1. 1ULBየኤላ ልጅ ሆሴዕ በእስራኤል በነገሠ በሦስተኛው ዓመት የአካዝ ልጅ ሕዝቅያስ የይሁዳ ንጉሥ ሆነ፡፡BSBBSB: In the third year of the reign of Hoshea son of Elah over Israel, Hezekiah son of Ahaz became king of Judah.
2. 2ULBሕዝቅያስም ሲነግሥ ዕድሜው ሃያ አምስት ዓመት ነበር፡፡ እርሱም በኢያሩሳሌም ሃያ ዘጠኝ ዓመት ገዛ፡፡ እናቱም አቢያ የምትባል የዘካርያስ ልጅ ነበረች፡፡BSBBSB: He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem twenty-nine years. His mother’s name was Abi, the daughter of Zechariah.
3. 3ULBሕዝቅያስም የአባቱን የንጉሥ ዳዊትን መልካም አርአያነት በመከተል እግዚአብሔርን ደስ የሚያሰኝ ሥራ ሠራ፡፡BSBBSB: And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, just as his father David had done.
4. 4ULBየአሕዛብን የማምለክያ ስፍራዎች አስወገደ፤ የድንጋይ ዐምዶችንም ሰባብሮ አጠፋ፤ ኣሼራ ተብላ በምትጠራው ሴት አምላክ ስም የተቀረጹትን ምስሎች ሁሉ አፈረሰ፡፡ ሙሴ ከነሐስ ሠርቶት የነበረውን ኔሑሽታን ተብሎ የሚጠራውን የእባብ ምስል ሰባብሮ አደቀቀ፤ ምክንያቱም እስከዚያን ጊዜ ድረስ እስራኤላውያን ለእርሱ ዕጣን ያጥኑለት ነበር፡፡BSBBSB: He removed the high places, shattered the sacred pillars, and cut down the Asherah poles. He also demolished the bronze snake called Nehushtan that Moses had made, for up to that time the Israelites had burned incense to it.
5. 5ULBሕዝቅያስ በእስራኤል አምላክ በእግዚአብሔር ተማመነ፤ ከእርሱ በፊትም ሆነ ከእርሱ ወዲህ እርሱን የመሰለ ሌላ ንጉሥ በይሁዳ አልተነሣም፡፡BSBBSB: Hezekiah trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel. No king of Judah was like him, either before him or after him.
6. 6ULBሕዝቅያስም ለእግዚአብሔር ታማኝ ስለ ሆነ ከእግዚአብሔር መንገድ የራቀበት ጊዜ የለም፤ ለሙሴ የሰጣቸውን ትእዛዞች ሁሉ በጥንቃቄ ይፈጽም ነበር፡፡BSBBSB: He remained faithful to the LORD and did not turn from following Him; he kept the commandments that the LORD had given Moses.
7. 7ULBስለዚህም እግዚአብሔር ከሕዝቅያስ ጋር ስለነበረ የሚሠራው ሁሉ ይከናወንለት ነበር፡፡ ሕዝቅያስም በአሦር ንጉሠ ነገሥት ላይ ዐምፆ ለእርሱ መገዛትን አሻፈረኝ አለ፡፡BSBBSB: And the LORD was with Hezekiah, and he prospered wherever he went. He rebelled against the king of Assyria and refused to serve him.
8. 8ULBፍልስጥኤማውያንንም ድል ነሥቶ ከትንሽ እስከ ታላቅ የተመሸጉ ከተማ ጋዛንና በዙሪያው የሚገኘውን ግዛት፣ የሚኖሩበትን ስፍራ ሁሉ አጠቃ፡፡BSBBSB: He defeated the Philistines as far as Gaza and its borders, from watchtower to fortified city.
9. 9ULBሕዝቅያስ በነገሠ በአራተኛው ዓመት ማለትም የኤላ ልጅ ሆሴዕ በእስራኤል በነገሠ በሰባተኛው ዓመት የአሦር ንጉሥ ስልምናሶር በእስራኤል ላይ አደጋ በመጣል ሰማርያን ከበበ፡፡BSBBSB: In the fourth year of Hezekiah’s reign, which was the seventh year of the reign of Hoshea son of Elah over Israel, Shalmaneser king of Assyria marched against Samaria and besieged it.
