1. 1ULBከዚያም ኢየሱስ ለሕዝቡና ለደቀ መዛሙርቱ እንዲህ ሲል ተናገረ፤BSBBSB: Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to His disciples:
2. 2ULB"የአይሁድ የሕግ መምህራንና ፈሪሳውያን በሙሴ ወንበር ተቀምጠዋል፡፡BSBBSB: “The scribes and Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat.
3. 3ULBስለዚህ የሚያዝዙአችሁን ሁሉ አድርጉ፤ አክብሩትም፡፡ እነርሱ የሚያደርጉትን ግን አታደርጉ፤ ምክንያቱም እነርሱ ራሳቸው የሚናገሩትን አያደርጉትም፡፡BSBBSB: So practice and observe everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.
4. 4ULBለመሸከም የሚያስቸግር ከባድ ሸክም አንሥተው በሰዎች ትከሻ ላይ ይጭናሉ፡፡ እነርሱ ራሳቸው ግን መሸከም ቀርቶ በጣታቸው ሊያነሡት እንኳ አይፈልጉም፡፡BSBBSB: They tie up heavy, burdensome loads and lay them on men’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.
5. 5ULBሥራቸውን ሁሉ የሚያደርጉት በሰዎች ለመታየት ነው፤ አሸንክታባቸውን ያሰፋሉ፤ የልብሳቸውንም ዘርፍ ያስረዝማሉ፡፡BSBBSB: All their deeds are done for men to see. They broaden their phylacteries and lengthen their tassels.
6. 6ULBግብዣ ላይ የከበሬታ ቦታዎችንና በምኵራብ ውስጥ የተለየ መቀመጫ እንዲሰጣቸው ይፈልጋሉ፤BSBBSB: They love the places of honor at banquets, the chief seats in the synagogues,
7. 7ULBበገበያ ቦታ ሰዎች የተለየ ክብር እንዲሰጧቸውና፣ 'መምህር ሆይ› በማለት እንዲጠሩአቸው ይፈልጋሉ፡፡BSBBSB: the greetings in the marketplaces, and the title of ‘Rabbi’ by which they are addressed.
8. 8ULBእናንተ ግን ያላችሁ አንድ መምህር ብቻ ስለሆነና ሁላችሁም ወንድማማች ስለሆናችሁ ‹መምህር› ተብላችሁ አትጠሩ፡፡BSBBSB: But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers.
9. 9ULBበምድር ላይ ማንንም አባት ብላችሁ አትጥሩ፤ ምክንያቱም በሰማይ የሚኖር አንድ አባት ብቻ አላችሁ፡፡BSBBSB: And do not call anyone on earth your father, for you have one Father, who is in heaven.
10. 10ULB‹ሊቅም› ተብላችሁ አትጠሩ፤ ምክንያቱም ያላችሁ አንድ ሊቅ ብቻ ነው፤ እርሱም ክርስቶስ ነው፡፡BSBBSB: Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Christ.
11. 11ULBከእናንተ መካከል ታላቅ የሆነው አገልጋያችሁ ይሁን፡፡BSBBSB: The greatest among you shall be your servant.
12. 12ULBራሱን ከፍ የሚያደርግ ዝቅ ይላል፤ ራሱን ዝቅ የሚያደርግ ከፍ ይላል፡፡BSBBSB: For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
13. 13ULBእናንተ፣ ግብዞች የአይሁድ የሕግ መምህራንና ፈሪሳውያን ግን ወዮላችሁ! በሰዎች ፊት መንግሥተ ሰማይን ትዘጋላችሁ፡፡ እናንተ ራሳችሁ አትገቡበትም፤ የሚገቡትንም እንዳይገቡ ትከለክላላችሁ፡፡BSBBSB: Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let in those who wish to enter.
