1 ULB ኢየሱስ ኢያሪኮ ከተማ ገብቶ እያለፈ ሳለ፣ BSB BSB: Then Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through.
2 ULB ዘኬዎስ የሚባል አንድ የቀራጮች አለቃና ሀብታም ሰው ወዳለበት ስፍራ ደረሰ። BSB BSB: And there was a man named Zacchaeus, a chief tax collector, who was very wealthy.
3 ULB ዘኬዎስ ኢየሱስ የትኛው እንደ ሆነ ለማየት ይሞክር ነበር፣ BSB BSB: He was trying to see who Jesus was, but could not see over the crowd because he was small in stature.
4 ULB ነገር ግን አጭር ስለ ነበረ፣ ከሕዝቡ ብዛት የተነሣ አሻግሮ ማየት አልቻለም ነበር። ስለዚህ ኢየሱስ በዚያ መንገድ ያልፍ ስለነበር፣ ከሕዝቡ ቀድሞ ሮጠና ሊያየው በእንድ ሾላ ዛፍ ላይ ወጣ። BSB BSB: So he ran on ahead and climbed a sycamore tree to see Him, since Jesus was about to pass that way.
5 ULB ኢየሱስ ወደ ስፍራው በደረሰ ጊዜ፣ ቀና ብሎ ተመለከተና፣ “ዘኬዎስ ሆይ፣ ዛሬ ወደ ቤትህ መሄድ እፈልጋለሁና ቶሎ ውረድ” አለው። BSB BSB: When Jesus came to that place, He looked up and said, “Zacchaeus, hurry down, for I must stay at your house today.”
6 ULB ስለዚህ ዘኬዎስ በፍጥነት ወርዶ በደስታ በቤቱ ተቀበለው። BSB BSB: So Zacchaeus hurried down and welcomed Him joyfully.
7 ULB ይህን የተመለከቱት ሰዎች ሁሉ፣ “በኃጢአተኛ ሰው ቤት ገባ” በማለት አጒረመረሙ። BSB BSB: And all who saw this began to grumble, saying, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinful man!”
8 ULB ዘኬዎስ ተነሥቶ ቆመና ጌታን፣ “ጌታ ሆይ፣ የሀብቴን ግማሽ ለድሆች እሰጣለሁ፣ ያታለልሁት ሰው ካለ፣ የወሰድሁበትን አራት ዕጥፍ እመልስለታለሁ” አለው። BSB BSB: But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, half of my possessions I give to the poor, and if I have cheated anyone, I will repay it fourfold.”
9 ULB ኢየሱስ እንዲህ አለው፣ "ዛሬ ድነት ለዚህ ቤት መጥቷል። ምክንያቱም፣ እርሱ ደግሞ የአብርሃም ልጅ ነው። BSB BSB: Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man too is a son of Abraham.
10 ULB የሰው ልጅ የመጣው የጠፉትን ሰዎች ሊፈልግና ሊያድን ነውና” አለ። BSB BSB: For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
11 ULB እነርሱ እነዚህን ነገሮች እንደ ሰሙ፣ ኢየሱስ ወደ ኢየሩሳሌም እየተቃረበ ስለ ነበር ሕዝቡ የእግዚአብሔር መንግሥት ወዲያው የሚገለጥ መሰላቸው። BSB BSB: While the people were listening to this, Jesus proceeded to tell them a parable, because He was near Jerusalem and they thought the kingdom of God would appear imminently.
12 ULB ስለዚህ ኢየሱስ ንግግሩን በምሳሌ በመቀጠል እንዲህ አለ፣ “አንድ መኰንን የመንግሥት ሹመት ተቀብሎ ሊመጣ ወደ ሩቅ አገር ሄዶ ነበር። BSB BSB: So He said, “A man of noble birth went to a distant country to lay claim to his kingship and then return.
13 ULB ከዚያም፣ ከአገልጋዮቹ ዐሥሩን ጠርቶ ዐሥር ምናን ሰጣቸውና፣ “እስክመጣ ድረስ ይህን ነግዱበት” አላቸው። BSB BSB: Beforehand, he called ten of his servants and gave them ten minas. ‘Conduct business with this until I return,’ he said.
14 ULB ነገር ግን የአገሩ ሰዎች ይጠሉት ስለ ነበር፣ 'ይህ ሰው ተመልሶ በእኛ ላይ ገዥ እንዲሆን አንፈልግም' በማለት ተወካዮቻቸውን ከኋላው ላኩበት። BSB BSB: But his subjects hated him and sent a delegation after him to say, ‘We do not want this man to rule over us.’
15 ULB መኰንኑም ሹመቱን ተቀብሎ ሲመለስ፣ ነግደው ያተረፉትን ትርፍ ለመተሳሰብ ገንዘቡን የሰጣቸው አገልጋዮቹ እንዲጠሩለት አዘዘ። BSB BSB: When he returned from procuring his kingship, he summoned the servants to whom he had given the money, to find out what each one had earned.