10. 10ULBበሦስተኛውም ዓመት መጨረሻ ሰማርያ በሙሉ ተያዘች፤ ይህም የሆነው ሕዝቅያስ በነገሠ በስድስተኛው ዓመት ሆሴዕም በነገሠ በዘጠነኛው ዓመት ነበር፡፡BSBBSB: And at the end of three years, the Assyrians captured it. So Samaria was captured in the sixth year of Hezekiah, which was the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel.
11. 11ULBየአሦር ንጉሠ ነገሥት እስራኤላውያንን ማርኮ ወደ አሦር በመውሰድ ከእነርሱ ጥቂቶቹን በአላሔ ከተማ፣ ጥቂቶቹን በጋዛ አውረጃ በሚገኘው በአቦር ወንዝ አጠገብ፣ ሌሎቹን ደግሞ በሜዶን ከተሞች እንዲሰፍሩ አደረገ፡፡BSBBSB: The king of Assyria exiled the Israelites to Assyria and settled them in Halah, in Gozan by the Habor River, and in the cities of the Medes.
12. 12ULBይህም የሆነበት ምክንያት እስራኤላውያን ለእግዚአብሔር ባለመታዘዛቸው ነበር፤ ይኸውም እግዚአብሔር ከእነርሱ ጋር የገባውን ቃል ኪዳን አፈረሱ፣ በእግዚአብሔር አገልጋይ በሙሴ አማካይነት ለተሰጠ ሕግ ሁሉ ታዛዦች ሆነው አልተገኙም፤ ለመስማትም ሆነ ሕጉን ለመጠበቅ አሻፈረን አሉ፡፡BSBBSB: This happened because they did not listen to the voice of the LORD their God, but violated His covenant—all that Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded—and would neither listen nor obey.
13. 13ULBከዚያም ሕዝቅያስ በነገሠ በዐሥራ አራተኛው ዓመት የአሦር ንጉሠ ነገሥት ሰናክሬም አደጋ በመጣል የተመሸጉትን የይሁዳ ከተሞች ያዘ፡፡BSBBSB: In the fourteenth year of Hezekiah’s reign, Sennacherib king of Assyria attacked and captured all the fortified cities of Judah.
14. 14ULBስለዚህም የይሁዳ ንጉሥ ሕዝቅያስ በለኪሶ ሰፍሮ ለነበረው ለሰናክሬም፣ እኔ በድያለሁ፤ እባክህን እኔን ተወኝ፤ የምትጠይቀኝን ሁሉ እልክልሃለሁ ሲል መልእክት ላከ፡፡ ንጉሠ ነገሥቱም ለይሁዳ ንጉሥ ሕዝቅያስ እኔ የምፈልገው ሦስት መቶ መክሊት ብርና ሠላሳ መክሊት ወርቅ እንድትልክልኝ ነው ሲል መለሰለት፡፡BSBBSB: So Hezekiah king of Judah sent word to the king of Assyria at Lachish, saying, “I have done wrong; withdraw from me, and I will pay whatever you demand from me.” And the king of Assyria exacted from Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.
15. 15ULBስለዚህም ሕዝቅያስ በእግዚአብሔር ቤተ መቅደስና በቤተ መንግሥተ ዕቃ ግምጃ ቤት የነበረውን ብር ሁሉ ሰብስቦ ላከለት፡፡BSBBSB: Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the house of the LORD and in the treasuries of the royal palace.
16. 16ULBእንዲሁም በእግዚዚብሔር ቤተ መቅደስ መግቢያ በሮች ላይ ተለብጦ የነበረውን ወርቅና እርሱም ራሱ በቤተ መቅደሱ የበር ዐምዶች ላይ ለብጦት የነበረውን ወርቅ ጭምር ወደ ሰናክሬም ላከ፡፡BSBBSB: At that time Hezekiah stripped the gold with which he had plated the doors and doorposts of the temple of the LORD, and he gave it to the king of Assyria.