14. 14ULBእናንተ ግብዞች የአይሁድ የሕግ መምህራንና ፈሪሳውያን ለታይታ ረጅም ጸሎታችሁን በማድረግ የመበለቶችን ቤት ስለምትበሉ ወዮላችሁ! ስለዚህ የበለጠውን ፍርድ ትቀበላላችሁ፡፡ እናንተ ግብዞች የአይሁድ ሕግ መምህራንና ፈሪሳውያን ወዮላችሁ!BSBBSB: Not in the BSB

15. 15ULBአንድን ሰው ተከታያችሁ ለማድረግ በባሕርና በምድር ትሄዳላችሁ፤ ተከታያችሁ ካደረጋችሁት በኋላ፣ ከእናንተ እጥፍ የሚከፋ የገሃነም ልጅ ታደርጉታላችሁ፡፡BSBBSB: Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You traverse land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.
16. 16ULBእናንተ ዐይነ ስውራን መሪዎች ወዮላችሁ፤ አንድ ሰው 'በቤተ መቅደሱ ቢምል ምንም ማለት አይደለም፤ ቤተ መቅደሱ ውስጥ ባለው ወርቅ ቢምል ግን፣ በመሐላው ይጠመዳል' ትላላችሁ፡፡BSBBSB: Woe to you, blind guides! You say, ‘If anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.’
17. 17ULBእናንተ የታወራችሁ ሞኞች፣ ለመሆኑ የትኛው ይበልጣል ወርቁ ወይስ ወርቁን የሚቀድሰው ቤተ መቅደሱ?BSBBSB: You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes it sacred?
18. 18ULBአንድ ሰው በመሠዊያው ቢምል ምንም ማለት አይደለም፤ መሠዊያው ላይ ባለው ስጦታ ቢምል ግን በመሐላው ይጠመዳል ትላላችሁ፡፡BSBBSB: And you say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gift on it, he is bound by his oath.’
19. 19ULBእናንተ ዕውሮች፤ ለመሆኑ የትኛው ይበልጣል ስጦታው ወይስ ስጦታውን የሚቀድሰው መሠዊያ?BSBBSB: You blind men! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes it sacred?
20. 20ULBስለዚህ በመሠዊያው የሚምል በመሠዊያውና እርሱ ላይ ባሉ ነገሮች ሁሉ ይምላል፡፡BSBBSB: So then, he who swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it.
21. 21ULBበቤተ መቅደሱ የሚምል በቤተ መቅደስና እርሱ ውስጥ በሚኖረው ይምላል፡፡BSBBSB: And he who swears by the temple swears by it and by the One who dwells in it.
22. 22ULBበሰማይ የሚምል በእግዚአብሔር ዙፋንና በእርሱ ላይ በተቀመጠው ይምላል፡፡BSBBSB: And he who swears by heaven swears by God’s throne and by the One who sits on it.
23. 23ULBእናንተ ግብዞች የአይሁድ የሕግ መምህራንና ፈሪሳውያን ወዮላችሁ፣ ከአዝሙድ፣ ከእንስላልና ከከሙን ዐሥራት ብታወጡም፣ የሕጉን ዋና ዋና ነገሮች ማለትም ፍትሕን፣ ምሕረትንና እምነትን ሥራ ላይ አታውሉም፡፡ ሌላውን ችላ ሳትሉ እነዚህን መፈጸም ነበረባችሁ፡፡BSBBSB: Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You pay tithes of mint, dill, and cumin. But you have disregarded the weightier matters of the law: justice, mercy, and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.
24. 24ULBእናንተ ዐይነ ስውራን መሪዎች፣ ትንኝን አውጥታችሁ ትጥላላችሁ፤ ግመልን ግን ትውጣላችሁ!BSBBSB: You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.
25. 25ULBእናንተ ግብዞች የአይሁድ የሕግ መምህራንና ፈሪሳውያን ወዮላችሁ! የጽዋውንና የሳሕኑን ውጫዊ ክፍል ታጠራላችህ፤ ውስጡ ግን ቅሚያና ስስት ሞልቶበታል፡፡BSBBSB: Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.
26. 26ULBአንተ ዕውር ፈሪሳዊ፣ ውጫዊ አካሉም ንጹሕ እንዲሆን በመጀመሪያ የጽዋውንና የሳሕኑን ውስጥ አጽዳ፡፡BSBBSB: Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, so that the outside may become clean as well.
