1 ULB አብርሃም ቀጡራ የምትባል ሌላ ሚስት አገባ፤ BSB BSB: Now Abraham had taken another wife, named Keturah,
2 ULB እርስዋም ዚምራንን፣ ዮቅሻንን፣ መዳንን፣ ምድያምን፣ ዩሽባቅንና ሹሐን ወለደችለት። BSB BSB: and she bore him Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak, and Shuah.
3 ULB ዮቅሻንም ሳባንና ደዳንን ወለደ፤ የዳደንም ዝርያዎች አሹራውያን፣ ሌጡሻውያንና ሌአማውያን ናቸው። BSB BSB: Jokshan was the father of Sheba and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were the Asshurites, the Letushites, and the Leummites.
4 ULB የምድያም ልጆች ዔፋ፣ ዔፈር፣ ሐኖክ፣ አቢዳዕና ኤልዳዓ ናቸው፤ እነዚሁ ሁሉ የቁጠራ ዝርያዎች ናቸው። BSB BSB: The sons of Midian were Ephah, Epher, Hanoch, Abida, and Eldaah. All these were descendants of Keturah.
5 ULB አብርሃም ያለው ሀብት ሁሉ ለይስሐቅ አወረሰው፤ BSB BSB: Abraham left everything he owned to Isaac.
6 ULB ከሌሎች ሴቶች ለተወለዱትም ልጆች ገና በሕይወት ሳለ ስጦታ ሰጣቸው፤ ከዚህ በኋላ እነዚህ ሌሎች ልጆች ከይስሐቅ ርቀው ወደ ምሥራቅ አገር እንዲሄዱ አደረጋቸው። BSB BSB: But while he was still alive, Abraham gave gifts to the sons of his concubines and sent them away from his son Isaac to the land of the east.
7 ULB የአብርሃም ዕድሜ በአጠቃላይ መቶ ሰባ አምስት ዓመት ነበር፤ BSB BSB: Abraham lived a total of 175 years.
8 ULB በዚህም ዐይነት አብርሃም በቂ ዕድሜ አግኝቶ ካረጀ በኋላ ሞተ፤ BSB BSB: And at a ripe old age he breathed his last and died, old and contented, and was gathered to his people.
9 ULB ልጆቹ ይሰሐቅና እስማኤል ማክጴላ በተባለ ዋሻ ቀበሩት፤ ይህም ዋሻ ከመምሬ በስተምሥራቅ በሒታዊ በጶሐር ልጅ በዔፍሮን እርሻ ውስጥ የሚገኘው ነው። BSB BSB: His sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah near Mamre, in the field of Ephron son of Zohar the Hittite.
10 ULB እነሱም አብርሃም ከሒታዊያን ላይ የገዛው የመቃብር ቦታ ነው፤ በዚህ ዐይነት አብርሃም ሚስቱ ሣራ በተቀበረችበት ዋሻ ተቀበረ። BSB BSB: This was the field that Abraham had bought from the Hittites. Abraham was buried there with his wife Sarah.
11 ULB አብርሃም ከሞተ በኋላ ልጁን ይስሐቅን እግዚአብሔር ባረከው፤ ይስሐቅ "ብኤርላሐይሮኢ ወይም የሚያየኝ ሕያው አምላክ" ተብሎ በመጠራት ኩሬ አጠገብ ይኖር ነበር። BSB BSB: After Abraham’s death, God blessed his son Isaac, who lived near Beer-lahai-roi.
12 ULB የሣራ አገልጋይ ግብፃዊትዋ አጋር ለአብርሃም የወለደችለትን እስማኤል፤ BSB BSB: This is the account of Abraham’s son Ishmael, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah’s maidservant, bore to Abraham.
13 ULB ከዚህ በታች በዕድሜአቸው ቅደም ተከተል ተራ የተዘረዘሩትን ልጆች ወለደ፤ እነርሱም፦ ነባዮት፣ ቄዳር፣ አድብኤል፣ ሚብሣም፣ BSB BSB: These are the names of the sons of Ishmael in the order of their birth: Nebaioth the firstborn of Ishmael, then Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam,
14 ULB ሚሽማዕ፣ ዱማ፣ ማሣ፣ BSB BSB: Mishma, Dumah, Massa,
15 ULB ሐዳድ፣ ቴማ፣ ይጡር፣ ናፊሽና ቄድማ ናቸው። BSB BSB: Hadad, Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah.
16 ULB እነዚህ የእስማኤል ልጆች ለአሥራ ሁለት ነገዶች ቅድመ አያቶች ነበሩ፤ ስማቸውም በኖሩባቸው ከተሞችና ስፍራዎች ሲጠራ ይኖራል። BSB BSB: These were the sons of Ishmael, and these were their names by their villages and encampments—twelve princes of their tribes.
17 ULB እስማኤል መቶ ሠላሳ ሰባት ዓመት ሲሆነው ሞተ። BSB BSB: Ishmael lived a total of 137 years. Then he breathed his last and died, and was gathered to his people.
18 ULB የእስማኤል ዝርያዎች ከግብፅ በስተምጅራቅ ወደ አሦር በምትወስደው መንገድ በሐዊላና በሹር መካከል ይኖሩ ነበር። የኖሩበትም ከሌሎቹ የአብርሃም ዝርያዎች ጋር በጥላቻ ተራርቀው ነበር። BSB BSB: Ishmael’s descendants settled from Havilah to Shur, which is near the border of Egypt as you go toward Asshur. And they lived in hostility toward all their brothers.