17. 17ULBነገር ግን የአሦር ንጉሠ ነገሥት እንደገና የተጠናከረ ታላቅ ሠራዊት ከለኪሶ ተንቀሳቅሶ ወደ ኢየሩሳሌም በመዝመት በሕዝቅያስ ላይ አደጋ እንዲጥልበት አዘዘ፤ ሠራዊቱም ከፍተኛ ሥልጣን ባላቸው ሦስት የጦር አዛዦቹ የሚመራ ነበር፡፡ እነርሱም ወደ ኢየሩሳሌም እንደ ደረሱ ከላይኛው ኩሬ ውሃ በሚተላለፍበት ቦይ አጠገብ ወደ ልብስ አጣቢዎች መስክ የሚወስደውን መንገድ ያዙ፡፡BSBBSB: Nevertheless, the king of Assyria sent the Tartan, the Rabsaris, and the Rabshakeh, along with a great army, from Lachish to King Hezekiah at Jerusalem. They advanced up to Jerusalem and stationed themselves by the aqueduct of the upper pool, on the road to the Launderer’s Field.
18. 18ULBከዚያ ወደ ሕዝቅያስ መልእክት ላኩበት፤ ሕዝቅያስም አገልጋዮቹ የሆኑ ሦስት ባለሥልጣኖች ሄደው እንዲገናኙአቸው አዘዘ፡፡ እነርሱም የቤተ መንግሥቱ ኃላፊ የሆነው የኬልቂያስ ልጅ ኤልያቄም፣ የቤተ መንግሥት ጸሐፊ የሆነው ሳምናስና የቤተ መዛግብት ኃላፊ የሆነው የአሳፍ ልጅ ዮአስ ነበሩ።BSBBSB: Then they called for the king. And Eliakim son of Hilkiah the palace administrator, Shebnah the scribe, and Joah son of Asaph the recorder, went out to them.
19. 19ULBስለዚህም የአሦር ዋና የጦር አዛዥ እንዲህ አላቸው፡- ለሕዝቅያስ እንዲህ በሉት፣ ‘ታላቁ የአሦር ንጉሥ እንዲህ ይላል፡- እንደዚህ የተማመንክበት ነገር ምንድን ነው?BSBBSB: The Rabshakeh said to them, “Tell Hezekiah that this is what the great king, the king of Assyria, says: What is the basis of this confidence of yours?
20. 20ULBበጦርነት የሚረዳ ኃይል እንዳለህ የተናገርከው ከንቱ ቃላት ናቸው፤ በእኔ ላይ ለማመጽ የቻልከው በምን ተማምነህ ነው?BSBBSB: You claim to have a strategy and strength for war, but these are empty words. In whom are you now trusting, that you have rebelled against me?
21. 21ULBየግብጽ ንጉሥ ይረዳኛል ብለህ አስበህ ከሆነ የተቀጠቀጠ ሸምበቆ እንደሚመረኮዝ ሰው መሆንህ ነው፤ እርሱ ተሰብሮ ስንጣሪው እጅህን ያቆስልሃል፤ እንግዲህ የግብጽ ንጉሥ ፈርዖን ለሚተማመኑበት ሁሉ እንዲህ ነው’ ሲል ተናገረ፡፡BSBBSB: Look now, you are trusting in Egypt, that splintered reed of a staff that will pierce the hand of anyone who leans on it. Such is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust in him.
22. 22ULBየአሦር የጦር አዛዥ ንግግሩን በመቀጠል እንደገና እንዲህ አለ፡- አምላክህ እግዚአብሔር እንደሚረዳህ ታስብ እንደሆነ፣ ይህ እንዳይሆን አንተ የእግዚአብሔርን የተቀደሱ ስፍራዎችንና መሠዊያዎችን ደምስሰህ የይሁዳና የኢየሩሳሌም ሕዝብ ማምለክ የሚገባቸው ኢየሩሳሌም ውስጥ በሚገኘው በአንድ መሠዊያ ብቻ ነው ብለህ ወስነሃል፡፡BSBBSB: But if you say to me, ‘We trust in the LORD our God,’ is He not the One whose high places and altars Hezekiah has removed, saying to Judah and Jerusalem: ‘You must worship before this altar in Jerusalem’?
