1 ULB ይስሐቅ አርጅቶ ዐይኖቹም ታውረው ነበር፤ ታላቁ ልጁን ዔሳውን፤ "ልጄ ሆይ!" ብሎ ጠራው፤ ልጁም "እነሆ አለሁ" አለ። BSB BSB: When Isaac was old and his eyes were so weak that he could no longer see, he called his older son Esau and said to him, “My son.” “Here I am,” Esau replied.
2 ULB ይስሐቅም እንዲህ አለው፣ "እንደምታየኝ አርጅቻለሁ፤ የምሞትበትንም ቀን አላውቅም፤ BSB BSB: “Look,” said Isaac, “I am now old, and I do not know the day of my death.
3 ULB ስለዚህ የምታድንበትን ቀስትና ፍላጻ ያዝ፤ ወደ ዱር ሂድና አውሬ አድነህ ሥጋ አምጣልኝ፤ BSB BSB: Take your weapons—your quiver and bow—and go out into the field to hunt some game for me.
4 ULB ልክ እንደምወደው አድርገህ ምግብ ሥራልኝ ከበላሁም በኋላ ከመሞቴ በፊት የመጨረሻ ምርቃቴን እሰጥሃለሁ።" BSB BSB: Then prepare a tasty dish that I love and bring it to me to eat, so that I may bless you before I die.”
5 ULB ይስሐቅ ለልጁ ለዔሳው ወደ አደን ከሄደ በኋላ፣ BSB BSB: Now Rebekah was listening to what Isaac told his son Esau. So when Esau went into the field to hunt game and bring it back,
6 ULB ርብቃ ልጅዋን ያዕቆብን "አባትህ ዔሳውን እንዲህ ሲለው ሰማሁ፣ BSB BSB: Rebekah said to her son Jacob, “Behold, I overheard your father saying to your brother Esau,
7 ULB አውሬ አድነህ ሥጋ አምጣልኝ፤ ልክ እንደምወደው አድርገህ የጣፈጠ ምግብ ሥራልኝ፤ ሳልሞትም በእግዚአብሔር ፊት እነርቅሃለሁ፤ BSB BSB: ‘Bring me some game and prepare me a tasty dish to eat, so that I may bless you in the presence of the LORD before I die.’
8 ULB አሁንም ልጄ ሆይ! የምነግርህን አድምጥ፤ የማዝህንም አድርግ፤ BSB BSB: Now, my son, listen to my voice and do exactly as I tell you.
9 ULB አባትህ እንደሚወደው አጣፋጩ ጥሩ ምግብ እንድሠራለት፣ ወደ መንጋዎች ሂድና ሁለት የሰቡ የፍየል ጥቦቶች አምጣልኝ፤ BSB BSB: Go out to the flock and bring me two choice young goats, so that I can make them into a tasty dish for your father—the kind he loves.
10 ULB አንተም ያዘጋጀሁትን ምግብ እንዲበላ ለአባትህ ወስደህ ታቀርብለታለህ፤ በዚህ ዐይነት አባትህ ከመሞቱ በፊት ይመርቅሃል።" BSB BSB: Then take it to your father to eat, so that he may bless you before he dies.”
11 ULB ያዕቆብ ግን እናቱን ርብቃን "የወንድሜ የዔሳው ገላ ጠጉራም ነው፤ የ እኔ ገላ ግን ምንም ጠጉር የሌለው ለስላሳ ነው፤ BSB BSB: Jacob answered his mother Rebekah, “Look, my brother Esau is a hairy man, but I am smooth-skinned.
12 ULB ምናልባት አባቴ ቢዳስሰኝና እንዳታለልኩህ ቢያውቅ በምርቃት ፈንታ እርግማን እንደማተርፍ ታውቂ የለምን?" አላት። BSB BSB: What if my father touches me? Then I would be revealed to him as a deceiver, and I would bring upon myself a curse rather than a blessing.”
13 ULB እናቱም "ልጄ ሆይ! የአንተ እርግማን በእኔ ላይ ይሁን፤ አሁንም እንደነገርሁህ አድርግ፤ ሄድህ ጥቦቶቹን አምጣልኝ" አለችው። BSB BSB: His mother replied, “Your curse be on me, my son. Just obey my voice and go get them for me.”