16 ULB የመጀመሪያው አገልጋይ ወደፊቱ ቀረበና፣ 'ጌታ ሆይ፣ ምናንህ ተጨማሪ ዐሥር ምናን አትርፎልሃል' አለው። BSB BSB: The first servant came forward and said, ‘Master, your mina has produced ten more minas.’
17 ULB ጌታውም፣ “ደግ አድርገሃል፣ አንተ ታታሪ አገልጋይ። በጥቂቱ ስለ ታመንህ፣ በዐሥር ከተሞች ላይ ገዥ ትሆናለህ' አለው። BSB BSB: His master replied, ‘Well done, good servant! Because you have been faithful in a very small matter, you shall have authority over ten cities.’
18 ULB ሁለተኛውም ቀርቦ፣ 'ጌታ ሆይ፣ ምናንህ ዐምስት አትርፏል' አለው። BSB BSB: The second servant came and said, ‘Master, your mina has made five minas.’
19 ULB ጌታውም፣ 'በዐምስት ከተሞች ላይ ገዥ ሁን' አለው። BSB BSB: And to this one he said, ‘You shall have authority over five cities.’
20 ULB ሌላኛውም መጣና፣ 'ጌታ ሆይ፣ በደንብ አድርጌ በጨርቅ ጠቅለዬ ያስቀመጥሁት ምናንህ ይኸውልህ፣ BSB BSB: Then another servant came and said, ‘Master, here is your mina, which I have laid away in a piece of cloth.
21 ULB ይህን ያደረግሁት አንተ ጨካኝ ሰው መሆንህን ስላወቅሁ ፈርቼ ነው። አንተ ያላስቀመጥኸውን የምትጠይቅ ያልዘራኸውን የምታጭድ ነህ' አለው። BSB BSB: For I was afraid of you, because you are a harsh man. You withdraw what you did not deposit and reap what you did not sow.’
22 ULB ጌታውም፣ እንዲህ አለው፤ 'አንተ ክፉ አገልጋይ፣ በአፍህ ቃል እፈርድብሃለሁ። ካላስቀመጥሁበት የምፈልግ፣ ካልዘራሁበት የማጭድ ጨካኝ ሰው መሆኔን ያወቅህ ከሆነ፣ BSB BSB: His master replied, ‘You wicked servant, I will judge you by your own words. So you knew that I am a harsh man, withdrawing what I did not deposit and reaping what I did not sow?
23 ULB ታዲያ ስመለስ ገንዘቤን ከነትርፉ እንዳገኝ ለምን በባንክ አላስቀመጥኸውም?” BSB BSB: Why then did you not deposit my money in the bank, and upon my return I could have collected it with interest?’
24 ULB ከዚያም ጌታው በዚያ ለቆሙት ሰዎች፣ “ምናኑን ውሰዱበት፣ ዐሥር ላለውም ጨምሩለት' አላቸው፤ BSB BSB: Then he told those standing by, ‘Take the mina from him and give it to the one who has ten minas.’
25 ULB እነርሱም፣ 'ጌታ ሆይ፣ አስር ምናን አለው እኮ' አሉት። BSB BSB: ‘Master,’ they said, ‘he already has ten!’
26 ULB ጌትየውም፣ 'ላለው ይጨምርለታል፣ ከሌለው ያው ያለው እንኳ ይወሰድበታል። BSB BSB: He replied, ‘I tell you that everyone who has will be given more; but the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.
27 ULB በእነርሱ ላይ ገዥ እንዳልሆን የተቃወሙትን እነዚህን ጠላቶቼን ግን አምጡና በፊቴ ግደሏቸው' አለ። BSB BSB: And these enemies of mine who were unwilling for me to rule over them, bring them here and slay them in front of me.’”
28 ULB ኢየሱስ እነዚህን ነገሮች ከተናገረ በኋላ፣ ፊቱን ወደ ኢየሩሳሌም በማቅናት መንገዱን ቀጠለ። BSB BSB: After Jesus had said this, He went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.
29 ULB ደብረ ዘይት በሚባለው ተራራ አጠገብ ወደሚገኝ ቤተ ፋጌና ቢታንያ በተቃረበ ጊዜ ሁለቱን ደቀ መዛሙርቱን BSB BSB: As He approached Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, He sent out two of His disciples,
30 ULB እንዲህ ብሎ ላካቸው፤ "ወደሚቀጥለው መንደር ሂዱ። ስትገቡ፣ ማንም ያልተቀመጠበትን አንድ የአህያ ውርንጫ ታስሮ ታገኛላችሁ። ፍቱትና አምጡልኝ። BSB BSB: saying, “Go into the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, on which no one has ever sat. Untie it and bring it here.
31 ULB ማንም፣ 'ለምን ትፈቱታላችሁ?' ብሎ ቢጠይቃችሁ፣ 'ለጌታ ያስፈልገዋል' በሉት" አላቸው። BSB BSB: If anyone asks, ‘Why are you untying it?’ tell him, ‘The Lord needs it.’”