23. 23ULBአሁንም በንጉሠ ነገሥቱ ስም ለፍልሚያ እጠይቅሃለሁ፤ መጋለብ የሚችሉ በቂ ሰዎች ታገኝ አንደ ሆነ እስቲ ሁለት ሺህ ፈረሶች ልስጥህ፡፡BSBBSB: Now, therefore, make a bargain with my master, the king of Assyria. I will give you two thousand horses—if you can put riders on them!
24. 24ULBአንተ እጅግ በጣም ዝቅተኛ ከሆነው ከአሦር ተራ የጦር መኮንን ጋር እንኳ መወዳደር አትችልም፤ ግብጻውያን ሠረገሎችንና ፈረሶችን ይልኩልኛል ብለህ የምትጠባበቀውም በዚሁ ምክንያት ነው፡፡BSBBSB: For how can you repel a single officer among the least of my master’s servants when you depend on Egypt for chariots and horsemen?
25. 25ULBእኔ በአንተ አገር ላይ አደጋ የጣልኩባትና የደመሰስኳት ያለ እግዚአብሔር ፈቃድ ይመስልሃልን? እግዚአብሔር ራሱ በዚህች አገር ላይ አደጋ እንድጥልባትና እንድደመስሳት አዞኛል፡፡BSBBSB: So now, was it apart from the LORD that I have come up against this place to destroy it? The LORD Himself said to me, ‘Go up against this land and destroy it.’”
26. 26ULBኤልያቄም፣ ሳምናስና ዮአስ ይህን የጦር አዛዥ ትርጉሙን ስለምናውቅ በሶርያ ቋንቋ እንድትነግረን እንለምንሃለን፤ በቅጥር ላይ ያሉት ሕዝብ ሁሉ በሚሰሙት በዕብራይስጥ ቋንቋ አትናገረን አሉት፡፡BSBBSB: Then Eliakim son of Hilkiah, along with Shebnah and Joah, said to the Rabshakeh, “Please speak to your servants in Aramaic, since we understand it. Do not speak with us in Hebrew in the hearing of the people on the wall.”
27. 27ULBየጦር አዛዡም፣ የአሦር ንጉሠ ነገሥት ይህን ሁሉ ለእናንተና ለንጉሣቸሁ ብቻ እንድናገር የላከኝ መሰላችሁን? እንደ እናንተ ኩሳቸውን ለመብላትና ሽንታቸውን ለመጠጣት ለሚገደዱ ሰዎችም ጭምር ስለ ሆነ እኔ የምናገረውን በቅጥር ላይ ያሉት ሰዎች ሁሉ እንዲሰሙት እንድናገር አልላከኝምን? ሲል መለሰላቸው፡፡BSBBSB: But the Rabshakeh replied, “Has my master sent me to speak these words only to you and your master, and not to the men sitting on the wall, who are destined with you to eat their own dung and drink their own urine?”
28. 28ULBከዚያም የአሦር የጦር አዛዥ ከተቀመጠበት ተነሥቶ ቆመ፤ ድምፁንም ከፍ አድርጎ በዕብራይስጥ ቋንቋ እንዲህ እያለ ጮኸ፡- የአሦር ንጉሠ ነገሥት የሚነግራችሁን ስሙ፤BSBBSB: Then the Rabshakeh stood and called out loudly in Hebrew: “Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria!
29. 29ULBበሕዝቅያስ አትታለሉ፤ እርሱ ሊያድናችሁ ከቶ አይችልም፡፡BSBBSB: This is what the king says: Do not let Hezekiah deceive you; he cannot deliver you from my hand.
30. 30ULBሕዝቅያስ፣ በእግዚአብሔር ታመኑ፤ እርሱ ያድናችኋል፤ ከተማችንም በአሦርያውያን ሠራዊት እጅ እንዳትገባ ይከላከልልናል እያለ የሚሰብካችሁን አትስሙት፡፡BSBBSB: Do not let Hezekiah persuade you to trust in the LORD when he says, ‘The LORD will surely deliver us; this city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.’