14 ULB ስለዚህ ሄዶ ጥቦቶቹን አመጣለት እርስዋም ልክ አባቱ እንደሚወደው እድርጋ ጥሩ ወጥ ሠራች፤ BSB BSB: So Jacob went and got two goats and brought them to his mother, who made the tasty food his father loved.
15 ULB የታላቁ ልጅዋን የዔሳውን የክት ልብስ ከተቀመጠበት ቦታ አውጥታ ለያዕቆብ አለበሰችው። BSB BSB: And Rebekah took the finest clothes in the house that belonged to her older son Esau, and she put them on her younger son Jacob.
16 ULB የፍየሎቹንም ቆዳ በክንዶቹ ላይና ጠጉር በሌለበት በአንገቱ ላይ አለበሰችው። BSB BSB: She also put the skins of the young goats on his hands and on the smooth part of his neck.
17 ULB ያዘጋጀውንም ጥሩ ወጥ ከጋገረችው እንጀራ ጋር ልልጅዋ ለያዕቆብ ሰጠችው። BSB BSB: Then she handed her son Jacob the tasty food and bread she had made.
18 ULB ያዕቆብ ወደ አባቱ ሄደና "አባባ!" አለው፤ እርሱም "እነሆ አለሁ! ለመሆኑ አንተ የትኛው ልጄ ነህ!" አለ። BSB BSB: So Jacob went to his father and said, “My father.” “Here I am!” he answered. “Which one are you, my son?”
19 ULB ያዕቆብም "የበኩር ልጅህ ዔሳው ነኝ፤ እነሆ እንዳዘዝከኝ አድርጌአለሁ፤ እንድትመርቀኝ እስቲ ቀና በልና ያመጣሁልህን የአደን ሥጋ ተመገብ" አለው። BSB BSB: Jacob said to his father, “I am Esau, your firstborn. I have done as you told me. Please sit up and eat some of my game, so that you may bless me.”
20 ULB ይስሐቅም "ልጄ ሆይ! እንዴት ቶሎ ልታገኝ ቻልህ?" አለው። ያዕቆብም "አምላክህ እግዚአብሔር ስለረዳኝ በቶሎ ለማግኘት ቻልሁ" አለው። BSB BSB: But Isaac asked his son, “How did you ever find it so quickly, my son?” “Because the LORD your God brought it to me,” he replied.
21 ULB ይስሕቅም "እስቲ ወደ እኔ ቀረብ በልና ልዳብስህ፤ በእርግጥ አንተ ዔሳው ነህን?" አለው። BSB BSB: Then Isaac said to Jacob, “Please come closer so I can touch you, my son. Are you really my son Esau, or not?”
22 ULB ያዕቆብም ወደ አባቱ ተጠጋ፤ አባቱም ዳሰሰውና "ድምፅህ የያዕቆብ ድምፅ ይመስላል፤ ክንድህ ግን የዔሳውን ክንድ ይመስላል" አለው። BSB BSB: So Jacob came close to his father Isaac, who touched him and said, “The voice is the voice of Jacob, but the hands are the hands of Esau.”
23 ULB ክንዶቹ እንደ ዔሳው ክንዶች ጠጉራም ስለ ነበሩ ይስሐቅ ያዕቆብን ለይቶ ማውቅ አልቻለም፤ ሊመርቀው ከዝዘጋጀ በኋላ፣ BSB BSB: Isaac did not recognize him, because his hands were hairy like those of his brother Esau; so he blessed him.
24 ULB "እርግጥ አንተ ልጄ ዔሳው ነህን?" ሲል እንደገና ጠየቀው፤ እርሱም "አዎ ነን" አለ። BSB BSB: Again he asked, “Are you really my son Esau?” And he replied, “I am.”
25 ULB ይስሐቅም "ልጄ! በል ከአደንከው ሥጋ አቅርብልኝ፤ ከበላሁም በኋላ እመርቅህለሁ" አለው። ያዕቆብም ምግቡን አቀረበለት፤ የወይን ጠጅም እንዲጠጣ አመጣለት። BSB BSB: “Serve me,” said Isaac, “and let me eat some of my son’s game, so that I may bless you.” Jacob brought it to him, and he ate; then he brought him wine, and he drank.
