1. 1ULBአካዝ በይሁዳ በነገሠ በዐሥራ ሁለተኛው ዓመት የኤላ ልጅ ሆሴዕ በእስራኤል ንጉሥ ሆነ፡፡ እርሱም በሰማርያ ዘጠኝ ዓመት እስራኤልን ገዛ፡፡BSBBSB: In the twelfth year of the reign of Ahaz over Judah, Hoshea son of Elah became king of Israel, and he reigned in Samaria nine years.
2. 2ULBእርሱም በእግዚአብሔር ፊት ክፉ ነገር አደረገ፡፡ ሆኖም እርሱ ያደረገው ኃጢአት ከእርሱ በፊት የነበሩ የእስራኤል ነገሥታት የፈጸሙት አልነበረም፡፡BSBBSB: And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, but not like the kings of Israel who preceded him.
3. 3ULBየአሦር ንጉሥ ስልምናሶር ጦርነት በገጠመው ጊዜ ተሸንፎ ሆሴዕ እጁን በመስጠት በየዓመቱ ይገብርለት ጀመር፡፡BSBBSB: Shalmaneser king of Assyria attacked him, and Hoshea became his vassal and paid him tribute.
4. 4ULBነገር ግን ከጥቂት ዓመቶች በኋላ ንጉሥ ሆሴዕ ሴጎር ተብሎ ወደሚጠራው ወደ ግብጽ ንጉሥ መልእክተኞች በመላክ ይረዳው ዘንድ ጠየቀው፤ በየዓመቱ ለአሦር ንጉሥ ይሰጠው የነበረውንም ግብር አቆመ፡፡ ስልምናሶር ይህን በሰማ ጊዜ ሆሴዕን አስይዞ ወህኒ ቤት አስገባው፡፡BSBBSB: But the king of Assyria discovered that Hoshea had conspired to send envoys to King So of Egypt, and that he had not paid tribute to the king of Assyria as in previous years. Therefore the king of Assyria arrested Hoshea and put him in prison.
5. 5ULBከዚህ በኋላ ስልምናሶር አገሪቱን ወርሮ ሰማርያን ለሦስት ዓመት ከበባት፡፡BSBBSB: Then the king of Assyria invaded the whole land, marched up to Samaria, and besieged it for three years.
6. 6ULBከዚያም ሆሴዕ በነገሠ በዘጠነኛው ዓመት ስልምናሶር ድል አድርጎ ሰማርያን ያዘ፤ እስራኤላውያንንም ማርኮ ወደ አሦር ወሰዳቸው፤ ከእነርሱም ጥቂቶቹን በአላሔ ከተማ፣ ጥቂቶቹን በጎዛን አውራጃ ውስጥ በሚገኘው በአቦር ወንዝ አጠገብ፣ እንዲሁም ሌሎቹን በሜዶን ከተሞች እንዲሰፍሩ አደረገ፡፡BSBBSB: In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria captured Samaria and carried away the Israelites to Assyria, where he settled them in Halah, in Gozan by the Habor River, and in the cities of the Medes.
7. 7ULBይህም ምርኮ የሆነው እስራኤላውያን በሠሩት ኃጢአት ከግብጽ ንጉሥ ከፈርዖን እጅ በመታደግ አውጥቶ ወደ ተስፋይቱ ምድር የመራቸውን አምላካቸውን እግዚአብሔርን ኃጢአት በመሥራት በማሳዘናቸው ነበር፡፡ ሕዝቡም ባዕዳን አማልክትን አመለኩ፡፡BSBBSB: All this happened because the people of Israel had sinned against the LORD their God, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. They had worshiped other gods
8. 8ULBሕዝቡም ከፊታቸው ያጠፋላቸውን የአሕዛብን መጥፎ ልማድ ተከተሉ፤ እንዲሁም የእስራኤል ነገሥታት ያሠራጩትን መጥፎ ልማድ ተቀባዮች ሆኑ፡፡BSBBSB: and walked in the customs of the nations that the LORD had driven out before the Israelites, as well as in the practices introduced by the kings of Israel.
