین نہ کیا جو اَپنے وقت پر پُوری ہُوں گی۔“ BSB BSB: And now you will be silent and unable to speak until the day this comes to pass, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled at their proper time.”
21 URDOUCV اُس دَوران، لوگ زکریاؔہ کا اِنتظار کر رہے تھے اَور حیران تھے کہ اُنہیں بیت المُقدّس میں اِتنی دیر کیوں ہو رہی ہے۔ BSB BSB: Meanwhile, the people were waiting for Zechariah and wondering why he took so long in the temple.
22 URDOUCV جَب وہ باہر آئے، تو اُن سے بول نہ سکے۔ وہ سمجھ گیٔے کہ زکریاؔہ نے بیت المُقدّس میں کویٔی رُویا دیکھی ہے، کیونکہ وہ اُن سے اِشاروں میں باتیں کرتے تھے لیکن بول نہیں سکتے تھے۔ BSB BSB: When he came out and was unable to speak to them, they realized he had seen a vision in the temple. He kept making signs to them but remained unable to speak.
23 URDOUCV جَب زکریاؔہ کی خدمت کے دِن پُورے ہو گئے، تو وہ گھر چلے گیٔے۔ BSB BSB: And when the days of his service were complete, he returned home.
24 URDOUCV اِس کے بعد زکریاؔہ کی بیوی اِلیشاَبیتؔ حاملہ ہو گئیں اَور اُنہُوں نے خُود کو پانچ مہینوں تک چُھپائے رکھا۔ BSB BSB: After these days, his wife Elizabeth became pregnant and for five months remained in seclusion. She declared,
25 URDOUCV اِلیشاَبیتؔ نے کہا، ”خُداوؔند نے میرے لیٔے یہ کام کیا ہے، خُداوؔند نے اِن دِنوں میں مُجھ پر نظریں کرم کی اَور مُجھے لوگوں میں رُسوا ہونے سے بچا لیا۔“ BSB BSB: “The Lord has done this for me. In these days He has shown me favor and taken away my disgrace among the people.”
27 URDOUCV ایک کنواری کے پاس بھیجا جِن کی منگنی حضرت یُوسیفؔ نام کے ایک مَرد سے ہو چُکی تھی، جو حضرت داویؔد کی نَسل سے تھے۔ اُس کنواری کا نام حضرت مریمؔ تھا۔ BSB BSB: to a virgin pledged in marriage to a man named Joseph, who was of the house of David. And the virgin’s name was Mary.
28 URDOUCV فرشتہ نے اُن کے پاس آکر کہا، ”سلام، آپ پر بڑا فضل ہُواہے! خُداوؔند آپ کے ساتھ ہے۔“ BSB BSB: The angel appeared to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”
29 URDOUCV حضرت مریمؔ، فرشتہ کا کلام سُن کر بہت گھبرا گئیں اَور سوچنے لگیں کہ یہ کیسا سلام ہے۔ BSB BSB: Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be.
30 URDOUCV لیکن فرشتہ نے اُن سے کہا، ”اَے مریمؔ! خوف نہ کر؛ آپ پر خُدا کا فضل ہُواہے۔ BSB BSB: So the angel told her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.
31 URDOUCV آپ حاملہ ہوں گی اَور آپ کو ایک بیٹا پیدا ہوگا۔ آپ اُن کا نام یِسوعؔ رکھنا۔ BSB BSB: Behold, you will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus.
32 URDOUCV وہ عظیم ہوں گے اَور خُداتعالیٰ کا بیٹا کہلایٔیں گے۔ خُداوؔند خُدا اُن کے باپ حضرت داویؔد کا تخت اُنہیں دے گا، BSB BSB: He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David,
33 URDOUCV اَور وہ حضرت یعقوب کے گھرانے پر ہمیشہ تک بادشاہی کریں گے؛ اُن کی بادشاہی کبھی ختم نہ ہوگی۔“ BSB BSB: and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever. His kingdom will never end!”
