1 ULB በአብርሃም ዘመን ከደረሰው ረሀብ ሌላ ዳግመኛ ረሀብ በምድር ላይ መጣ፤ በዚህ ምክንያት ይስሐቅ የፍልስጥኤማዋን ንጉሥ አቢሜሌክ ወዳለበት ወደ ገራር ሄደ፤ BSB BSB: Now there was another famine in the land, subsequent to the one that had occurred in Abraham’s time. And Isaac went to Abimelech king of the Philistines at Gerar.
2 ULB በዚህም እግዚአብሔር ለይስሐቅ ተገለጠለትና እንዲህ አለው፣ "ወደ ግብፅ አገር አትሂድ፤ እንድትኖርበትም በምነግርህ በዚህ ምድር ተቀመጥ፤ BSB BSB: The LORD appeared to Isaac and said, “Do not go down to Egypt. Settle in the land where I tell you.
3 ULB እዚሁ ኑር፤ እኔም ከአንተ ጋር እሆናለሁ፤ እባርክሃለሁ፤ ይህም ምድር ለአንተና ለዝርይዎችህ እሰጣለሁ፤ በዚህ ዐይነት ለአባትህ ለአብርሃም የገባሁትን ቃል ኪዳን እፈፅማለሁ፤ BSB BSB: Stay in this land as a foreigner, and I will be with you and bless you. For I will give all these lands to you and your offspring, and I will confirm the oath that I swore to your father Abraham.
4 ULB ዘርህን አንደ ሰማይ ክዋክብት አበዛዋልለሁ፤ ይህንንም ሁሉ ምድር አወርሳቸዋለሁ፤ ይህንንም ሁሉ በዘርህ ይባረካሉ። BSB BSB: I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky, and I will give them all these lands, and through your offspring all nations of the earth will be blessed,
5 ULB አንተን የምባርክበትንም ምክንያት አባትህ አብርሃም ለእኔ ታዛዥ በመሆን የሰጠሁት ሕግና ሥርዓት ሁሉ ስለ ጠበወ ነው። BSB BSB: because Abraham listened to My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws.”
6 ULB ስለዚህ ይስሐቅ መኖሪያውን በገራር አደረገ፤ BSB BSB: So Isaac settled in Gerar.
7 ULB በዚያ አገር ስሰዎችም ስለ ርብቃ "ምንህናት" ብለው በጠየቁት ጊዜ "እኅቴ ናት" አላቸው፤ ይህንንም ያለበት ምክንያት ርብቃ በጣም ቆንጆ ስለ ነበረች የዚያ አገር ሰዎች በእርስዋ ሰበብ እንዳይገድሉት በመፍራት ነው። BSB BSB: But when the men of that place asked about his wife, he said, “She is my sister.” For he was afraid to say, “She is my wife,” since he thought to himself, “The men of this place will kill me on account of Rebekah, because she is so beautiful.”
8 ULB ይስሐቅ እዚያ አገር ብዙ ጊዜ ከቆያ በኋላ የፍልስጥኤም ንጉሥ አቢሜሌክ በመስኮት ወደ ውጪ ሲመለከት ይስሐቅና ርብቃ እንደባልና ሚስት በመዳራት ሲጫወቱ አየ። BSB BSB: When Isaac had been there a long time, Abimelech king of the Philistines looked down from the window and was surprised to see Isaac caressing his wife Rebekah.
9 ULB ስለዚህ አቢሜሌክ ይስሐቅን አስጠርቶ "ለካስ ርብቃ ሚስትህ ናት! ታዲያ "እኅቴ ናት' ያልከው ለምንድን ነው?" ሲል ጠየቀው። እርሱም "ሚስቴ ነች ያልኩ እንደሆን ሰዎች ይገድሉኝል ብዬ አስፈራሁ ነው" ብሎ መለሰ። BSB BSB: Abimelech sent for Isaac and said, “So she is really your wife! How could you say, ‘She is my sister’?” Isaac replied, “Because I thought I might die on account of her.”
10 ULB አቢሜሌክ "ይህ በእኛ ላይ ያደረግኸው ነገር ምንድን ነው? ከእኛ ሰዎች አንዱ በቀላሉ ሚስትህን ለመድፈር በቻለ ነበር፤" BSB BSB: “What is this you have done to us?” asked Abimelech. “One of the people could easily have slept with your wife, and you would have brought guilt upon us.”
11 ULB ቀጥሎም አቢሜሌክ "ይህን ሰው ወይም ሚስቱን የሚነካ ሰው በሞቱ ይቀጣል"የሚል ማስጠንቀቂያ ለሕዝቡ ሰጠ። BSB BSB: So Abimelech warned all the people, saying, “Whoever harms this man or his wife will surely be put to death.”
