1 ULB ወንድሞች ሆይ፤ ለአንዳንዶች አድልዎ እያደረጋችሁ የክብር ጌታ የጌታችን አየሱስ ክርስቶስን እምነት እንከተላለን አትበሉ። BSB BSB: My brothers, as you hold out your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, do not show favoritism.
2 ULB የወርቅ ቀለበት ያደረገና የሚያማምሩ ልብሶች የለበሰ ወደ ስብሰባችሁ ሲገባና እንዲሁም አዳፋ ልብሶች የለበሰ ድኻ ቢገባ BSB BSB: Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in shabby clothes also comes in.
3 ULB ትኵረታችሁ የሚያማምሩ ልብሶች የለበሰው ሰው ላይ ይሆንና፣ “እዚህ ደኅና ቦታ ላይ ተቀመጥ” ትሉታላችሁ፤ ድኻውን ግን፣ “እዚያ ቁም” ወይም “ከእግሬ በታች ተቀመጥ” ትሉታላችሁ BSB BSB: If you lavish attention on the man in fine clothes and say, “Here is a seat of honor,” but say to the poor man, “You must stand” or “Sit at my feet,”
4 ULB ታዲያ፣ በመካከላችሁ አድልዎ ማድረጋችሁ አይደለምን፤ ደግሞስ በክፉ ዐሳብ የተያዛችሁ ፈራጆች መሆናችሁ አይደለምን? BSB BSB: have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?
5 ULB የተወደዳችሁ ወንድሞች ስሙ፤ በእምነት ባለ ጸጋ እንዲሆኑና፣ እርሱን ለሚወዱ ቃል የገባላቸውን መንግሥት እንዲወርሱ እግዚአብሔር የዚህ ዓለም ድኾችን አልመረጠምን? BSB BSB: Listen, my beloved brothers: Has not God chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom He promised those who love Him?
6 ULB እናንተ ግን ድኾችን አዋረዳችሁ! የሚጨቁኗችሁ ባለ ጸጎች አይደሉምን? ወደ ፍርድ ቤት የሚጎትቱዋችሁስ እነርሱ አይደሉምን? BSB BSB: But you have dishonored the poor. Is it not the rich who oppress you and drag you into court?
7 ULB የተጠራችሁበትን መልካም ስም የሚሳደቡ ባለ ጸጎቹ አይደሉምን? BSB BSB: Are they not the ones who blaspheme the noble name by which you have been called?
8 ULB ይሁን እንጂ፣ “ባልንጀራህን እንደ ራስህ ውደድ” ተብሎ እንደ ተጻፈው የከበረውን ሕግ ብትፈጽሙ መልካም ታደርጋላችሁ፤ BSB BSB: If you really fulfill the royal law stated in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well.
9 ULB ለአንዳንዶች አድልዎ ብታደርጉ ግን፣ ኃጢአት ትሠራላችሁ፤ እንደ ሕግ ተላላፊዎችም ትቆጠራላችሁ። BSB BSB: But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors.
10 ULB ምክንያቱም ሕጉን የሚፈጽም፣ በአንዱ ግን የሚሰናከል፣ ሕጉን ሁሉ እንደ ተላለፈ ይቆጠራል! BSB BSB: Whoever keeps the whole law but stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.
11 ULB “አታመንዝር” ያለው እግዚአብሔር፣ “አትግደልም” ብሎአልና። ባታመነዝር ሆኖም ግድያ ብትፈጽም፣ የእግዚአብሔርን ሕግ ተላልፈሃል። BSB BSB: For He who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” If you do not commit adultery, but do commit murder, you have become a lawbreaker.
12 ULB ስለዚህ ነጻ በሚያወጣው ሕግ እንደሚፈረድባቸው ሰዎች ተናገሩ፤ ደግሞም ታዘዙ። BSB BSB: Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom.
13 ULB ምክንያቱም ምሕረት በማያደርጉ፣ ምሕረት የሌለበት ፍርድ ይመጣባቸዋል። ምሕረት ፍርድን ያሸንፋል! BSB BSB: For judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment.
15 ULB አንድ ወንድም ወይም እኅት ልብስና የዕለት ምግብ ባይኖራቸው BSB BSB: Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food.
16 ULB ከእናንተ አንዱ፣ “በሰላም ሂዱ፤ አይብረዳችሁ፤ በደንብ ጥገቡ” ቢላቸው፤ ለአካል የሚያስፈልጉ ነገሮችን ግን ባትሰጧቸው፣ ምን ይጠቅማል? BSB BSB: If one of you tells him, “Go in peace; stay warm and well fed,” but does not provide for his physical needs, what good is that?
17 ULB ሥራ የሌለው እምነትም እንዲሁ በራሱ የሞተ ነው። BSB BSB: So too, faith by itself, if it does not result in action, is dead.
18 ULB ምናልባትም አንዱ፣ “አንተ እምነት አለህ እኔ ደግሞ ሥራ አለኝ” ሥራ የሌለው እምነትህን አሳየኝ፤ እኔም እምነቴን በሥራዬ አሳይሃለሁ ይል ይሆናል። BSB BSB: But someone will say, “You have faith and I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.
20 ULB አንተ ሞኝ፣ እምነት ያለ ሥራ ከንቱ መሆኑን ማወቅ ትፈልጋለህ? BSB BSB: O foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is worthless?
21 ULB አባታችን አብርሃም፣ ልጁ ይስሐቅን መሠዊያው ላይ ባቀረበ ጊዜ በሥራ ጸድቆ አልነበረምን? BSB BSB: Was not our father Abraham justified by what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?
22 ULB እምነት በሥራው ታየ፤ በዚያው ሥራ እምነት ዓላማውን ፈጸመ። BSB BSB: You see that his faith was working with his actions, and his faith was perfected by what he did.
23 ULB “አብርሃም እግዚአብሔርን አመነ፤ ጽድቅም ሆኖ ተቆጠረለት” የሚለው የመጽሐፍ ቃል ተፈጸመ። ስለዚህም አብርሃም የእግዚአብሔር ወዳጅ ተባለ። BSB BSB: And the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called a friend of God.
25 ULB በተመሳሳይ ሁኔታ ጋለሞታዪቱ ረዓብ መልእክተኞቹን ተቀብላ በሌላ መንገድ በሰደደቻቸው ጊዜ በሥራ አልጸደቅችምን? BSB BSB: In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute justified by her actions when she welcomed the spies and sent them off on another route?
26 ULB ከመንፈስ የተለዬ አካል ሙት እንደ ሆነ ሁሉ፣ ከሥራ የተለዬ እምነትም የሞተ ነው። BSB BSB: As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.
