2 Kings 13 (ULB)

1Năm thứ hai mươi ba trong đời Giô-ách con trai A-ha-xia, vua Giu-đa, Giê-hô-a-ha con trai Giê-hu lên ngôi cai trị Y-sơ-ra-ên tại Sa-ma-ri; ông trị vì mười bảy năm.In the twenty-third year of the reign of Joash son of Ahaziah over Judah, Jehoahaz son of Jehu became king of Israel, and he reigned in Samaria seventeen years.

2Ông làm điều ác trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va và noi theo tội lỗi của Giê-rô-bô-am con trai Nê-bát, là người đã xui Y-sơ-ra-ên phạm tội; Giê-hô-a-ha không từ bỏ những tội lỗi đó.And he did evil in the sight of the LORD and followed the sins that Jeroboam son of Nebat had caused Israel to commit; he did not turn away from them.

3Cơn giận của Đức Giê-hô-va nổi bừng lên Y-sơ-ra-ên, Ngài cứ phó họ vào tay Ha-xa-ên vua A-ram, và Bên Ha-đát con trai Ha-xa-ên.So the anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and He delivered them continually into the hands of Hazael king of Aram and his son Ben-hadad.

4Giê-hô-a-ha khẩn nài Đức Giê-hô-va, và Đức Giê-hô-va lắng nghe ông vì Ngài thấy cảnh áp bức của Y-sơ-ra-ên, cách vua A-ram đàn áp họ.Then Jehoahaz sought the favor of the LORD, and the LORD listened to him because He saw the oppression that the king of Aram had inflicted on Israel.

5Đức Giê-hô-va ban cho Y-sơ-ra-ên một người giải cứu, họ được thoát khỏi quyền lực của người A-ram và sống an thái trong nhà như trước.So the LORD gave Israel a deliverer, and they escaped the power of the Arameans. Then the people of Israel lived in their own homes as they had before.

The Asherah pole even remained standing in Samaria.

7Dân A-ram chỉ chừa lại cho Giê-hô-a-ha năm mươi kỵ binh, mười xe chiến mã, và mười ngàn lính bộ binh, vì vua A-ram đã phá hủy chúng và khiến giống như rơm rạ khi đạp lúa.Jehoahaz had no army left, except fifty horsemen, ten chariots, and ten thousand foot soldiers, because the king of Aram had destroyed them and made them like the dust at threshing.

9Vậy Giê-hô-a-ha an giấc cùng tổ phụ, người ta chôn ông tại Sa-ma-ri. Giô-ách con trai ông lên kế vị.And Jehoahaz rested with his fathers and was buried in Samaria. And his son Jehoash reigned in his place.

10Năm thứ ba mươi bảy trong đời Giô-ách vua Giu-đa, Giê-hô-ách con trai Giê-hô-a-ha cai trị Y-sơ-ra-ên tại Sa-ma-ri; ông trị vì mười sáu năm.In the thirty-seventh year of the reign of Joash over Judah, Jehoash son of Jehoahaz became king of Israel in Samaria, and he reigned sixteen years.

Ông không từ bỏ tội lỗi của Giê-rô-bô-am con trai Nê-bát, là người đã xui Y-sơ-ra-ên phạm tội, nhưng lại noi theo những tội lỗi đó.And he did evil in the sight of the LORD and did not turn away from all the sins that Jeroboam son of Nebat had caused Israel to commit, but he walked in them.

13Giô-ách an giấc cùng tổ phụ mình, Giê-rô-bô-am lên kế vị. Giô-ách được chôn tại Sa-ma-ri chung với các vua Y-sơ-ra-ên.And Jehoash rested with his fathers, and Jeroboam succeeded him on the throne. Jehoash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.

14Bấy giờ Ê-li-sê bị bệnh rồi sau đó qua đời, Giô-ách vua Y-sơ-ra-ên đi xuống thăm và than khóc ông. Ông nói, “Cha tôi ơi, cha tôi ơi, các xe chiến mã của Y-sơ-ra-ên và lính kỵ ơi!”When Elisha had fallen sick with the illness from which he would die, Jehoash king of Israel came down to him and wept over him, saying, “My father, my father, the chariots and horsemen of Israel!”

