Provision for Priests and Levites (1 Corinthians 9:1–18)
WBS The priests the Levites, and all the tribe of Levi, shall have no part nor inheritance with Israel: they shall eat the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and his inheritance. BSB BSB: The Levitical priests—indeed the whole tribe of Levi—shall have no portion or inheritance with Israel. They are to eat the food offerings to the LORD; that is their inheritance.
WBS Therefore shall they have no inheritance among their brethren: the LORD is their inheritance, as he hath said to them. BSB BSB: Although they have no inheritance among their brothers, the LORD is their inheritance, as He promised them.
WBS And this shall be the priest's due from the people, from them that offer a sacrifice, whether ox or sheep; and they shall give to the priest the shoulder, and the two cheeks, and the maw. BSB BSB: This shall be the priests’ share from the people who offer a sacrifice, whether a bull or a sheep: the priests are to be given the shoulder, the jowls, and the stomach.
WBS The first-fruit also of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thy oil, and the first of the fleece of thy sheep, shalt thou give him. BSB BSB: You are to give them the firstfruits of your grain, new wine, and oil, and the first wool sheared from your flock.
WBS For the LORD thy God hath chosen him out of all thy tribes, to stand to minister in the name of the LORD, him and his sons for ever. BSB BSB: For the LORD your God has chosen Levi and his sons out of all your tribes to stand and minister in His name for all time.
WBS And if a Levite shall come from any of thy gates out of all Israel, where he sojourned, and come with all the desire of his mind to the place which the LORD shall choose; BSB BSB: Now if a Levite moves from any town of residence throughout Israel and comes in all earnestness to the place the LORD will choose,
WBS Then he shall minister in the name of the LORD his God, as all his brethren the Levites do , who stand there before the LORD. BSB BSB: then he shall serve in the name of the LORD his God like all his fellow Levites who stand there before the LORD.
WBS They shall have like portions to eat, beside that which cometh of the sale of his patrimony. BSB BSB: They shall eat equal portions, even though he has received money from the sale of his father’s estate.
