Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread (Exodus 12:14–28; Leviticus 23:4–8; Numbers 28:16–25)
1 WBS Observe the month Abib, and keep the passover to the LORD thy God: for in the month of Abib the LORD thy God brought thee forth from Egypt by night. BSB BSB: Observe the month of Abib and celebrate the Passover to the LORD your God, because in the month of Abib the LORD your God brought you out of Egypt by night.
2 WBS Thou shalt therefore sacrifice the passover to the LORD thy God, of the flock and the herd, in the place which the LORD shall choose to place his name there. BSB BSB: You are to offer to the LORD your God the Passover sacrifice from the herd or flock in the place the LORD will choose as a dwelling for His Name.
3 WBS Thou shalt eat no leavened bread with it; seven days shalt thou eat unleavened bread with it, even the bread of affliction; for thou camest forth from the land of Egypt in haste: that thou mayest remember the day when thou camest forth from the land of Egypt, all the days of thy life. BSB BSB: You must not eat leavened bread with it; for seven days you are to eat with it unleavened bread, the bread of affliction, because you left the land of Egypt in haste—so that you may remember for the rest of your life the day you left the land of Egypt.
4 WBS And there shall be no leavened bread seen with thee in all thy borders seven days; neither shall there any thing of the flesh, which thou didst sacrifice the first day at evening, remain all night until the morning. BSB BSB: No leaven is to be found in all your land for seven days, and none of the meat you sacrifice in the evening of the first day shall remain until morning.
5 WBS Thou mayest not sacrifice the passover within any of thy gates, which the LORD thy God giveth thee. BSB BSB: You are not to sacrifice the Passover animal in any of the towns that the LORD your God is giving you.
6 WBS But at the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name in, there thou shalt sacrifice the passover at evening, at the setting of the sun, at the time of thy departure from Egypt. BSB BSB: You must only offer the Passover sacrifice at the place the LORD your God will choose as a dwelling for His Name. Do this in the evening as the sun sets, at the same time you departed from Egypt.
7 WBS And thou shalt roast and eat it in the place which the LORD thy God shall choose: and thou shalt turn in the morning, and go to thy tents. BSB BSB: And you shall roast it and eat it in the place the LORD your God will choose, and in the morning you shall return to your tents.
8 WBS Six days thou shalt eat unleavened bread: and on the seventh day shall be a solemn assembly to the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt do no work. BSB BSB: For six days you must eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day you shall hold a solemn assembly to the LORD your God, and you must not do any work.
The Feast of Weeks (Numbers 28:26–31)
9 WBS Seven weeks shalt thou number to thee: begin to number the seven weeks from the time when thou beginnest to put the sickle to the corn. BSB BSB: You are to count off seven weeks from the time you first put the sickle to the standing grain.
10 WBS And thou shalt keep the feast of weeks to the LORD thy God with a tribute of a free-will-offering of thy hand, which thou shalt give to the LORD thy God , according as the LORD thy God hath blessed thee: BSB BSB: And you shall celebrate the Feast of Weeks to the LORD your God with a freewill offering that you give in proportion to how the LORD your God has blessed you,
11 WBS And thou shalt rejoice before the LORD thy God, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy man-servant, and thy maid-servant, and the Levite that is within thy gates, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are among you, in the place which the LORD thy God hath chosen to place his name there. BSB BSB: and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God in the place He will choose as a dwelling for His Name—you, your sons and daughters, your menservants and maidservants, and the Levite within your gates, as well as the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widows among you.
12 WBS And thou shalt remember that thou wast a bond-man in Egypt: and thou shalt observe and do these statutes. BSB BSB: Remember that you were slaves in Egypt, and carefully follow these statutes.
The Feast of Tabernacles (Numbers 29:12–40)
13 WBS Thou shalt observe the feast of tabernacles seven days, after that thou hast gathered in thy corn, and thy wine. BSB BSB: You are to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days after you have gathered the produce of your threshing floor and your winepress.
14 WBS And thou shalt rejoice in thy feast, thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy man-servant, and thy maid-servant, and the Levite, the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within thy gates: BSB BSB: And you shall rejoice in your feast—you, your sons and daughters, your menservants and maidservants, and the Levite, as well as the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widows among you.
15 WBS Seven days shalt thou keep a solemn feast to the LORD thy God in the place which the LORD shall choose: because the LORD thy God shall bless thee in all thy increase, and in all the works of thy hands, therefore thou shalt surely rejoice. BSB BSB: For seven days you shall celebrate a feast to the LORD your God in the place He will choose, because the LORD your God will bless you in all your produce and in all the work of your hands, so that your joy will be complete.
16 WBS Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the LORD thy God in the place which he shall choose; in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before the LORD empty: BSB BSB: Three times a year all your men are to appear before the LORD your God in the place He will choose: at the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the Feast of Weeks, and the Feast of Tabernacles. No one should appear before the LORD empty-handed.
17 WBS Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD thy God which he hath given thee. BSB BSB: Everyone must appear with a gift as he is able, according to the blessing the LORD your God has given you.
Judges and Justice 18 WBS Judges and officers shalt thou make thee in all thy gates, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, throughout thy tribes: and they shall judge the people with just judgment. BSB BSB: You are to appoint judges and officials for your tribes in every town that the LORD your God is giving you. They are to judge the people with righteous judgment.
19 WBS Thou shalt not wrest judgment; thou shalt not respect persons, neither take a gift; for a gift doth blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous. BSB BSB: Do not deny justice or show partiality. Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous.
20 WBS That which is altogether just shalt thou follow, that thou mayest live, and inherit the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. BSB BSB: Pursue justice, and justice alone, so that you may live, and you may possess the land that the LORD your God is giving you.
Forbidden Forms of Worship 22 WBS Neither shalt thou set thee up any image; which the LORD thy God hateth. BSB BSB: and do not set up for yourselves a sacred pillar, which the LORD your God hates.