35 URDOUCV فرشتہ نے جَواب دیا، ”پاک رُوح آپ پر نازل ہوگا، اَور خُداتعالیٰ کی قُدرت آپ پر سایہ ڈالے گی۔ اِس لیٔے وہ قُدُّوس جو پیدا ہونے والے ہیں، خُدا کا بیٹا کہلایٔیں گے۔ BSB BSB: The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the Holy One to be born will be called the Son of God.
36 URDOUCV اَور دیکھو، آپ کی رشتہ دار، اِلیشاَبیتؔ کے بُڑھاپے میں بھی بیٹا ہونے والا ہے، جنہیں لوگ بانجھ کہتے تھے وہ چھ ماہ سے حاملہ ہیں۔ BSB BSB: Look, even Elizabeth your relative has conceived a son in her old age, and she who was called barren is in her sixth month.
37 URDOUCV کیونکہ خُدا کا کویٔی بھی کلام کبھی ناکام نہیں ہوتا۔“ BSB BSB: For no word from God will ever fail.”
39 URDOUCV اُن ہی دِنوں میں حضرت مریمؔ تیّار ہوکر فوراً یہُودیؔہ کے پہاڑی علاقہ کے ایک شہر کو گئیں، BSB BSB: In those days Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judah,
40 URDOUCV اَور حضرت زکریاؔہ کے گھر میں داخل ہوکر اِلیشاَبیتؔ کو سلام کیا۔ BSB BSB: where she entered the home of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth.
41 URDOUCV جَب اِلیشاَبیتؔ نے حضرت مریمؔ کا سلام سُنا تو، بچّہ اُن کے رحم میں اُچھل پڑا اَور اِلیشاَبیتؔ پاک رُوح سے بھر گئیں۔ BSB BSB: When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
42 URDOUCV اَور بُلند آواز سے پُکار کر کہنے لگیں: ”آپ عورتوں میں مُبارک ہیں، اَور مُبارک ہے آپ کا پیدا ہونے والا بچّہ! BSB BSB: In a loud voice she exclaimed, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!
43 URDOUCV لیکن مُجھ پر یہ فضل کِس لیٔے ہُوا، کہ میرے خُداوؔند کی ماں میرے پاس آئی؟ BSB BSB: And why am I so honored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
44 URDOUCV کیونکہ جُوں ہی آپ کے سلام کی آواز میرے کانوں میں پہُنچی، بچّہ خُوشی کے مارے میرے پیٹ میں اُچھل پڑا۔ BSB BSB: For as soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.
45 URDOUCV مُبارک ہو تُم جو ایمان لائیں کہ خُداوؔند نے جو کُچھ آپ سے کہا وہ پُورا ہوکر رہے گا!“ BSB BSB: Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord’s word to her will be fulfilled.”
47 URDOUCV اَور میری رُوح میرے مُنجّی خُدا سے نہایت خُوش ہے، BSB BSB: and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior!
49 URDOUCV کیونکہ خُدائے قادر نے میرے لیٔے بڑے بڑے کام کیٔے ہیں۔ اَور اُن کا نام قُدُّوس ہے۔ BSB BSB: For the Mighty One has done great things for me. Holy is His name.
50 URDOUCV خُدا کی رحمت اُس سے ڈرنے والوں پر، نَسل بہ نَسل جاری رہتی ہے۔ BSB BSB: His mercy extends to those who fear Him, from generation to generation.
51 URDOUCV خُدا نے اَپنے بازو سے عظیم کام کیٔے ہیں؛ جو اَپنے آپ کو بڑا سمجھتے تھے، اُس نے اُنہیں پراگندہ کر دیا۔ BSB BSB: He has performed mighty deeds with His arm; He has scattered those who are proud in the thoughts of their hearts.
