1. 1ULBአጵሎስ በቆሮንቶስ በነበረ ጊዜ፣ ጳውሎስ በላይኛው አገር አድርጎ ወደ ኤፌሶን ከተማ መጣ፤ በዚያም አንዳንድ ደቀ መዛሙርትን አገኘ።BSBBSB: While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul passed through the interior and came to Ephesus. There he found some disciples
2. 2ULBጳውሎስም፣ “ባመናችሁ ጊዜ መንፈስ ቅዱስን ተቀብላችኋል?” አላቸው። እነርሱም፣ “አልተቀበልንም፤ እንዲያውም መንፈስ ቅዱስ መኖሩን አልሰማንም” አሉት።BSBBSB: and asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you became believers?” “No,” they answered, “we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”
3. 3ULBጳውሎስም፣ “ታዲያ፣ በምን ተጠመቃችሁ?” አላቸው። እነርሱም፣ “የተጠመቅነው በዮሐንስ ጥምቀት ነው” አሉት።BSBBSB: “Into what, then, were you baptized?” Paul asked. “The baptism of John,” they replied.
4. 4ULBጳውሎስም መልሶ፣ “ዮሐንስ ያጠመቀው በንስሓ ጥምቀት ነው። ሰዎች ከእርሱ በኋላ በሚመጣው፣ በኢየሱስ ማመን እንደሚገባቸውም ነገራቸው” አለ።BSBBSB: Paul explained: “John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the One coming after him, that is, in Jesus.”
5. 5ULBሕዝቡ ይህን ሲሰሙ፣ በጌታ ኢየሱስ ስም ተጠመቁ።BSBBSB: On hearing this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus.
6. 6ULBጳውሎስም እጆቹን በሰዎቹ ላይ በጫነ ጊዜ፣ መንፈስ ቅዱስ ወረደባቸው፤ እነርሱም በልዩ ቋንቋ መናገርና መተንበይ ጀመሩ።BSBBSB: And when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.
7. 7ULBቍጥራቸውም ዐሥራ ሁለት ያህል ነበረ።BSBBSB: There were about twelve men in all.
8. 8ULBጳውሎስ ከዚህ በኋላ ወደ ምኵራብ እየገባ ሦስት ወር ያህል በድፍረት ይናገር ነበር፤ ስለ እግዚአብሔር መንግሥት እየገለጠ ሰዎችን ያስረዳ ነበር።BSBBSB: Then Paul went into the synagogue and spoke boldly there for three months, arguing persuasively about the kingdom of God.
9. 9ULBአንዳንድ አይሁድ ግን ልባቸውን አደንድነው በመቃወም፣ በሕዝቡ ፊት የክርስቶስን መንገድ ተሳደቡ፤ ስለዚህ ጳውሎስ ትቶአቸው ሄደ፤ ያመኑትንም ከእነርሱ አራቀ። ጢራኖስ በሚባል የትምህርት አዳራሽም በየዕለቱ ንግግር ያደርግ ጀመር።BSBBSB: But when some of them stubbornly refused to believe and publicly maligned the Way, Paul took his disciples and left the synagogue to conduct daily discussions in the lecture hall of Tyrannus.
10. 10ULBይህም፣ በእስያ የሚኖሩ አይሁድና ግሪኮችም ሁሉ የጌታን ቃል እስኪሰሙ ድረስ፣ ሁለት ዓመት ቀጠለ።BSBBSB: This continued for two years, so that everyone who lived in the province of Asia, Jews and Greeks alike, heard the word of the Lord.
11. 11ULBእግዚአብሔር በጳውሎስ እጅ ታላላቅ ተአምራትን ያደርግ ነበር፤BSBBSB: God did extraordinary miracles through the hands of Paul,
12. 12ULBስለዚህ የጳውሎስ አካል የነካው ጨርቅ ወይም መሐረብ ሲወሰድ፣ የታመሙት ይፈወሱ፣ አጋንንትም ከሰዎች ይወጡ ነበር።BSBBSB: so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and the diseases and evil spirits left them.