15Ê-li-sê bảo ông, “Hãy lấy cung và tên,” vậy Giô-ách lấy một cây cung và vài mũi tên.Elisha told him, “Take a bow and some arrows.” So Jehoash took a bow and some arrows.

16Ê-li-sê bảo vua Y-sơ-ra-ên, “Hãy cầm cung, “ông cầm cung. Ê-li-sê đặt tay ông lên tay vua.Then Elisha said to the king of Israel, “Put your hand on the bow.” So the king put his hand on the bow, and Elisha put his hands on the king’s hands.

17Ê-li-sê nói, “Hãy mở cửa về hướng đông,” ông liền mở nó. Ê-li-sê bảo, “Bắn!” ông bắn. Ê-li-sê nói, “Đây là mũi tên chiến thắng của Đức Giê-hô-va, mũi tên chiến thắng quân A-ram, vì vua sẽ tấn công dân A-ram ở A-phéc cho đến khi đã tiêu diệt được chúng.”“Open the east window,” said Elisha. So he opened it and Elisha said, “Shoot!” So he shot. And Elisha declared: “This is the LORD’s arrow of victory, the arrow of victory over Aram, for you shall strike the Arameans in Aphek until you have put an end to them.”

18Ê-li-sê nói, “Hãy lấy các mũi tên,” Giô-ách lấy các mũi tên. Ông bảo vua Y-sơ-ra-ên, “Hãy đập xuống đất,” ông đập xuống đất ba lần rồi ngừng lại.Then Elisha said, “Take the arrows!” So he took them, and Elisha said to the king of Israel, “Strike the ground!” So he struck the ground three times and stopped.

19Nhưng người của Đức Chúa Trời giận ông và nói, “Lẽ ra vua nên đập xuống đất năm hay sáu lần. Rồi vua sẽ tấn công A-ram cho đến khi vua đã tiêu diệt hết chúng, nhưng bây giờ vua sẽ đánh A-ram chỉ ba lần thôi.”But the man of God was angry with him and said, “You should have struck the ground five or six times. Then you would have struck down Aram until you had put an end to it. But now you will strike down Aram only three times.”

20Sau đó Ê-li-sê qua đời và được đem chôn. Bấy giờ, các toán quân Mô-áp xâm chiếm xứ vào đầu năm.And Elisha died and was buried. Now the Moabite raiders used to come into the land every spring.

And as soon as his body touched the bones of Elisha, the man was revived and stood up on his feet.

22Ha-xa-ên vua A-ram đàn áp Y-sơ-ra-ên trong suốt triều đại của Giê-hô-a-ha.And Hazael king of Aram oppressed Israel throughout the reign of Jehoahaz.

23Nhưng Đức Giê-hô-va tỏ lòng nhân từ với Y-sơ-ra-ên, Ngài thương xót họ và quan tâm đến họ, vì cớ giao ước của Ngài với Áp-ra-ham, Y-sác, và Gia-cốp. Vậy Đức Giê-hô-va không diệt họ, Ngài vẫn không đuổi họ khuất mắt Ngài.But the LORD was gracious to Israel and had compassion on them, and He turned toward them because of His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. And to this day, the LORD has been unwilling to destroy them or cast them from His presence.

24Ha-xa-ên vua A-ram băng hà, và Bên Ha-đát con trai ông lên kế vị.When Hazael king of Aram died, his son Ben-hadad reigned in his place.

25Giê-hô-ách con trai Giê-hô-a-ha giành lại từ tay Bên Ha-đát con trai Ha-xa-ên các thành phố bị chiếm khỏi tay Giê-hô-a-ha cha ông trong cuộc chiến. Giô-ách đánh vua ấy ba lần, và thu hồi lại các thành phố ở Y-sơ-ra-ên.Then Jehoash son of Jehoahaz took back from Ben-hadad son of Hazael the cities that Hazael had taken in battle from his father Jehoahaz. Jehoash defeated Ben-hadad three times, and so recovered the cities of Israel.