52 URDOUCV خُدا نے حُکمرانوں کو اُن کے تخت سے اُتار دیا لیکن حلیموں کو سرفراز کر دیا۔ BSB BSB: He has brought down rulers from their thrones, but has exalted the humble.
53 URDOUCV خُدا نے بھُوکوں کو اَچھّی چیزوں سے سیر کر دیا لیکن دولتمندوں کو خالی ہاتھ لَوٹا دیا۔ BSB BSB: He has filled the hungry with good things, but has sent the rich away empty.
54 URDOUCV خُدا نے اَپنے خادِم اِسرائیلؔ کی مدد کی ہے، خُدا نے اَپنے رحم دِل ہونے کے وعدہ کو یاد رکھا ہے BSB BSB: He has helped His servant Israel, remembering to be merciful,
55 URDOUCV جو خُدا نے اَبدی وعدہ حضرت اَبراہامؔ اَور اُن کی نَسل سے، اَور ہمارے باپ دادا، سے کیا تھا۔“ BSB BSB: as He promised to our fathers, to Abraham and his descendants forever.”
56 URDOUCV اَور حضرت مریمؔ تقریباً تین ماہ تک اِلیشاَبیتؔ کے ساتھ رہیں۔ پھر اَپنے گھر لَوٹ گئیں۔ BSB BSB: Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home.
57 URDOUCV اَب اِلیشاَبیتؔ کے وضعِ حَمل کا وقت آ پہُنچا، تو اُن کے ایک بیٹا پیدا ہُوا۔ BSB BSB: When the time came for Elizabeth to have her child, she gave birth to a son.
58 URDOUCV اُن کے پڑوسیوں اَور رشتہ داروں نے یہ سُن کر کہ خُداوؔند نے اِلیشاَبیتؔ پر بڑی رحمت کی ہے، اُن کے ساتھ مِل کر خُوشی منائی۔ BSB BSB: Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown her great mercy, and they rejoiced with her.
59 URDOUCV آٹھویں دِن وہ بچّے کا ختنہ کرنے کے لیٔے آئے اَور بچّہ کا نام اُس کے باپ کے نام پر زکریاؔہ رکھنے لگے۔ BSB BSB: On the eighth day, when they came to circumcise the child, they were going to name him after his father Zechariah.
60 URDOUCV لیکن اُن کی ماں بول اُٹھیں اَور کہنے لگیں، ”نہیں! بچّہ کا نام یُوحنّا ہوگا۔“ BSB BSB: But his mother replied, “No! He shall be called John.”
61 URDOUCV اُنہُوں نے اِلیشاَبیتؔ سے کہا، ”تمہارے خاندان میں کویٔی بھی اِس نام کا نہیں ہے۔“ BSB BSB: They said to her, “There is no one among your relatives who bears this name.”
62 URDOUCV تَب اُنہُوں نے بچّے کے باپ سے اِشاروں میں پُوچھا، کہ تُم بچّے کا نام کیا رکھنا چاہتے ہو۔ BSB BSB: So they made signs to his father to find out what he wanted to name the child.
63 URDOUCV حضرت زکریاؔہ نے تختی منگوائی، اَور اُس پر یہ لِکھ کر سَب کو حیرت میں ڈال دیا کہ، ”بچّہ کا نام یُوحنّا ہے۔“ BSB BSB: Zechariah asked for a tablet and wrote, “His name is John.” And they were all amazed.
64 URDOUCV اُسی وقت حضرت زکریاؔہ کا مُنہ کھُل گیا اَور اُن کی زبان کام کرنے لگی، اَور وہ بولنے لگے، اَور خُدا کی تعریف کرنے لگے۔ BSB BSB: Immediately Zechariah’s mouth was opened and his tongue was released, and he began to speak, praising God.
65 URDOUCV اِس واقعہ سے پڑوس کے تمام لوگوں پر دہشت چھاگئی، اَور یہُودیؔہ کے تمام پہاڑی علاقوں میں اِن سَب باتوں کا تذکرہ ہونے لگا۔ BSB BSB: All their neighbors were filled with awe, and people throughout the hill country of Judea were talking about these events.