27. 27ULBእናንተ ግብዞች የአይሁድ የሕግ መምህራንና ፈሪሳውያን ወዮላችሁ! ከውጭ ሲያዩት እንደሚያምር፣ ውስጡ ግን የሞቱ ሰዎች አጥንትና ርኵሰት እንደ ሞላበት መቃብር ናችሁ፡፡BSBBSB: Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men’s bones and every kind of impurity.
28. 28ULBበተመሳሳይ መንገድ እናንተም ከውጭ ለሰዎች ጻድቃን ትመስላላችሁ፤ ውስጣችሁ ግን ግብዝነትና ርኲሰት ሞልቶበታል፡፡BSBBSB: In the same way, on the outside you appear to be righteous, but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.
29. 29ULBእናንተ ግብዞች የአይሁድ የሕግ መምህራንና ፈሪሳውያን ወዮላችሁ! የነቢያትን መቃብር ስለምትሠሩ፣ የጻድቃንን መቃብር ስለምታስጌጡ፣BSBBSB: Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the monuments of the righteous.
30. 30ULBበአባቶቻችን ዘመን ኖረን ቢሆን ኖሮ፣ የነቢያትን ደም በማፍሰስ አንተባበራቸውም ነበር ትላላችሁ፡፡BSBBSB: And you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partners with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’
31. 31ULBስለሆነም የነቢያት ገዳይ ልጆች መሆናችሁን እናንተ ራሳችሁ ትመሰክራላችሁ፡፡BSBBSB: So you testify against yourselves that you are the sons of those who murdered the prophets.
32. 32ULBእናንተ ራሳችሁም አባቶቻችሁ የጀመሩትን ኃጢአት ትፈጽማላችሁ፡፡BSBBSB: Fill up, then, the measure of the sin of your fathers.
33. 33ULBእናንተ እባቦች፣ እናንተ የእፉኝት ልጆች፣ ከገሃነም ፍርድ እንዴት ታመልጣላችሁ?BSBBSB: You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape the sentence of hell?
34. 34ULBስለዚህ ነቢያትን፣ አስተዋይ ሰዎችንና የአይሁድ ሕግ መምህራንን ወደ እናንተ እልካለሁ፡፡ አንዳንዶቹን ትገድላላችሁ፣ ትሰቅላላችሁ፤ ሌሎቹን በምኵራቦቻችሁ ትገርፋላችሁ፣ ከከተማ ወደ ከተማ ታሳድዳላችሁ፡፡BSBBSB: Because of this, I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify, and others you will flog in your synagogues and persecute from town to town.
35. 35ULBከጻድቁ ከአቤል አንሥቶ በቤተ መቅደሱና በመሠዊያው መካካል እስከ ገደላችሁት የበራክዩ ልጅ ዘካርያስ ደም ድረስ፣ በምድር ላይ በፈሰሰው ጻድቃን ደም ሁሉ ትጠየቃላችሁ፡፡BSBBSB: And so upon you will come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.
36. 36ULBእውነት እላችኋለሁ፤ እነዚህ ነገሮች ሁሉ በዚህ ትውልድ ላይ ይሆናሉ፡፡BSBBSB: Truly I tell you, all these things will come upon this generation.
37. 37ULBኢየሩሳሌም፣ ኢየሩሳሌም ሆይ፣ አንቺ ነቢያትን የምትገድዪ ወደ አንቺ የተላኩትን በድንጋይ የምትወግሪ! ዶሮ ጫጩቶችዋን በክንፎቿ ሥር እንደምትሰበስብ እኔም ልጆችሽን መሰብሰበ ብዙ ጊዜ ፈልጌ ነበር፤ እናንተ ግን አልፈለጋችሁም!BSBBSB: O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those sent to her, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were unwilling!
38. 38ULBስለሆነም ቤታችሁ ወና ሆኖ ይቀራል፡፡BSBBSB: Look, your house is left to you desolate.
39. 39ULB'በጌታ ስም የሚመጣ የተባረከ ነው' እስክትሉ ድረስ ከአሁን ጀምሮ አታዩኝም እላችኋለሁ፡፡BSBBSB: For I tell you that you will not see Me again until you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.’”