32 ULB የተላኩትም ወደ ስፍራው በደረሱ ጊዜ፣ ኢየሱስ እንደ ነገራቸው፣ የአህያውን ውርንጫ ታስሮ አገኙት። BSB BSB: So those who were sent went out and found it just as Jesus had told them.
33 ULB ውርንጫውን እየፈቱ እያለ ባለቤቶቹ፣ 'ውርንጫውን ለምን ትፈቱታላችሁ?' አሉ። BSB BSB: As they were untying the colt, its owners asked, “Why are you untying the colt?”
34 ULB እነርሱም፣ “ለጌታ ያስፈልገዋል” ብለው መለሱለት። BSB BSB: “The Lord needs it,” they answered.
35 ULB ወደ ኢየሱስ አመጡትና ልብሳቸውን በውርንጫው ጀርባ ላይ አንጥፈው ኢየሱስ እንዲቀመጥበት አደረጉ። BSB BSB: Then they led the colt to Jesus, threw their cloaks over it, and put Jesus on it.
36 ULB ኢየሱስ በሚሄድበት ጊዜ፣ ከፊቱ ባለው መንገድ ላይ ልብሶቻቸውን ያነጥፉለት ነበር። BSB BSB: As He rode along, the people spread their cloaks on the road.
37 ULB ከደብረ ዘይት ተራራ ቁልቁል ወደሚወስደው መንገድ በቀረበ ጊዜ፣ ቊጥራቸው ብዙ የሆነ ደቀ መዛሙርት፣ ስላዩአቸው ድንቅ ነገሮች ሁሉ ደስ እያላቸው፣ “በጌታ ስም የሚመጣ ንጉሥ የተባረከ ነው! በሰማይ ሰላም፣ BSB BSB: And as He approached the descent from the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of disciples began to praise God joyfully in a loud voice for all the miracles they had seen:
38 ULB ክብርም በአርያም ይሁንለት!” እያሉ በከፍተኛ ድምፅ እግዚአብሔርን አመሰገኑ። BSB BSB: “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
39 ULB በሕዝቡ መካከል የነበሩ አንዳንድ ፈሪሳውያን፣ “መምህር ሆይ፣ ደቀ መዛሙርትህን ገሥጻቸው” አሉ። BSB BSB: But some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples!”
40 ULB ኢየሱስም፣ “ልንገራችሁ፣ እነዚህ ዝም ቢሉ ድንጋዮችም እንኳ ይጮኻሉ” አላቸው። BSB BSB: “I tell you,” He answered, “if they remain silent, the very stones will cry out.”
41 ULB ኢየሱስ ወደ ከተማይቱ በተቃረበ ጊዜ እንዲህ በማለት አለቀሰላት፤ BSB BSB: As Jesus approached Jerusalem and saw the city, He wept over it
42 ULB “ለአንቺ ሰላም የሚያመጣልሽን ነገር ምነው ዛሬ ባወቅሽ ኖሮ! አሁን ግን ከዐይንሽ ተሰውሮብሻል። BSB BSB: and said, “If only you had known on this day what would bring you peace! But now it is hidden from your eyes.
43 ULB ጠላቶችሽ ዙሪያሽን ቅጥር ሠርተው የሚከቡሽና ከሁሉም አቅጣጫ የሚያስጨንቁሽ ጊዜያት ይመጣሉ። BSB BSB: For the days will come upon you when your enemies will barricade you and surround you and hem you in on every side.
44 ULB አንቺንና ልጆችሽንም በምድር ላይ ይፈጠፍጣሉ። እነርሱም ድንጋይ በድንጋይ ላይ እንደተነባበረ አይተዉም፣ ምክንያቱም እግዚአብሔር ሊያድንሽ መፈለጉን አላወቅሽምና።” BSB BSB: They will level you to the ground—you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation from God.”
45 ULB ኢየሱስ ወደ ቤተ መቅደስ ገባና በዚያ ይሸጡ የነበሩትን ያባርራቸው ጀመር፣ BSB BSB: Then Jesus entered the temple courts and began to drive out those who were selling there.
46 ULB ከዚያም፣ “የአባቴ ቤት 'የጸሎት ቤት ይሆናል' ተብሎ ተጽፏል፣ እናንተ ግን የወንበዴዎች መሸሸጊያ አደረጋችሁት” አለ። BSB BSB: He declared to them, “It is written: ‘My house will be a house of prayer.’ But you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’”
47 ULB ስለዚህ ኢየሱስ በየዕለቱ በቤተ መቅደስ ያስተምር ነበር። ታዲያ የካህናት አለቆች፣ የሕግ መምህራንና የሕዝቡ መሪዎች ሊገድሉት ፈለጉ። BSB BSB: Jesus was teaching at the temple every day, but the chief priests, scribes, and leaders of the people were intent on killing Him.
48 ULB ነገር ግን ሕዝቡ ከልብ ያደምጡት ስለ ነበር መንገድ አላገኙም። BSB BSB: Yet they could not find a way to do so, because all the people hung on His words.