19 ULB የአብርሃም ልጅ ይስሐቅ ታሪክ ይህ ነው። አብርሃም ይስሐቅን ወለደ። BSB BSB: This is the account of Abraham’s son Isaac. Abraham became the father of Isaac,
20 ULB ይስሐቅ የባቱኤልን ልጅ ርብቃን ሲያገባ አርባ ዓመት ሆኖት ነበር፤ የርብቃ አባት ባቱኤልና ወንድምዋ ላባ በመስጴጦምያ የሞኖሩ ሶሪያውያን ነበሩ። BSB BSB: and Isaac was forty years old when he married Rebekah, the daughter of Bethuel the Aramean from Paddan-aram and the sister of Laban the Aramean.
21 ULB ርብቃ መኻን ስለ ነበረች ይስሐቅ ስለ እርስዋ ወደ እግዚአብሔር ጸለየ፤ እግዚአብሔርም ጸሎቱን ስለ ሰማ ርብቃ ፀነሰች፤ BSB BSB: Later, Isaac prayed to the LORD on behalf of his wife, because she was barren. And the LORD heard his prayer, and his wife Rebekah conceived.
22 ULB የተፀነሱትም መንትያዎች ስለነበሩ እርስ በርሳቸው በማሕፀንዋ ውስጥ ይገፋ ነበር፤ እርስዋም "ይህን ዐይነት በገር ለምን ደረሰብኝ?" በማለት ወደ እግዚአብሔር ለመጸለይ ተነሣሣች። BSB BSB: But the children inside her struggled with each other, and she said, “Why is this happening to me?” So Rebekah went to inquire of the LORD,
23 ULB እግዚአብሔርም ያሉት ሁለት ሕዝቦች ናቸው፤ እርስ በርሳቸው የማይስማሙ ሁለት ወገኖች ትወልጃለሽ፤ አንዱም ከሌላው የበረታ ይሆናል፤ ታላቁም ታናሹ አገልጋይ ይሆናል" አላት። BSB BSB: and He declared to her: “Two nations are in your womb, and two peoples from within you will be separated; one people will be stronger than the other, and the older will serve the younger.”
24 ULB የመውለጃዋም ሰዓት በደረሰ ጊዜ ሁለት ወንዶች ልጆች ወለደ። BSB BSB: When her time came to give birth, there were indeed twins in her womb.
25 ULB የመጀመሪያው ልጅ መልኩ ቀይ፣ ሰውነቱ ጠጉራም ነበር፤ ስለዚህ ዔሳው ተባለ። BSB BSB: The first one came out red, covered with hair like a fur coat; so they named him Esau.
26 ULB ሁለተኛው ልጅ ሲወለድ የዔሳውን ተገረዝ ይዞ በመውጣቱ ያዕቆብ ተባለ፤ ልጆቹ በተወለዱ ጊዜ ይስሐቅ ስልሳ ዓመት ሆኖት ነበር። BSB BSB: After this, his brother came out grasping Esau’s heel; so he was named Jacob. And Isaac was sixty years old when the twins were born.
27 ULB ሁለቱም ልጆች አደጉ፤ ዔሳው በዱር መዋል የሚወደ ብልኅ አዳኝ ሆነ፤ ያዕቆብ ግን በቤት መዋል የሚወድ ጭምት ሰው ነበር። BSB BSB: When the boys grew up, Esau became a skillful hunter, a man of the field, while Jacob was a quiet man who stayed at home.
28 ULB ይስሐቅ ዔሳውን ይወድ ነበር። ምክንያቱም ዔሳው እያደነ ሥጋ ያበላው ነበር።ርብቃ ግን ያዕቆብን ትንን ነበር። BSB BSB: Because Isaac had a taste for wild game, he loved Esau; but Rebekah loved Jacob.
29 ULB ለዕለታት አንድ ቀን ያዕቆብ ቀይ የምስር ወጥ በመሥራት ላይ እንዳለ ዔሳው ከአደን መጣ፤ በጣም እርቦት ነበር፤ BSB BSB: One day, while Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau came in from the field and was famished.
30 ULB ስለዚህም ያዕቆብ "ከዚህ ከቀይ ወጥ ሰጠኝ" አለው። ኤዶም የተባለውም ነዚሁ ምክንያት ነበር። BSB BSB: He said to Jacob, “Let me eat some of that red stew, for I am famished.” (That is why he was also called Edom.)
31 ULB ያዕቆብም "በመጀመሪያ ብኩርናህን ሽጥልኝ" አለው። BSB BSB: “First sell me your birthright,” Jacob replied.
32 ULB ዔሳውም "እኔ በረሀብ መሞቴ ነው፤ ታዲያ ብኩርና ምን ያደርግልኛል?" አለው። BSB BSB: “Look,” said Esau, “I am about to die, so what good is a birthright to me?”
33 ULB ያዕቆብም "እንግዲያውስ ብኩርናህን እንደምትሸጥልኝ መጀመሪያ ማልልኝ" አለው። ስለዚህ ዔሳው ምሎ ብኩርናውን ለያዕቆብ ሸጠ። BSB BSB: “Swear to me first,” Jacob said. So Esau swore to Jacob and sold him the birthright.
34 ULB ከዚህ በኋላ ያዕቆብ የምስሩን ወጥ በእንጀራ አድርጎ ሰጠው፤ ዔሳውም ከበላና ከጠጣ በኋላ ተነሥቶ ሄደ፤ በዚህ ዐይነት ዔሳው ብኩርናውን በመናቅ አቃለላት። BSB BSB: Then Jacob gave some bread and lentil stew to Esau, who ate and drank and then got up and went away. Thus Esau despised his birthright.