12 ULB ይስሐቅ በዚያች ምድር ዘርን ዘራ፤ እግዚአብሔር ስለባረከውም በዚያኑ ዓመት መቶ እጥፍ አመረተ፤ BSB BSB: Now Isaac sowed seed in the land, and that very year he reaped a hundredfold. And the LORD blessed him,
13 ULB ሀብት በሀብት ላይ እየተጨመረበት ዘመን የእርሱ አገልጋዮች ቁፍረዋቸው የነበሩትን የውሃ ጉድጓዶች ሁሉ ዐፈር ሞልተው ደፈኑአቸው። BSB BSB: and he became richer and richer, until he was exceedingly wealthy.
14 ULB ብዙ የበግና የከብት መንጋ፤ እንዲሁም ብዙ አገልጋዮች ስለ ነበሩት ፍልስጥኤማውያን ቀኑበት። BSB BSB: He owned so many flocks and herds and servants that the Philistines envied him.
15 ULB ስለዚህ የይስሐቅ አባት አብርሃም በሕይወት በነበረበት ዘመን የእሱን አገልጋዮች ቁፍረዋቸው የነበሩትን ውሃ ጉድጓዶች ሁሉ ዐፈር ሞልተው ደፈኑአቸው። BSB BSB: So the Philistines took dirt and stopped up all the wells that his father’s servants had dug in the days of his father Abraham.
16 ULB በዚያን ጊዜ አቢሜሌክ ይስሐቅን "ኅይልህ ከእኛ ይልቅ እየበረታ ስለሄደ፤ አገራችንን ለቀህ ውጣ" አለው። BSB BSB: Then Abimelech said to Isaac, “Depart from us, for you are much too powerful for us.”
17 ULB በዚህ ምክንያት ይስሐቅ ያንን ቦታ ለቆ በገራር ሸለቆ ውስጥ ሰፈረ፤ እዚያም ተቀመጠ። BSB BSB: So Isaac left that place and encamped in the Valley of Gerar and settled there.
18 ULB አብርሃም በሕይወት ሳለ አስቆፍሮአቸው የነበሩትን አብርሃም ከሞተ በኋላ ግን ፍልስጥኤማውያን የደፈኑአቸውን የውሃ ጉድጓዶች ይስሐቅ እንደገና እንዲቆፍሩ አደረገ፤ አባቱ ባወጣላቸ ስሞችም ጠራቸው። BSB BSB: Isaac reopened the wells that had been dug in the days of his father Abraham, which the Philistines had stopped up after Abraham died. And he gave these wells the same names his father had given them.
19 ULB የይስሐቅ አገልጋዮች በሸለቆው ውስጥ የውሃ ጉድጓድ ቁፍሩና ጥሩ የምንጭ ውሃ አገኙ፤ BSB BSB: Then Isaac’s servants dug in the valley and found a well of fresh water there.
20 ULB የገራር እረኞች ግን "ይህ ውሃ የእኛ ነው" በማለት ከይስሐቅ እረኞች ጋር ተጣሉ።በዚህ ምክንያት ይስሐቅ ጉድጓዱን "ዔሤቅ" ብሎ ሰየመው። BSB BSB: But the herdsmen of Gerar quarreled with Isaac’s herdsmen and said, “The water is ours!” So he named the well Esek, because they contended with him.
21 ULB የይስሐቅ አገልጋዮች ሌላ የውሃ ጉድጓድ ቁፈሩ፤ በዚህኛውም ጉድጓድ ምክንያት ሌላ ጠብ ተነሣ፤ ስለዚህ ይስሐቅ ይህን ጉድጓድ "ስጥና" ብሎ ሰየመው። BSB BSB: Then they dug another well and quarreled over that one also; so he named it Sitnah.
22 ULB ከዚያም እልፍ ብሎ ሌላ የውሃ ጉድጓድ ምክንያት ምንም ጠብ ስላልተናሳ "እነሆ አሁን እግዚአብሔር ሰፊ ቦታ ሰጠን፤ በምድር ላይም እንበዛለን ሲል ያንን ቦታ 'ረሖቦት" ብሎ ሰየመው። BSB BSB: He moved on from there and dug another well, and they did not quarrel over it. He named it Rehoboth and said, “At last the LORD has made room for us, and we will be fruitful in the land.”
