The Order of the Camps 1 WBS And the LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying, BSB BSB: Then the LORD said to Moses and Aaron:
2 WBS Every man of the children of Israel shall pitch by his own standard, with the ensign of their father's house: far off about the tabernacle of the congregation shall they pitch. BSB BSB: “The Israelites are to camp around the Tent of Meeting at a distance from it, each man under his standard, with the banners of his family.
3 WBS And on the east side towards the rising of the sun shall they of the standard of the camp of Judah pitch throughout their armies: and Nahshon the son of Amminadab shall be captain of the children of Judah. BSB BSB: On the east side, toward the sunrise, the divisions of Judah are to camp under their standard: The leader of the Judahites is Nahshon son of Amminadab,
4 WBS And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were seventy and four thousand and six hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 74,600.
5 WBS And those that shall pitch next to him, shall be the tribe of Issachar: and Nethaneel the son of Zuar shall be captain of the children of Issachar. BSB BSB: The tribe of Issachar will camp next to it. The leader of the Issacharites is Nethanel son of Zuar,
6 WBS And his host, and those that were numbered of it, were fifty and four thousand and four hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 54,400.
7 WBS Then the tribe of Zebulun: and Eliab the son of Helon shall be captain of the children of Zebulun.BSB BSB: Next will be the tribe of Zebulun. The leader of the Zebulunites is Eliab son of Helon,
8 WBS And his host, and those that were numbered of it, were fifty and seven thousand and four hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 57,400.
9 WBS All that were numbered in the camp of Judah were a hundred thousand and eighty thousand and six thousand and four hundred throughout their armies: these shall first move forward. BSB BSB: The total number of men in the divisions of the camp of Judah is 186,400; they shall set out first.
10 WBS On the south side shall be the standard of the camp of Reuben according to their armies: and the captain of the children of Reuben shall be Elizur the son of Shedeur. BSB BSB: On the south side, the divisions of Reuben are to camp under their standard: The leader of the Reubenites is Elizur son of Shedeur,
11 WBS And his host, and those that were numbered of it were forty and six thousand and five hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 46,500.
12 WBS And those who pitch by him shall be the tribe of Simeon: and the captain of the children of Simeon shall be Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai. BSB BSB: The tribe of Simeon will camp next to it. The leader of the Simeonites is Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai,
13 WBS And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were fifty and nine thousand and three hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 59,300.
14 WBS Then the tribe of Gad: and the captain of the sons of Gad shall be Eliasaph the son of Reuel. BSB BSB: Next will be the tribe of Gad. The leader of the Gadites is Eliasaph son of Deuel,
15 WBS And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were forty and five thousand and six hundred and fifty. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 45,650.
16 WBS All that were numbered in the camp of Reuben were a hundred thousand and fifty and one thousand and four hundred and fifty, throughout their armies: and they shall move forward in the second rank. BSB BSB: The total number of men in the divisions of the camp of Reuben is 151,450; they shall set out second.
17 WBS Then the tabernacle of the congregation shall move forward with the camp of the Levites, in the midst of the camp: as they encamp, so shall they move forward, every man in his place by their standards. BSB BSB: In the middle of the camps, the Tent of Meeting is to travel with the camp of the Levites. They are to set out in the order they encamped, each in his own place under his standard.
18 WBS On the west side shall be the standard of the camp of Ephraim, according to their armies: and the captain of the sons of Ephraim shall be Elishama the son of Ammihud. BSB BSB: On the west side, the divisions of Ephraim are to camp under their standard: The leader of the Ephraimites is Elishama son of Ammihud,
19 WBS And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were forty thousand and five hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 40,500.
20 WBS And by him shall be the tribe of Manasseh: and the captain of the children of Manasseh shall be Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur. BSB BSB: The tribe of Manasseh will be next to it. The leader of the Manassites is Gamaliel son of Pedahzur,
21 WBS And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were thirty and two thousand and two hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 32,200.
22 WBS Then the tribe of Benjamin: and the captain of the sons of Benjamin shall be Abidan the son of Gideoni. BSB BSB: Next will be the tribe of Benjamin. The leader of the Benjamites is Abidan son of Gideoni,
23 WBS And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were thirty and five thousand and four hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 35,400.
24 WBS All that were numbered of the camp of Ephraim, were a hundred thousand and eight thousand and a hundred, throughout their armies: and they shall go forward in the third rank. BSB BSB: The total number of men in the divisions of the camp of Ephraim is 108,100; they shall set out third.
25 WBS The standard of the camp of Dan shall be on the north side by their armies: and the captain of the children of Dan shall be Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai. BSB BSB: On the north side, the divisions of Dan are to camp under their standard: The leader of the Danites is Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai,
26 WBS And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were sixty and two thousand and seven hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 62,700.
27 WBS And those that encamp by him shall be the tribe of Asher: and the captain of the children of Asher shall be Pagiel the son of Ocran. BSB BSB: The tribe of Asher will camp next to it. The leader of the Asherites is Pagiel son of Ocran,
28 WBS And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were forty and one thousand and five hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 41,500.
29 WBS Then the tribe of Naphtali: and the captain of the children of Naphtali shall be Ahira the son of Enan. BSB BSB: Next will be the tribe of Naphtali. The leader of the Naphtalites is Ahira son of Enan,
30 WBS And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were fifty and three thousand and four hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 53,400.
31 WBS All they that were numbered in the camp of Dan were a hundred thousand and fifty and seven thousand and six hundred: they shall go hindmost with their standards. BSB BSB: The total number of men in the camp of Dan is 157,600; they shall set out last, under their standards.”
32 WBS These are those who were numbered of the children of Israel by the house of their fathers. All those that were numbered of the camps throughout their hosts, were six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty. BSB BSB: These are the Israelites, numbered according to their families. The total of those counted in the camps, by their divisions, was 603,550.
33 WBS But the Levites were not numbered among the children of Israel; as the LORD commanded Moses. BSB BSB: But the Levites were not counted among the other Israelites, as the LORD had commanded Moses.
34 WBS And the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses: so they pitched by their standards, and so they moved forward, every one after their families, according to the house of their fathers. BSB BSB: So the Israelites did everything the LORD commanded Moses; they camped under their standards in this way and set out in the same way, each man with his clan and his family.
