The Vision of the Lampstand and Olive Trees 1 WBS And the angel that talked with me came again, and waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep, BSB BSB: Then the angel who was speaking with me returned and woke me, as a man is awakened from his sleep.
WBS And said to me, What seest thou? And I said, I have looked, and behold a candlestick: all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and its seven lamps, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which were upon the top of it. BSB BSB: “What do you see?” he asked. “I see a solid gold lampstand,” I replied, “with a bowl at the top and seven lamps on it, with seven spouts to the lamps.
WBS And two olive-trees by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and the other upon the left side . BSB BSB: There are also two olive trees beside it, one on the right side of the bowl and the other on its left.”
WBS So I answered and spoke to the angel that talked with me, saying, What are these, my lord? BSB BSB: “What are these, my lord?” I asked the angel who was speaking with me.
WBS Then the angel that talked with me answered and said to me, Knowest thou not what these are? and I said, No, my lord. BSB BSB: “Do you not know what they are?” replied the angel. “No, my lord,” I answered.
WBS Then he answered and spoke to me, saying, This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts. BSB BSB: So he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the LORD of Hosts.
WBS Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth its head-stone with shoutings, crying , Grace, grace, to it. BSB BSB: What are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become a plain. Then he will bring forth the capstone accompanied by shouts of ‘Grace, grace to it!’”
WBS Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying, BSB BSB: Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
WBS The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me to you. BSB BSB: “The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house, and his hands will complete it. Then you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent me to you.
WBS For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth. BSB BSB: For who has despised the day of small things? But these seven eyes of the LORD, which scan the whole earth, will rejoice when they see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel.”
WBS Then I answered, and said to him, What are these two olive-trees upon the right side of the candlestick and upon its left side ? BSB BSB: Then I asked the angel, “What are the two olive trees on the right and left of the lampstand?”
WBS And I answered again, and said to him, What are these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves? BSB BSB: And I questioned him further, “What are the two olive branches beside the two gold pipes from which the golden oil pours?”
WBS And he answered me and said, Knowest thou not what these are ? And I said, No, my lord. BSB BSB: “Do you not know what these are?” he inquired. “No, my lord,” I replied.
WBS Then said he, These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the LORD of the whole earth. BSB BSB: So he said, “These are the two anointed ones who are standing beside the Lord of all the earth.”