66 URDOUCV اَور سَب سُننے والے حیران ہوکر سوچتے تھے کہ، ”یہ بچّہ بڑا ہوکر کیا بنے گا؟“ کیونکہ خُداوؔند کا ہاتھ اُن کے ساتھ تھا۔ BSB BSB: And all who heard this wondered in their hearts and asked, “What then will this child become?” For the Lord’s hand was with him.
67 URDOUCV تَب اُن کے باپ زکریاؔہ پاک رُوح سے معموُر ہوکر نبُوّت کرنے لگے: BSB BSB: Then his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied:
68 URDOUCV ”اِسرائیلؔ کے خُداوؔند، خُدا کی حَمد ہو، کیونکہ خُدا نے آکر اَپنے لوگوں کو مخلصی بخشی۔ BSB BSB: “Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, because He has visited and redeemed His people.
69 URDOUCV اُس نے اَپنے خادِم حضرت داویؔد کے گھرانے میں ہمارے لیٔے ایک طاقتور سینگ نَجات دِہندہ کو بھیجا BSB BSB: He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of His servant David,
70 URDOUCV (جَیسا اُس نے زمانہ قدیم میں اَپنے مُقدّس نبیوں کے مَعرفت فرمایا تھا)، BSB BSB: as He spoke through His holy prophets, those of ages past,
71 URDOUCV تاکہ ہم اَپنے سبھی دُشمنوں سے اَور نفرت رکھنے والوں سے نَجات پائیں BSB BSB: salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us,
72 URDOUCV کہ وہ ہمارے باپ دادا پر رحم کرے اَور اَپنے پاک عہد کو یاد فرمایٔے، BSB BSB: to show mercy to our fathers and to remember His holy covenant,
73 URDOUCV یعنی اُس قَسم کو جو اُس نے ہمارے باپ حضرت اَبراہامؔ سے کھائی تھی: BSB BSB: the oath He swore to our father Abraham, to grant us
74 URDOUCV کہ وہ ہمیں ہمارے دُشمنوں سے چُھڑائے گا، اَور ہمیں بے خوف اَپنی خدمت کرنے کے لائق بنائے گا، BSB BSB: deliverance from hostile hands, that we may serve Him without fear,
75 URDOUCV تاکہ اُس کی حُضُوری میں پاکیزگی اَور راستبازی سے زندگی بھر رہ سکیں۔ BSB BSB: in holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our lives.
76 URDOUCV ”اَور اَے میرے بچّے، تُو خُداتعالیٰ کا نبی کہلائے گا؛ کیونکہ تُم خُداوؔند کے آگے آگے چل کر اُن کی راہ تیّار کروگے، BSB BSB: And you, child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for Him,
77 URDOUCV تاکہ خُداوؔند کے لوگوں کو نَجات کا علم بخشو، جو گُناہوں کی مُعافی سے حاصل ہوتی ہے، BSB BSB: to give to His people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins,
78 URDOUCV ہمارے خُدا کی اُس بڑی رحمت کی وجہ سے، ہم پر عالمِ بالا کا آفتاب طُلوع ہوگا BSB BSB: because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the Dawn will visit us from on high,
79 URDOUCV تاکہ اُن کو رَوشنی بخشے جو تاریکی اَور موت کے سایہ میں بیٹھے ہیں، اَور ہمارے قدموں کو سلامتی کی راہ پر لے چلے۔“ BSB BSB: to shine on those who live in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.”
80 URDOUCV اَور وہ بچّہ بڑھتا گیا اَور رُوحانی طور پر قُوّت پاتا گیا؛ اَور اِسرائیلؔ پر عام طور پر ظاہر ہونے سے پہلے بیابان میں رہا۔ BSB BSB: And the child grew and became strong in spirit; and he lived in the wilderness until the time of his public appearance to Israel.