9. 9ULBእስራኤላውያንም አምላካቸው እግዚአብሔር የሚጠላውን ነገር ሁሉ አደረጉ፡፡ ከዘብ ጠባቂዎች ማማ አንሥቶ እስከ ትልቅ ከተማ ድረስ በገጠር ከተሞቻቸው ሁሉ በየኮረብታዎቹ የአሕዛብ ማምለኪያ ስፍራዎችን ሠሩ፡፡BSBBSB: The Israelites secretly did things against the LORD their God that were not right. From watchtower to fortified city, they built high places in all their cities.
10. 10ULBበኮረብቶች ሁሉ ላይና በየዛፉ ጥላ ሥር የድንጋይ አምዶችንና አሼራ ተብላ የምትጠራውን ሴት አምላክ ምስሎች አቆሙ፡፡BSBBSB: They set up for themselves sacred pillars and Asherah poles on every high hill and under every green tree.
11. 11ULBእግዚአብሔርም ከፊታቸው ያስወጣቸውን የአረማውያን ሕዝብ ልማድ በመከተል በአሕዛብ መሠዊያዎች ሁሉ ላይ ዕጣን አጠኑ፤ በዚህም ክፉ ሥራቸው ሁሉ የእግዚአብሔርን ቁጣ አነሣሡ፤BSBBSB: They burned incense on all the high places like the nations that the LORD had driven out before them. They did wicked things, provoking the LORD to anger.
12. 12ULBእግዚአብሔርም እንዳያደርጉ የተናገራቸውን ጣዖታትን አመለኩ፡፡BSBBSB: They served idols, although the LORD had told them, “You shall not do this thing.”
13. 13ULBእግዚአብሔርም እስራኤልንና ይሁዳን የሚያስጠነቅቁ መልእክተኞችንና ነቢያትን በመላክ፣ ከክፉ መንገዳችሁ ሁሉ ተመለሱ፤ አገልጋዮቼ በሆኑት ነቢያትና ባለ ራዕዮች አማካይነት ለቀድሞ አባቶቻችሁና ለእናንተም በሰጠሁት ሕጎችና ትእዛዞች የተጻፈውን ሥርዓቱን ጠብቁ ብሎ ነግሮአቸው ነበር፡፡BSBBSB: Yet through all His prophets and seers, the LORD warned Israel and Judah, saying, “Turn from your wicked ways and keep My commandments and statutes, according to the entire Law that I commanded your fathers and delivered to you through My servants the prophets.”
14. 14ULBእነርሱ ግን መታዘዝ አልፈለጉም፤ በአምላካቸው በእግዚአብሔር እንዳልታመኑ እንደ ቀድሞ አባቶቻቸው እልከኞች ሆኑ፡፡BSBBSB: But they would not listen, and they stiffened their necks like their fathers, who did not believe the LORD their God.
15. 15ULBየሰጣቸውንም ድንጋጌ አልተቀበሉም፤ ከቀድሞ አባቶቻቸው ጋር የገባውንም ቃል ኪዳን አልጠበቁም፤ የሰጣቸውንም ማስጠንቀቂያዎች ሁሉ ቸል አሉ፤ ለከንቱ ጣዖቶች በመስገድ ራሳቸውም ከንቱዎች ሆኑ፤ የእነርሱን መጥፎ ምሰሌነት እንዳይወርሱ እግዚአብሔር የሰጣቸውን ትእዛዝ ባለመስማት በዙሪያቸው የሚኖሩትን የአሕዛብ ልማድ ሁሉ ተከተሉ፡፡BSBBSB: They rejected His statutes and the covenant He had made with their fathers, as well as the decrees He had given them. They pursued worthless idols and became worthless themselves, going after the surrounding nations that the LORD had commanded them not to imitate.
16. 16ULBየአምላካቸውን የእግዚአብሔርን ትእዛዞች ሁሉ ቸል አሉ፡፡ የሚሰግዱላቸውን ከብረት የተሠሩ ሁለት ጥጆችን አቆሙ፡፡ እንዲሁም አሼራ ተብላ የምትጠራውን ሴት አምላክ ምስል ሠሩ፣ ለከዋክብትም ሰገዱ፣ ባዓል ተብሎ ለሚጠራውም ባዕድ አምላክ አገልጋዮች ሆኑ፡፡BSBBSB: They abandoned all the commandments of the LORD their God and made for themselves two cast idols of calves and an Asherah pole. They bowed down to all the host of heaven and served Baal.