23 ULB ከዚያ በኋላ ይስሐቅ ወደ ቤርሳቤህ ወጣ፤ BSB BSB: From there Isaac went up to Beersheba,
24 ULB በዚያን ሌሊት እግዚአብሔር ተገለጠለትና "እኔ የአባትህ አምላክ ነኝ፤እኔ ከአንተ ጋር ስለሆንኩ አትፍራ! ለአገልጋዬ ለአብርሃም በገባሁት ቃል ኪዳን መሠረት እባርክሃለሁ፤ ዘርህንም አበዛዋለሁ" አለው። BSB BSB: and that night the LORD appeared to him and said, “I am the God of your father Abraham. Do not be afraid, for I am with you. I will bless you and multiply your descendants for the sake of My servant Abraham.”
25 ULB ይስሐቅ በዚያ መሠዊያ መሠዊያ ሠራና ለእግዚአብሔር ሰገደ፤ መኖሪያውንም እዚያ አደረገ፤ አገልጋዮቹም ሌላ ጉድጓድ ቆፈሩ። BSB BSB: So Isaac built an altar there and called on the name of the LORD, and he pitched his tent there. His servants also dug a well there.
26 ULB አቢሜሌክ ከአማካሪው ከአሑዘትና ከሠራዊቱ ኣዥ ኮፊኮል ጋር ይስሐቅን ለመጎብኘት ከገራር ወት፤ BSB BSB: Later, Abimelech came to Isaac from Gerar, with Ahuzzath his adviser and Phicol the commander of his army.
27 ULB ስለዚህ ይስሐቅ "ከዚህ በፊት ጠልታችሁን አገራችሁ እንድወጣ አድርጋችሁኛል፤ ታዲያ አሁን ልትጎበኝ የመጣችሁት ለምንድን ነው?" አላቸው። BSB BSB: “Why have you come to me?” Isaac asked them. “You hated me and sent me away.”
28 ULB እነርሱም እንዲህ ሲሉ መለሱለት፣ "እግዚአብሔር ከአንተ ጋር መሆኑን በግልጥ ዐውቀናል፤ ስለዚህ በእኛና በአንተ መካከል በሰላም ለመኖር የሚያስችል ስምምነት በመሐላ ለመፈፀም አስበናል፤ በዚህም መጀረት ቃል ኮዳን እንድትገባልን የሚንፈለገው፣ BSB BSB: “We can plainly see that the LORD has been with you,” they replied. “We recommend that there should now be an oath between us and you. Let us make a covenant with you
29 ULB በእኛ ላይ ምንም ዐይነት በደል እንዳታደርስብን ነው፤ ምክንያቱም እኛ በአንተ ላይ ምንም ግፍ አልሠራንም፤ ዘውትር መልካም ነገር አደረግንልህ እንጂ ክፉ አላደረግብህም፤ ከአገራችንም የወጣኸው በሰላም ነው፤ አሁንም እግዚአብሔር ባርኮሃል።" BSB BSB: that you will not harm us, just as we have not harmed you but have done only good to you, sending you on your way in peace. And now you are blessed by the LORD.”
30 ULB ከዚህ በኋላ፣ ይስሐቅ ግብዣ አደረገላቸው፤ እነሱም በሉ፣ ጠጡ። BSB BSB: So Isaac prepared a feast for them, and they ate and drank.
31 ULB በማግሥቱ ጠዋት በማለዳ ተነሡና ተማማሉ፤ ይስሐቅ ካሰናበታቸው በኋላም በሰላም ሄዱ። BSB BSB: And they got up early the next morning and swore an oath to each other. Then Isaac sent them on their way, and they left him in peace.
32 ULB ከዚያኑ ቀን የይስሐቅ አገልጋዮች መጥተው ስለ ቁፈሩት ጉድጓድ ለይስሐቅ ነገሩት፤ "ውሃ አገኘን" ብለውም አበሠሩት። BSB BSB: On that same day, Isaac’s servants came and told him about the well they had dug. “We have found water!” they told him.
33 ULB እርሱም የውሃን ጉድጓድ "ሳቤህ"ብሎ ጠራው፤ ስለዚህም የከተማይቱ ስም እስከ ዛሬ "ቤርሳቤህ" እየተባለ ይጠራል። BSB BSB: So he called it Shibah, and to this day the name of the city is Beersheba.
34 ULB ዔሳው አርባ ዓመት ሲሆንው የብኤሪን ልጅ ዮዲትንና የኤሎንን ልጅ ባሴማትን አገባ፤ ሁለቱም ሒታውያን ነበሩ። BSB BSB: When Esau was forty years old, he took as his wives Judith daughter of Beeri the Hittite and Basemath daughter of Elon the Hittite.
35 ULB ይህም ጋብቻ ይስሐቅንና ርብቃን ሲያዝናቸው ይኖር ነበር። BSB BSB: And they brought grief to Isaac and Rebekah.