26 ULB ከዚህ በኋላ አባቱ ይስሐቅ "ልጄ ሆይ! ቀረብ በልና ሳመኝ" አለው፤ BSB BSB: Then his father Isaac said to him, “Please come near and kiss me, my son.”
27 ULB ያዕቆብም ቀርቦ ሳመው። ይስሐቅ የያዕቆብ ልብስ ባሸተተ ጊዜ እንዲህ ሲል መረቀው፣ "እነሆ የልጄ መልካም ሽታ እግዚአብሔር እንደባረከው የእርሻ ሽታ ነው፤ BSB BSB: So he came near and kissed him. When Isaac smelled his clothing, he blessed him and said: “Ah, the smell of my son is like the smell of a field that the LORD has blessed.
28 ULB እግዚአብሔር ከሰማይ የሚያረሰርሰው ተል ይስጥህ፤ ምድርህን ያለምልምልህ፤ እህልንና የወይን ጠጅህን ያብዛልህ፤ BSB BSB: May God give to you the dew of heaven and the richness of the earth—an abundance of grain and new wine.
29 ULB መንግሥታት ይገዙልህ፤ ሕዝቦችህም ያገልግሉህ፤ በወንድሞችህ ሁሉ ላይ አለቃ ሁን፤ የእናትህም ልጆች ይስገዱልህ፤ የሚረግሙህ የተረገሙ ይሁኑ፤ የሚመርቁህ የተመረቁ ይሁኑ።" BSB BSB: May peoples serve you and nations bow down to you. May you be the master of your brothers, and may the sons of your mother bow down to you. May those who curse you be cursed, and those who bless you be blessed.”
30 ULB ይስሐቅ ያዕቆብን መርቆ እንዳበቃና ያዕቆብም አባቱን ፊት እንደወጣ ወዲያውኑ ዔሳው ከአደን ተመልሶ መጣ። BSB BSB: As soon as Isaac had finished blessing him and Jacob had left his father’s presence, his brother Esau returned from the hunt.
31 ULB እርሱም በበኩሉ የጣፈጠ ወጥ ሠርቶ ለአባቱ አቀረበለትና "አባቴ ሆይ እንድትመርቀኝ፣ እስቲ ቀና ብለህ ካመጣሁልህ የአደን ሥጋ ብላ" አለው። BSB BSB: He too made some tasty food, brought it to his father, and said to him, “My father, sit up and eat of your son’s game, so that you may bless me.”
32 ULB ይስሐቅም 'አንተ ማን ነህ?" አለው፤ እርሱም "እኔ የበኩር ልጅ ዔሳው ነኝ" አለ። BSB BSB: But his father Isaac replied, “Who are you?” “I am Esau, your firstborn son,” he answered.
33 ULB ይስሐቅም እጅግ ደንግጦ እየተነቀጠቀጠ "ታዲያ አውሬ አድኖ ያመጣልኝ ማን ነበረ? ልክ አንተ ከመምጣትህ በፊት ተመገብሁ የመጨረሻ ምርቃቴንም ሰጠሁት፤ ምርቃቱም ተእርሱ ሆኖ ይኖራል"አለው። BSB BSB: Isaac began to tremble violently and said, “Who was it, then, who hunted the game and brought it to me? Before you came in, I ate it all and blessed him—and indeed, he will be blessed!”
34 ULB ዔሳው ይህን በሰማ ጊዜ ድምፁን ከፍ በማድረግ ምርር ብሎ እያለቀሰ "አባቴ ሆይ! እኔንም መርቀኝ!" አለ። BSB BSB: When Esau heard his father’s words, he let out a loud and bitter cry and said to his father, “Bless me too, O my father!”
35 ULB ይስሐቅም "ወንድምህ መጥቶ እኔን በማታለል የአንተን ምርቃት ወስዶብሃል"አለው። BSB BSB: But Isaac replied, “Your brother came deceitfully and took your blessing.”
36 ULB ዔሳውም "እርሱ እኔን ሲያሰናክለኝ ይህ ሁለተኛው ነው፤ ያዕቆብ መባሉ ተገቢ ነው፤ ከዚህ በፊት ብኩርናዬን ወሰደብኝ፤ አሁን ደግሞ ምርቃቴን ቀማኝ፤ ታዲያ ለእኔ ያስቀረከው ምንም ምርቃት የለምን? አለው። BSB BSB: So Esau declared, “Is he not rightly named Jacob? For he has cheated me twice. He took my birthright, and now he has taken my blessing.” Then he asked, “Haven’t you saved a blessing for me?”