17. 17ULBለእነዚያም አሕዛብ አማልክት ወንዶችና ሴቶች ልጆቻቸውን የሚቃጠል መሥዋዕት አድርገው አቀረቡ፤ ከሙታን ጠሪዎችና ከጠንቋዮችም ምክር ጠየቁ፤ እግዚአብሔር ለሚጠላው ክፉ ነገር ሁሉ ራሳቸውን አሳልፈው በመስጠት የእግዚአብሔርን ቁጣ አነሣሡ፡፡BSBBSB: They sacrificed their sons and daughters in the fire and practiced divination and soothsaying. They devoted themselves to doing evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking Him to anger.
18. 18ULBስለዚሀም እግዚአብሔር በእስራኤል ላይ ተቆጥቶ የይሁዳን መንግሥት ብቻ በማስቀረት እስራኤላውያንን ከፊቱ አስወገደ፡፡BSBBSB: So the LORD was very angry with Israel, and He removed them from His presence. Only the tribe of Judah remained,
19. 19ULBየይሁዳ ሰዎችም ቢሆኑ አምላካቸው እግዚአብሔር የሰጣቸውን ትእዛዞች አልጠበቁም ነበር፡፡ እነርሱም የእስራኤል ሕዝብ የተቀበሉትን ልማድ ተከታዮች ነበሩ፡፡BSBBSB: and even Judah did not keep the commandments of the LORD their God, but lived according to the customs Israel had introduced.
20. 20ULBስለዚህም እግዚአብሔር እስራኤላውያንን ሁሉ ተዋቸው፤ ከፊቱም እስኪወገዱ ድረስ ለጠላቶቻቸው አሳልፎ በመስጠት ቀጣቸው፡፡BSBBSB: So the LORD rejected all the descendants of Israel. He afflicted them and delivered them into the hands of plunderers, until He had banished them from His presence.
21. 21ULBእግዚአብሔር እስራኤላውያንን ከይሁዳ ከለየ በኋላ እስራኤላውያን የናባጥ ልጅ ኢዮርብዓምን መርጠው አነገሡ፤ ኢዮርብዓምም እግዚአብሔርን እንዲተዉ በማድረግ አሠቃቂ ወደ ሆነ ኃጢአት መራቸው፡፡BSBBSB: When the LORD had torn Israel away from the house of David, they made Jeroboam son of Nebat king, and Jeroboam led Israel away from following the LORD and caused them to commit a great sin.
22. 22ULBበአገልጋዮቹ ነቢያት ሁሉ አማካይነት እግዚአብሔር እስራኤልን ከፊቱ እስኪያስወግድ ድረስ እስራኤላውያን የኢዮርብዓምን ኃጢአት ሲሠሩ ኖሩ እንጂ ከዚያ አልራቁም፡፡BSBBSB: The Israelites persisted in all the sins that Jeroboam had committed and did not turn away from them.
23. 23ULBስለዚህ እስራኤላውያን ከአገራቸው ተማርከው በመወሰድ እስከ ዛሬ ድስ በአሦር ይኖራሉ፡፡BSBBSB: Finally, the LORD removed Israel from His presence, as He had declared through all His servants the prophets. So Israel was exiled from their homeland into Assyria, where they are to this day.
24. 24ULBየአሦር ንጉሠ ነገሥት በባቢሎን ኩታ፣ ዓዋና፣ ሐማትና ሴፈርዋይ ተብለው በሚጠሩት ከተሞች ይኖሩ የነበሩትን አሕዛብ አምጥቶ ተሰደው በሄዱት በእስራኤላውያን እግር በመተካት በሰማርያ ከተሞች እንዲሰፍሩ አደረገ፤ እነርሱም እነዚህን ከተሞች ወርሰው በዚያ መኖር ጀመሩ፡፡BSBBSB: Then the king of Assyria brought people from Babylon, Cuthah, Avva, Hamath, and Sepharvaim and settled them in the towns of Samaria to replace the Israelites. They took possession of Samaria and lived in its towns.