13. 13ULBአጋንንት እናስወጣለን እያሉ ከቦታ ቦታ የሚዞሩ አይሁድ ነበሩ፤ እነርሱም የኢየሱስን ስም ለገዛ ጥቅማቸው ለማዋል፣ በክፉ መናፍስት ላይ እየጠሩ፣ “እንድትወጡ ጳውሎስ በሚሰብከው በኢየሱስ እናዛችኋለን” ይሉ ነበር።BSBBSB: Now there were some itinerant Jewish exorcists who tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those with evil spirits. They would say, “I command you by Jesus, whom Paul proclaims.”
14. 14ULBይህን ያደረጉትም የአይሁድ የካህናት አለቃ የነበረው የአስቄዋ ሰባት ወንድ ልጆች ነበሩ።BSBBSB: Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this.
15. 15ULBክፉው መንፈስም፣ “ኢየሱስን ዐውቀዋለሁ፤ ጳውሎስንም ዐውቃለሁ፤ ለመሆኑ እናንተ እነማን ናችሁ?” ብለው መለሱላቸው።BSBBSB: But one day the evil spirit responded, “Jesus I know, and I know about Paul, but who are you?”
16. 16ULBክፉ መንፈስ ያለበትም ሰው ዘሎ ያዛቸው፤ አሸንፏቸውም ደበደባቸው። ከዚያም ቤት ቈስለው ዕራቁታቸውን ሸሹ።BSBBSB: Then the man with the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. The attack was so violent that they ran out of the house naked and wounded.
17. 17ULBይህም በኤፌሶን ይኖሩ በነበሩ አይሁድና ግሪኮችም ዘንድ ሁሉ ታወቀ። እነርሱም ሁሉ በፍርሀት ተዋጡ፤ የጌታ ኢየሱስም ስም ተከበረ።BSBBSB: This became known to all the Jews and Greeks living in Ephesus, and fear came over all of them. So the name of the Lord Jesus was held in high honor.
18. 18ULBደግሞም ካመኑት ብዙዎቹ መጥተው ቀደም ሲል ያደረጉትን ክፉ ነገር ሳይሸሽጉ ይናዘዙ ነበር።BSBBSB: Many who had believed now came forward, confessing and disclosing their deeds.
19. 19ULBአስማተኞችም የጥንቈላ መጻሕፍታቸውን ሰብስበው እያመጡ በሰው ሁሉ ፊት አቃጠሉ፤ ዋጋቸውም ሲተመን ሃምሳ ሺህ ብር ሆነ።BSBBSB: And a number of those who had practiced magic arts brought their books and burned them in front of everyone. When the value of the books was calculated, the total came to fifty thousand drachmas.
20. 20ULBበዚህም መሠረት የጌታ ቃል በስፋትና በኀይል ተሠራጨ።BSBBSB: So the word of the Lord powerfully continued to spread and prevail.
21. 21ULBጳውሎስ በኤፌሶን የነበረውን አገልግሎቱን ከፈጸመ በኋላ፣ በመቄዶንያና በአካይያ አድርጎ ወደ ኢየሩሳሌም ለመሄድ በመንፈስ ቅዱስ ሆኖ ወሰነ፤ ደግሞም፣ “እዚያ ከደረስሁ በኋላም፣ ሮሜን ማየት ይገባኛል” አለ።BSBBSB: After these things had happened, Paul resolved in the Spirit to go to Jerusalem, passing through Macedonia and Achaia. “After I have been there,” he said, “I must see Rome as well.”
22. 22ULBሲረዱት ከነበሩት ደቀ መዛሙርቱ ሁለቱን፣ ጢሞቴዎስንና ኤርስጦንን ወደ መቄዶንያ ላካቸው። እርሱ ራሱ ግን ጥቂት ጊዜ በእስያ ቆየ።BSBBSB: He sent two of his helpers, Timothy and Erastus, to Macedonia, while he stayed for a time in the province of Asia.
