The River of Life 1 WBS And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. BSB BSB: Then the angel showed me a river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb
2 WBS In the midst of the street of it, and on each side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bore twelve kinds of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. BSB BSB: down the middle of the main street of the city. On either side of the river stood a tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit and yielding a fresh crop for each month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.
3 WBS And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: BSB BSB: No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be within the city, and His servants will worship Him.
4 WBS And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. BSB BSB: They will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads.
5 WBS And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever. BSB BSB: There will be no more night in the city, and they will have no need for the light of a lamp or of the sun. For the Lord God will shine on them, and they will reign forever and ever.
Jesus Is Coming 6 WBS And he said to me, These sayings are faithful and true. And the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to show to his servants the things which must shortly be done. BSB BSB: Then the angel said to me, “These words are faithful and true. The Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, has sent His angel to show His servants what must soon take place.”
7 WBS Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book. BSB BSB: “Behold, I am coming soon. Blessed is the one who keeps the words of prophecy in this book.”
8 WBS And I John saw these things, and heard them . And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things. BSB BSB: And I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I had heard and seen them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had shown me these things.
9 WBS Then saith he to me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellow-servant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them who keep the sayings of this book: worship God. BSB BSB: But he said to me, “Do not do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers the prophets, and with those who keep the words of this book. Worship God!”
10 WBS And he saith to me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. BSB BSB: Then he told me, “Do not seal up the words of prophecy in this book, because the time is near.
11 WBS He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he who is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. BSB BSB: Let the unrighteous continue to be unrighteous, and the vile continue to be vile; let the righteous continue to practice righteousness, and the holy continue to be holy.”
12 WBS And behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give to every man according as his work shall be. BSB BSB: “Behold, I am coming soon, and My reward is with Me, to give to each one according to what he has done.
13 WBS I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. BSB BSB: I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”
14 WBS Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. BSB BSB: Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and may enter the city by its gates.
15 WBS For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and lewd men, and murderers, and idolaters, and whoever loveth and maketh a lie. BSB BSB: But outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.
16 WBS I Jesus have sent my angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning-star. BSB BSB: “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the bright Morning Star.”
17 WBS And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth, say, Come. And let him that is thirsty, come: And whoever will, let him take the water of life freely. BSB BSB: The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” Let the one who hears say, “Come!” And let the one who is thirsty come, and the one who desires the water of life drink freely.
Nothing May Be Added or Removed 18 WBS For I testify to every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, if any man shall add to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book: BSB BSB: I testify to everyone who hears the words of prophecy in this book: If anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book.
19 WBS And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. BSB BSB: And if anyone takes away from the words of this book of prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and the holy city, which are described in this book.
20 WBS He who testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly: Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. BSB BSB: He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!
21 WBS The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. BSB BSB: The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all the saints. Amen.