25. 25ULBእነርሱም በዚያ ሰፍረው መኖር እንደ ጀመሩ እግዚአብሔርን አላመለኩትም ነበር፡፡ ስለዚህም እግዚአብሔር አንበሶችን በመላክ ከእነርሱ ጥቂቶቹን ሰባብረው እንዲገድሉ አደረገ፡፡BSBBSB: Now when the settlers first lived there, they did not worship the LORD, so He sent lions among them, which killed some of them.
26. 26ULBለአሦርም ንጉሠ ነገሥት በሰማርያ ከተሞች ሰፍረው እንዲኖሩ ያደረግሃቸው ሕዝቦች የዚያችን አገር አምላክ ሕግ የሚያውቁ ሆነው አልተገኙም፤ ከዚህም የተነሣ እግዚአብሔር ሰባብረው የሚገድሉ አንበሶችን ላከባቸው የሚል ወሬ ደረሰው፡፡BSBBSB: So they spoke to the king of Assyria, saying, “The peoples that you have removed and placed in the cities of Samaria do not know the requirements of the God of the land. Because of this, He has sent lions among them, which are indeed killing them off.”
27. 27ULBስለዚህ ንጉሠ ነገሥቱ ማርኮ ካመጣቸው ካህናት አንዱን ወደዚያ ላኩ፤ ወደዚያ ተመልሶ በመሄድ የዚያች አገር አምላክ ያዘዘውን ሕግ ለሕዝቡ እንዲያስተምራቸው አድርጉ ሲል አዘዘ፡፡BSBBSB: Then the king of Assyria commanded: “Send back one of the priests you carried off from Samaria, and have him go back to live there and teach the requirements of the God of the land.”
28. 28ULBስለዚህም ከሰማርያ ተማርኮ የተወሰደ አንድ እስራኤላዊ ካህን ተመልሶ በመሄድ በቤተል ተቀመጠ፤ በዚያ ሕዝቡ እግዚአብሔርን እንዴት ማምለክ እንደሚገባቸው አስተማራቸው፡፡BSBBSB: Thus one of the priests they had carried away came and lived in Bethel, and he began to teach them how they should worship the LORD.
29. 29ULBበሰማርያ የሰፈሩት ሕዝቦች ግን የየራሳቸውን ጣዖት መሥራት ቀጥለው እስራኤላውያን ባሠሩአቸው በከፍተኛ ማምለኪያ ቦታዎች አኖሩአቸው፤ እያንዳንዱ ቡድን በሚኖርበት ከተማ ሁሉ የየራሱን ጣዖት አቆመ፡፡BSBBSB: Nevertheless, the people of each nation continued to make their own gods in the cities where they had settled, and they set them up in the shrines that the people of Samaria had made on the high places.
30. 30ULBበዚህም ዓይነት የባቢሎን ሰዎች ሱኮትበኖት በተባለው አምላክ ስም ጣዖት ሠሩ፤ እንዲሁም የኩታ ሰዎች ኤርጌል ተብሎ በሚጠራው ባዕድ አምላክ ስም ጣዖት ሠሩ፤ የሐማት ሕዝብ አሲማት ተብሎ በሚጠራው ባዕድ አምላክ ስም ጣዖት ሠሩ፤BSBBSB: The men of Babylon made Succoth-benoth, the men of Cuth made Nergal, the men of Hamath made Ashima,
31. 31ULBየዓዋ ሕዝብ ኤልባዝርና ተርታቅ ተብለው በሚጠሩ አማልክቶቻቸው ስም ጣዖቶቻቸውን ሠሩ፤ የሴፈርዋይምም ሕዝብ አድራሜሌክና ዓናሜሌክ ተብለው ለሚጠሩ አማልክቶቻቸው ልጆቻቸውን የሚቃጠል መሥዋዕት አድርገው አቀረቡ፡፡BSBBSB: the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak, and the Sepharvites burned their children in the fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech the gods of Sepharvaim.
32. 32ULBእነዚሁ ሰዎች በተጨማሪ ለእውነተኛው አምላክ ለእግዚአብሔር ይሰግዱ ነበር፡፡ ከእያንዳዳቸውም ቡድን በአረማውያን የማምለኪያ ስፍራዎች የሚያገለግሉና መሥዋዕት የሚያቀርቡላቸውን ካህናት መረጡ፡፡BSBBSB: So the new residents worshiped the LORD, but they also appointed for themselves priests of all sorts to serve in the shrines of the high places.