23. 23ULBበዚህ ጊዜ የጌታን መንገድ በተመለከተ በኤፌሶን ትልቅ ሁከት ተነሣ።BSBBSB: About that time there arose a great disturbance about the Way.
24. 24ULBድሜጥሮስ የሚባል አንድ ብር ሠሪም የዲያናን ምስል ከብር እያበጀ ለአንጥረኞች ትልቅ ገቢ ያስገኝላቸው ነበር።BSBBSB: It began with a silversmith named Demetrius who made silver shrines of Artemis, bringing much business to the craftsmen.
25. 25ULBስለዚህ በዚህ ሙያ ላይ የተሰማሩትን ብዙ ሠራተኞች አንድ ላይ ሰብስቦ፣ “ሰዎች ሆይ፤ በዚህ ሙያችን ብዙ ገንዘብ እንደምናገኝ ታውቃላችሁ።BSBBSB: Demetrius assembled the craftsmen, along with the workmen in related trades. “Men,” he said, “you know that this business is our source of prosperity.
26. 26ULBይህ ጳውሎስ በኤፌሶን ብቻ ሳይሆን፣ ከብዙ በጥቂቱ በእስያ ሁሉ አብዛኛውን ሕዝብ በቃላት እያባበለ ከእኛ ማራቁን እያያችሁና እየሰማችሁ ነው። በእጅ የሚሠሩ አማልክት የሉም እያላቸው ነው።BSBBSB: And you can see and hear that not only in Ephesus, but in nearly the whole province of Asia, this Paul has persuaded a great number of people to turn away. He says that man-made gods are no gods at all.
27. 27ULBየእኛ ሞያዊ ጥበብ አላስፈላጊ መሆኑ ብቻ ሳይሆን፣ የታላቅዋ አምላክ የዲያና ቤተ መቅደስም እንደ ከንቱ ነገር የመቍጠር አደጋ ያሠጋል፤ እስያ ሁሉና ዓለሙ የሚያመልካት ይህች አምላክም ዝናዋን ታጣለች።”BSBBSB: There is danger not only that our business will fall into disrepute, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis will be discredited and her majesty deposed—she who is worshiped by all the province of Asia and the whole world.”
28. 28ULBሕዝቡም ይህን በሰሙ ጊዜ፣ በቍጣ ተሞልተው፣ “የኤፌሶንዋ ዲያና ታላቅ ናት” እያሉ ጮኹ።BSBBSB: When the men heard this, they were enraged and began shouting, “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!”
29. 29ULBከተማው ሁሉ ድብልቅልቁ ወጣ፤ ሕዝቡም በአንድ ላይ ገንፍለው ወደ ቲያትር ማሳያው ቦታ ገቡ። ከመቄዶንያ የመጡትንም የጳውሎስን የጕዞ ባልደረቦች፣ ጋይዮስንና አርስጥሮኮስን ያዙአቸው።BSBBSB: Soon the whole city was in disarray. They rushed together into the theatre, dragging with them Gaius and Aristarchus, Paul’s traveling companions from Macedonia.
30. 30ULBጳውሎስ ወደ ሕዝቡ ሊደባለቅ ፈልጎ ነበር፤ ደቀ መዛሙርቱ ግን ከለከሉት።BSBBSB: Paul wanted to go before the assembly, but the disciples would not allow him.
31. 31ULBደግሞም፣ የጳውሎስ ወዳጆች የነበሩ አንዳንድ የአካባቢ ሹሞች ጳውሎስ ወደ ቲያትር ማሳያ ቦታ እንዳይገባ መልእክት ላኩበት።BSBBSB: Even some of Paul’s friends who were officials of the province of Asia sent word to him, begging him not to venture into the theatre.