37 ULB ይስሐቅም "ቀድሞ ብዬ እርሱን የአንተ ጌታ አድርጌዋለሁ፤ ወንድሞቹ ሁሉ የእርሱ አገልጋዮች እንዲሆኑ አድርጌአለሁ፤ እህልና የወይን ጠጅ እንዲበዛለት አድርጌአለሁ፤ ልጄ ሆይ! እንግዲህ ለአንተ ምን ላደርግልህ እችላለሁ?" አለው። BSB BSB: But Isaac answered Esau: “Look, I have made him your master and given him all his relatives as servants; I have sustained him with grain and new wine. What is left that I can do for you, my son?”
38 ULB ዔሳውም "አባቴ ሆይ! ምርቃትህ እንዲት ብቻ ናትን? እባክህ እኔንም መርቀኝ" እያለ ለማልቀስ አባቱን ነዘነዘው። BSB BSB: Esau said to his father, “Do you have only one blessing, my father? Bless me too, O my father!” Then Esau wept aloud.
39 ULB ይስሐቅም አንዲህ አለው። "በረከት ከሞላበት ለምለም ምድር ርቀህ ትኖራለህ፤ የሰማይ ጠልም አታገኝም፤ BSB BSB: His father Isaac answered him: “Behold, your dwelling place shall be away from the richness of the land, away from the dew of heaven above.
40 ULB በሰይፍም ኅይል ትኖራለህ፤ የወንድምህም አገልጋይ ትሆናለህ፤ በተቃወምከውም ጊዜ ግን ከእርሱ ጭቁና ትላቀቃለህ።" BSB BSB: You shall live by the sword and serve your brother. But when you rebel, you will tear his yoke from your neck.”
41 ULB አባቱ ስለመረቀው ዔሳው ያዕቆብን አጥብቆ ጠላው፤ በልቡም "አባቴ በቅርብ ቀን ይሞታል፤ ከዚህ በኋላ ወንድሜን ያዕቆብን እገድለዋለሁ"ብሎ አሰበ። BSB BSB: Esau held a grudge against Jacob because of the blessing his father had given him. And Esau said in his heart, “The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then I will kill my brother Jacob.”
42 ULB ነገር ግን ርብቃ የዔሳውን ዕቅድ ስለ ሰማች፣ ያዕቆብን ጠርታ እንዲህ አለችው፣ "አድምጠኝ፤ ወንድምህ ዔሳው አንተን በመግደል ሊበቀልህ አስቦአል፤ BSB BSB: When the words of her older son Esau were relayed to Rebekah, she sent for her younger son Jacob and told him, “Look, your brother Esau is consoling himself by plotting to kill you.
43 ULB አሁንም ልጄ ሆይ! የምልህን አድርግ፤ ተነሥተህ በካራን ወደሚገኘው ወደ ወንድሜ ወደ ላባ ሽሽ፤ BSB BSB: So now, my son, obey my voice and flee at once to my brother Laban in Haran.
44 ULB የወንድምህ ቁጣ እስኪበርድ ድረስ ለጥቂት ጊዜ እዚያው ቆይ፤ BSB BSB: Stay with him for a while, until your brother’s fury subsides—
45 ULB ቁጣውም ሲበርድ ያደረግህበትን ነገር ይረሳል፤ ከዚያ በኋላ ሰው ልኬ አስመጣሃለሁ፤ ሁለታችሁም በአንድ ቀን ማጣት አልፈልግም። BSB BSB: until your brother’s rage against you wanes and he forgets what you have done to him. Then I will send for you and bring you back from there. Why should I lose both of you in one day?”
46 ULB ርብቃ ይስሐቅን "ዔሳው ባገባቸው በእነዚህ በሖታውያን ሴቶች ምክንያት መኖሬን ጠላሁት፤ ያዕቆብ ደግሞ ከነዚህ ከሒታውያን ሴቶች አንዲቱ ከገባ ለመኖር ይልቅ ሞቴን እመርጣለሁ"አለችው። BSB BSB: Then Rebekah said to Isaac, “I am weary of my life because of these Hittite women. If Jacob takes a Hittite wife from among them, what good is my life?”
