WBS And when he had come out of the boat, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, BSB BSB: As soon as Jesus got out of the boat, He was met by a man with an unclean spirit, who was coming from the tombs.
WBS Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: BSB BSB: This man had been living in the tombs and could no longer be restrained, even with chains.
WBS For he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him. BSB BSB: Though he was often bound with chains and shackles, he had broken the chains and shattered the shackles. Now there was no one with the strength to subdue him.
WBS And always, night and day, he was on the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. BSB BSB: Night and day in the tombs and in the mountains he kept crying out and cutting himself with stones.
WBS But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshiped him, BSB BSB: When the man saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees before Him.
WBS And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the Most High God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. BSB BSB: And he shouted in a loud voice, “What do You want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You before God not to torture me!”
WBS (For he said to him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.) BSB BSB: For Jesus had already declared, “Come out of this man, you unclean spirit!”
WBS And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many. BSB BSB: “What is your name?” Jesus asked. “My name is Legion,” he replied, “for we are many.”
WBS And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country. BSB BSB: And he begged Jesus repeatedly not to send them out of that region.
WBS Now there was there nigh to the mountains a great herd of swine feeding. BSB BSB: There on the nearby hillside a large herd of pigs was feeding.
WBS And all the demons besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. BSB BSB: So the demons begged Jesus, “Send us to the pigs, so that we may enter them.”
WBS And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea (they were about two thousand) and were choked in the sea. BSB BSB: He gave them permission, and the unclean spirits came out and went into the pigs, and the herd of about two thousand rushed down the steep bank into the sea and drowned in the water.
WBS And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done. BSB BSB: Those tending the pigs ran off and reported this in the town and countryside, and the people went out to see what had happened.
WBS And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the demon, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. BSB BSB: When they came to Jesus, they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons sitting there, clothed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.
WBS And they that saw it told them how it befell him that was possessed with the demon, and also concerning the swine. BSB BSB: Those who had seen it described what had happened to the demon-possessed man and also to the pigs.
WBS And they began to pray him to depart out of their borders. BSB BSB: And the people began to beg Jesus to leave their region.
WBS And when he had come into the boat, he that had been possessed with the demon prayed him that he might be with him. BSB BSB: As He was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed by the demons begged to go with Him.
WBS Yet Jesus suffered him not, but saith to him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee. BSB BSB: But Jesus would not allow him. “Go home to your own people,” He said, “and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and what mercy He has shown you.”
WBS And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him. And all men wondered. BSB BSB: So the man went away and began to proclaim throughout the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him. And everyone was amazed.
The Healing Touch of Jesus (Matthew 9:18–26; Luke 8:40–56)

BSB BSB: and pleaded with Him urgently, “My little daughter is near death. Please come and place Your hands on her, so that she will be healed and live.”
WBS And Jesus went with him; and many people followed him, and thronged him. BSB BSB: So Jesus went with him, and a large crowd followed and pressed around Him.
WBS And a certain woman who had an issue of blood twelve years, BSB BSB: And a woman was there who had suffered from bleeding for twelve years.
WBS And had suffered many things from many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was not relieved, but rather grew worse, BSB BSB: She had borne much agony under the care of many physicians and had spent all she had, but to no avail. Instead, her condition had only grown worse.
WBS For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. BSB BSB: For she kept saying, “If only I touch His garments, I will be healed.”
WBS And immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that infirmity. BSB BSB: Immediately her bleeding stopped, and she sensed in her body that she was healed of her affliction.
WBS And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the throng, and said, Who touched my clothes? BSB BSB: At once Jesus was aware that power had gone out from Him. Turning to the crowd, He asked, “Who touched My garments?”
WBS And his disciples said to him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? BSB BSB: His disciples answered, “You can see the crowd pressing in on You, and yet You ask, ‘Who touched Me?’”
WBS And he looked around, to see her that had done this thing. BSB BSB: But He kept looking around to see who had done this.
WBS But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. BSB BSB: Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him trembling in fear, and she told Him the whole truth.

WBS While he was yet speaking, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain who said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further? BSB BSB: While He was still speaking, messengers from the house of Jairus arrived and said, “Your daughter is dead; why bother the Teacher anymore?”
WBS As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith to the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe, BSB BSB: But Jesus overheard their conversation and said to Jairus, “Do not be afraid; just believe.”
WBS And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James. BSB BSB: And He did not allow anyone to accompany Him except Peter, James, and John the brother of James.
WBS And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly. BSB BSB: When they arrived at the house of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw the commotion and the people weeping and wailing loudly.
WBS And when he had come in, he saith to them, Why make ye this tumult, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth. BSB BSB: He went inside and asked, “Why all this commotion and weeping? The child is not dead, but asleep.”
WBS And they derided him: but when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying. BSB BSB: And they laughed at Him. After He had put them all outside, He took the child’s father and mother and His own companions, and went in to see the child.
WBS And forthwith the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment. BSB BSB: Immediately the girl got up and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). And at once they were utterly astounded.
WBS And he charged them strictly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat. BSB BSB: Then Jesus gave strict orders that no one should know about this, and He told them to give her something to eat.
