2 ULB “Hãy cử vài người đi thám thính xứ Ca-na-an, là xứ mà Ta ban cho dân Y-sơ-ra-ên. Hãy cử mỗi chi phái một người. Người đó phải là lãnh đạo trong chi phái mình.” BSB BSB: “Send out for yourself men to spy out the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites. From each of their fathers’ tribes send one man who is a leader among them.”
3 ULB Môi-se sai họ đi vào hoang mạc Pha-ran, theo lệnh của Đức Giê-hô-va. Tất cả họ đều là những nhà lãnh đạo trong dân Y-sơ-ra-ên. BSB BSB: So at the command of the LORD, Moses sent them out from the Wilderness of Paran. All the men were leaders of the Israelites,

6 ULB Chi phái Giu-đa có Ca-lép, con trai Giê-phu-nê. BSB BSB: from the tribe of Judah, Caleb son of Jephunneh;
7 ULB Chi phái Y-sa-ca có Di-ganh, con trai Giô-sép. BSB BSB: from the tribe of Issachar, Igal son of Joseph;
8 ULB Chi phái Ép-ra-im có Hô-sê-a, con trai Nun. BSB BSB: from the tribe of Ephraim, Hoshea son of Nun;
9 ULB Chi phái Ben-gia-min có Phan-ti, con trai Ra-phu. BSB BSB: from the tribe of Benjamin, Palti son of Raphu;
10 ULB Chi phái Sa-bu-lôn có Gát-đi-ên, con trai Sô-đi. BSB BSB: from the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel son of Sodi;
11 ULB Về phía con cháu Giô-sép, gồm chi phái Ma-na-se, trong đó có Gát-đi, con trai Su-si. BSB BSB: from the tribe of Manasseh (a tribe of Joseph), Gaddi son of Susi;
12 ULB Chi phái Đan có A-mi-ên, con trai Ghê-ma-li. BSB BSB: from the tribe of Dan, Ammiel son of Gemalli;
13 ULB Chi phái A-se có Sê-thu, con trai Mi-ca-ên. BSB BSB: from the tribe of Asher, Sethur son of Michael;
14 ULB Chi phái Nép-ta-li có Na-bi, con trai Vấp-si. BSB BSB: from the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi son of Vophsi;
15 ULB Chi phái Gát có Gu-ên, con trai Ma-ki. BSB BSB: and from the tribe of Gad, Geuel son of Machi.
16 ULB Đó là tên những người được Môi-se sai đi thám thính xứ. Môi-se gọi Hô-sê-a con trai Nun là Giô-suê. BSB BSB: These were the names of the men Moses sent to spy out the land; and Moses gave to Hoshea son of Nun the name Joshua.

19 ULB Xứ họ ra sao. Tốt hay xấu? Có thành phố nào ở đó? Các thành đó có giống như trại hay là đó là thành trì kiên cố? BSB BSB: Is the land where they live good or bad? Are the cities where they dwell open camps or fortifications?
20 ULB Đất đai thế nào, có phì nhiêu để trồng trọt không và có cây cối không. Hãy dũng cảm và đem về mẫu vật của xứ đó.” Bấy giờ là đầu mùa nho. BSB BSB: Is the soil fertile or unproductive? Are there trees in it or not? Be courageous and bring back some of the fruit of the land.” (It was the season for the first ripe grapes.)
21 ULB Vậy họ đi lên do thám xứ từ hoang mạc Sin đến Rê-hốp, gần Lê-bô Ha-mát. BSB BSB: So they went up and spied out the land from the Wilderness of Zin as far as Rehob, toward Lebo-hamath.

BSB BSB: When they came to the Valley of Eshcol, they cut down a branch with a single cluster of grapes, which they carried on a pole between two men. They also took some pomegranates and figs.
24 ULB Nơi đó được gọi là thung lũng Ếch-côn, vì người Y-sơ-ra-ên đã hái một chùm nho. BSB BSB: Because of the cluster of grapes the Israelites cut there, that place was called the Valley of Eshcol.

We seemed like grasshoppers in our own sight, and we must have seemed the same to them!”