31. 31ULBሕዝቅያስ የሚላችሁን አታዳምጡ፤ የአሦር ንጉሠ ነገሥት ከከተማችሁ ወጥታችሁ እጃችሁን እንድትሰጡ አዞአችኋል፤ ይህን ብታደርጉ ሁላችሁም እያንዳንዳችሁ የወይን ተክሎቻችሁን ዘለላና የበለስ ዛፎቻችሁን ፍሬ ትበላላችሁ፤ ከጉድጓዶቻችሁም ውሃ ትጠጣላችሁ፡፡BSBBSB: Do not listen to Hezekiah, for this is what the king of Assyria says: Make peace with me and come out to me. Then every one of you will eat from his own vine and his own fig tree and drink water from his own cistern,
32. 32ULBይህም ሁሉ የሚሆነው ንጉሠ ነገሥቱ የእናንተን አገር ወደምትመስል ምድር ወስዶ እስከሚያሰፍራችሁ ድረስ ነው፤ በዚያችም ምድር ወይን ጠጅ የሚገኝባቸው የወይን ተክል ቦታዎችና በቂ የእንጀራ እህል የሚመረትባቸው እርሻዎች አሉ፤ ምድሪቱም የወይራ ፍሬና የወይራ ዘይት እንዲሁም ማር የሞላባት ናት። ንጉሠ ነገሥቱ የሚያዛችሁን ብትፈጽሙ በሕይወት ትኖራላችሁ እንጂ አትሞቱም፡፡ ስለዚህ ሕዝቅያስ፣ “እግዚአብሔር ይታደጋችኋል” እያለ በመስበክ አያሙኛችሁ፡፡BSBBSB: until I come and take you away to a land like your own—a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of olive trees and honey—so that you may live and not die. But do not listen to Hezekiah, for he misleads you when he says, ‘The LORD will deliver us.’
33. 33ULBለመሆኑ ከሌሎች ሕዝቦች አማልክት አንዱ እንኳ ከአሦር ንጉሠ ነገሥት እጅ አገሩን ያዳነ ይገኛልን?BSBBSB: Has the god of any nation ever delivered his land from the hand of the king of Assyria?
34. 34ULBታዲያ ይህ ከሆነ የሐማትና የአርፋድ አማልክት የት አሉ? የሴፈርዋይ፣ የሄናና የዒዋ አማልክትስ የት ደረሱ? ከእነርሱ አንዱ እንኳ ሰማርያን ከእጄ ማዳን ችሎአልን?BSBBSB: Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivvah? Have they delivered Samaria from my hand?
35. 35ULBየእነዚህ ሁሉ አገሮች አማልክት ንጉሠ ነገሥቶቻቸውን ለማዳን የቻሉበት ጊዜ አለን? ታዲያ እንግዲህ እናንተ እግዚአብሔር ኢየሩሳሌምን ያድናታል ብላችሁ የምታስቡት እንዴት ነው?BSBBSB: Who among all the gods of these lands has delivered his land from my hand? How then can the LORD deliver Jerusalem from my hand?”
36. 36ULBሕዝቡም ቀደም ሲል ንጉሥ ሕዝቅያስ ባዘዛቸው መሠረት አንዲት ቃል ሳይናገሩ ዝም አሉ፡፡BSBBSB: But the people remained silent and did not answer a word, for Hezekiah had commanded, “Do not answer him.”
37. 37ULBከዚያም ኤልያቄም፣ ሳምናስና ዮአስ በሐዘን ልብሳቸውን ቀደዱ፤ ወደ ንጉሥ ሕዝቅያስ ቀርበው የአሦራውያን የጦር አዛዥ የተናገረውን አስረዱት፡፡BSBBSB: Then Hilkiah’s son Eliakim the palace administrator, Shebna the scribe, and Asaph’s son Joah the recorder came to Hezekiah with their clothes torn, and they relayed to him the words of the Rabshakeh.