33. 33ULBበዚህ ዓይነት እግዚአብሔርን ማክበርና ማምለክ ጀመሩ፡፡ በሌላ በኩል ግን ቀድሞ ይኖሩባቸው በነበሩት ሕዝቦች ይፈጽሙት በነበረው ልማድ መሠረት ለባዕዳን አማልክት ይሰግዱ ነበር፡፡BSBBSB: They worshiped the LORD, but they also served their own gods according to the customs of the nations from which they had been carried away.
34. 34ULBይህንኑ አሮጌ ልማዳቸውን እስከ አሁን ድረስ በመፈጸም ላይ ናቸው፡፡ እነርሱም እግዚአብሔርን አያመልኩም ወይም ስሙ እስራኤል ተብሎ ለተጠራው ለያዕቆብ ልጆች እግዚአብሔር በሰጣቸው ደንቦች፣ ሥርዓቶች፣ ሕጎችና ትእዛዞች ጸንተው አልኖሩም፡፡BSBBSB: To this day they are still practicing their former customs. None of them worship the LORD or observe the statutes, ordinances, laws, and commandments that the LORD gave the descendants of Jacob, whom He named Israel.
35. 35ULBእግዚአብሔርም ከእነርሱ ጋር ቃል ኪዳን በመግባት እስራኤላውያንን እንዲህ ሲል አዞአቸው ነበር፡- ባዕዳን አማልክትን አታምልኩ፣ ለእነርሱም አገልጋዮች በመሆን አትስገዱላቸው፣ መሥዋዕትንም አታቅርቡላቸው፡፡BSBBSB: For the LORD had made a covenant with the Israelites and commanded them, “Do not worship other gods or bow down to them; do not serve them or sacrifice to them.
36. 36ULBበታላቅ ኃይልና በሥልጣን ከግብጽ ምድር ላወጣኋችሁ ለእኔ ለእግዚአብሔር ታዛዦች ሁኑ፤ መስገድና መሥዋዕት ማቅረብ የሚገባችሁ ለእኔ ብቻ ነው፡፡BSBBSB: Instead, worship the LORD, who brought you out of the land of Egypt with great power and an outstretched arm. You are to bow down to Him and offer sacrifices to Him.
37. 37ULBጽፌ የሰጠኋችሁንም ድንጋጌና ሥርዓቱን ሕጎችና ትእዛዞቹን ሁልጊዜ ጠብቁ፣ ባዕዳን አማልክትንም አትከተሉ፡፡BSBBSB: And you must always be careful to observe the statutes, ordinances, laws, and commandments He wrote for you. Do not worship other gods.
38. 38ULBእኔ ከእናንተ ጋር የገባሁትንም ቃል ኪዳን አትርሱ፤ ባዕዳን አማልክትንም አታምልኩ፡፡BSBBSB: Do not forget the covenant I have made with you. Do not worship other gods,
39. 39ULBእኔን አምላካችሁን እግዚአብሔርን ፍሩ፤ እኔም ከኃይለኛው ጠላቶቻችሁ እጅ አድናችኋለሁ፡፡BSBBSB: but worship the LORD your God, and He will deliver you from the hands of all your enemies.”
40. 40ULBነገር ግን እነዚያ ሕዝቦች ይህን መስማት ትተው አሮጌ ልማዳቸውን ተከተሉ፡፡BSBBSB: But they would not listen, and they persisted in their former customs.
41. 41ULBእነዚያ ሕዝቦች በዚሁ ዓይነት እግዚአብሔርን ማምለክ ጀመሩ፤ በሌላ በኩል ግን ለጣዖቶቻቸው ይሰግዱ ነበር፤ ዘሮቻቸውም እስከ ዛሬ ድረስ ይህንኑ ዓይነት አምልኮ እንደ ቀጠሉ ናቸው፡፡BSBBSB: So these nations worshiped the LORD but also served their idols, and to this day their children and grandchildren continue to do as their fathers did.