32. 32ULBሕዝቡ ሁሉ ግራ ተጋብቶ ነበርና፣ አንዳንዶቹ ስለ አንድ ነገር ሲጮኹ፣ አንዳንዶቹ ደግሞ ስለ ሌላ ነገር ይጮኹ ነበር። አብዛኛዎቹ ደግሞ ለምን ተሰብስበው እንደ ወጡ እንኳ አያውቁም ነበር።BSBBSB: Meanwhile the assembly was in turmoil. Some were shouting one thing and some another, and most of them did not even know why they were there.
33. 33ULBአይሁድም እስክንድሮስን ገፋፍተው ወደ ሕዝቡ ፊት አወጡት። እስክንድሮስ ለሕዝቡ በእጅ ምልክት እያሳየ ሊያስረዳቸው ሞከረ።BSBBSB: The Jews in the crowd pushed Alexander forward to explain himself, and he motioned for silence so he could make his defense to the people.
34. 34ULBሕዝቡም አይሁዳዊ መሆኑን በተረዱ ጊዜ ሁሉም በአንድ ድምፅ፣ “የኤፌሶንዋ ዲያና ታላቅ ናት” እያሉ ለሁለት ሰዓት ያህል ጮኹ።BSBBSB: But when they realized that he was a Jew, they all shouted in unison for about two hours: “Great is Artemis of the Ephesians!”
35. 35ULBየከተማዋ ጸሓፊ ሕዝቡን ዝም ካሰኘ በኋላ፣ እንዲህ አለ፤ “እናንተ የኤፌሶን ሰዎች ሆይ፣ የኤፌሶን ከተማ የታላቅዋ ዲያና ቤት መቅደስና ከሰማይ የወረደው ምስል ጠባቂ መሆንዋን የማያውቅ የትኛው ሰው ነው?BSBBSB: Finally the city clerk quieted the crowd and declared, “Men of Ephesus, doesn’t everyone know that the city of Ephesus is guardian of the temple of the great Artemis and of her image, which fell from heaven?
36. 36ULBእንግዲህ ይህ የማይካድ ነገር መሆኑ ከታያችሁ፣ ጸጥ ልትሉ፣ አንዳች ነገርም በችኰላ ልታደርጉ አይገባም፤BSBBSB: Since these things are undeniable, you ought to be calm and not do anything rash.
37. 37ULBምክንያቱም አብያተ መቅደስን ያልሰረቁ፣ አማልክታችንንም ያልሰደቡ እነዚህን ሰዎች ወደዚህ ፍርድ ቤት አምጥታችኋል።BSBBSB: For you have brought these men here, though they have neither robbed our temple nor blasphemed our goddess.
38. 38ULBስለዚህ ድሜጥሮስና ከእርሱ ጋር ያሉ አንጥረኞች የሚከሱት ሰው ካለ፣ ፍርድ ቤቱ ክፍት ነው፤ ዳኞችም አሉ፤ እዚያ እርስ በርስ ይካሰሱ።BSBBSB: So if Demetrius and his fellow craftsmen have a complaint against anyone, the courts are open and proconsuls are available. Let them bring charges against one another there.
39. 39ULBስለ ሌላ ጉዳይ የምትፈልጉት ነገር ካለ ግን፣ ችግሩ በመደበኛው ጉባኤ ይፈታል፤BSBBSB: But if you are seeking anything beyond this, it must be settled in a legal assembly.
40. 40ULBምክንያቱም በዛሬው ቀን የነበረው ዐመፅ ሳያስጠይቀን አይቀርም። የነበረው ግርግር መንሥኢ የለውም፤ እንዲህ ነው ብለን ልንገልጸውም አንችልም።”BSBBSB: For we are in jeopardy of being charged with rioting for today’s events, and we have no justification to account for this commotion.”
41. 41ULBጸሓፊው ይህን ተናግሮ ጉባኤውን አሰናበተው።BSBBSB: After he had said this, he dismissed the assembly.
