1 ULB ጥል ባለበት ግብዛ ከሞላበት ቤት ይልቅ ሰላም ባለበት ደረቅ ቁራሽ ዳቦ ይሻላል፡፡ BSB BSB: Better a dry morsel in quietness than a house full of feasting with strife.
2 ULB ጥበበኛ ባርያ አስነዋሪ ስራ የሚሰራውን ልጅ ይገዛል፣ ከወንድማማቾችም መካከል እንደ አንዱ ውርስን ይካፈላል፡፡ BSB BSB: A wise servant will rule over a disgraceful son and share his inheritance as one of the brothers.
3 ULB ማቅለጫ ለብር ነው እቶንም ለወርቅ ነው፣ እግዚአብሔር ግን ልብን ያነጥራል፡፡ BSB BSB: A crucible for silver and a furnace for gold, but the LORD is the tester of hearts.
4 ULB ክፋትን የሚያደርግ ሰው ክፋትን የሚናገሩ ሰዎች ምክር ይሰማል፤ ውሸታምም ክፉ ነገሮች የሚያወሩ ሰዎችን ያዳምጣል፡፡ BSB BSB: A wicked man listens to evil lips; a liar gives ear to a destructive tongue.
5 ULB በድሃ የሚቀልድ ሰው ፈጣሪውን ይሰድባል፣ በጥፋትም የሚደሰት ከቅጣት አያመልጥም፡፡ BSB BSB: He who mocks the poor insults their Maker; whoever gloats over calamity will not go unpunished.
6 ULB የልጅ ልጆች ለሽማግሌዎች ዘውድ ናቸው፣ ወላጆችም ለልጆቻቸው ክብር ናቸው፡፡ BSB BSB: Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of a son is his father.
7 ULB መልካም ንግግር ለሞኝ ሰው አይስማማውም፤ ውሸታም ከንፈሮችም ለንጉሳውያን አይመቹም፡፡ BSB BSB: Eloquent words are unfit for a fool; how much worse are lying lips to a ruler!
8 ULB ጉቦ ለሰጪው እንደ አስማት ድንጋይ ነው፤ በሄደበት ስፍራ ሁሉ ስኬትን ያገኛል፡፡ BSB BSB: A bribe is a charm to its giver; wherever he turns, he succeeds.
9 ULB በደልን የሚሸፍን ፍቅርን ይፈልጋል፣ ነገርን የሚደጋግም ግን የቅርብ ወዳጆችን ይለያያል፡፡ BSB BSB: Whoever conceals an offense promotes love, but he who brings it up separates friends.
10 ULB መቶ ግርፋት ወደ ሞኝ ጠልቆ ከሚገባ ይልቅ ተግሳጽ ወደ አስተዋይ ሰው ጠልቆ ይገባል፡፡ BSB BSB: A rebuke cuts into a man of discernment deeper than a hundred lashes cut into a fool.
11 ULB ክፉ ሰው አመጽን ይፈልጋል፣ ጨካኝ መልዕክተኛም ወደ እርሱ ይላክበታል፡፡ BSB BSB: An evil man seeks only rebellion; a cruel messenger will be sent against him.
12 ULB ሞኝን በሞኝነቱ ከመገናኘት ይልቅ ግልገሎቿ የተነጠቀችን ድብ መገናኘት ይሻላል፡፡ BSB BSB: It is better to meet a bear robbed of her cubs than a fool in his folly.
13 ULB አንድ ሰው በበጎ ፈንታ ክፋትን ሲመልስ፣ ክፋት ከቤቱ ፈጽሞ አይርቅም፡፡ BSB BSB: If anyone returns evil for good, evil will never leave his house.
14 ULB የጠብ መጀመርያ በሁሉም ስፍራ ውኃ እንደሚለቅ ሰው ነው፣ ስለዚህ ከመበርታቱ በፊት ከግጭት ራቅ፡፡ BSB BSB: To start a quarrel is to release a flood; so abandon the dispute before it breaks out.
15 ULB ክፉ ሰዎችን ነጻ የሚለቅም ሆነ ጽድቅን የሚያደርጉትን ደግሞ የሚኮንን ማንኛውም ሰው፣ ሁለቱም በእግዚአብሔር ዘንድ የተጠሉ ናቸው፡፡ BSB BSB: Acquitting the guilty and condemning the righteous—both are detestable to the LORD.
16 ULB ሞኝ ጥበብን ለመማር የማይችል ሆኖ ሳለ፣ ጥበብን ለመማር ለምን ገንዘብ ይከፍላል? BSB BSB: Why should the fool have money in his hand with no intention of buying wisdom?
17 ULB ጓደኛ በዘመኑ ሁሉ ወዳጅ ነው፣ ወንድምም ለክፉ ቀን ይወለዳል፡፡ BSB BSB: A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
18 ULB አእምሮ የጎደለው ሰው ቃል በመግባት ግዴታ ውስጥ ይገባል፣ ለጎረቤቱም ብድር ዋስ ይሆናል፡፡ BSB BSB: A man lacking judgment strikes hands in pledge and puts up security for his neighbor.
19 ULB ጠብ የሚወድ ኃጢአትን ይወዳል፤ መግቢያ በሩን እጅግ ከፍ አድርጎ የሚሰራ አጥንቶች እንዲሰበሩ ያደርጋል፡፡ BSB BSB: He who loves transgression loves strife; he who builds his gate high invites destruction.
20 ULB ጠማማ ልብ ያለው ሰው አንዳችም መልካም ነገር አያገኝም፤ ጠማማ ምላስ ያለውም ወደ መከራ ይወድቃል፡፡ BSB BSB: The one with a perverse heart finds no good, and he whose tongue is deceitful falls into trouble.
21 ULB ሞኝን የወለደ ሐዘንን ወደራሱ ያመጣል፣ የሞኝም አባት ደስታን አያገኝም፡፡ BSB BSB: A man fathers a fool to his own grief; the father of a fool has no joy.
22 ULB ደስተኛ ልብ ጥሩ መድሃኒት ነው፣ የተሰበረ መንፈስ ግን አጥንትን ያደርቃል፡፡ BSB BSB: A joyful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.
23 ULB ክፉ ሰው የፍትህን መንገድ ለማጣመም በሚስጥር ጉቦን ይቀበላል፡፡ BSB BSB: A wicked man takes a covert bribe to subvert the course of justice.
24 ULB አስተዋይ ሰው ፊቱን ወደ ጥበብ ያዘነብላል፣ የሞኝ አይኖች ግን ወደ ምድር ዳርቻ ያዘነብላሉ፡፡ BSB BSB: Wisdom is the focus of the discerning, but the eyes of a fool wander to the ends of the earth.
25 ULB ሞኝ ልጅ ለአባቱ ሐዘን ነው፣ ለወለደችውም እናቱ ምሬትን ያመጣል፡፡ BSB BSB: A foolish son brings grief to his father and bitterness to her who bore him.
26 ULB ጽድቅ የሚያደርግን ሰው መቅጣት በፍጹም መልካም አይደለም፤ በሐቀኝነት የሚሄዱትን የተከበሩ ሰዎችን መግረፍም መልካም አይደለም፡፡ BSB BSB: It is surely not good to punish the innocent or to flog a noble for his honesty.
27 ULB እውቀት ያለው ሰው ጥቂት ቃላትን ይናገራል፣ አስተዋይ ሰውም ለቁጣ የዘገየ ነው፡፡ BSB BSB: A man of knowledge restrains his words, and a man of understanding maintains a calm spirit.
28 ULB ሞኝ እንኳ ዝም ሲል ጥበበኛ እንደሆነ ይታሰባል፤ አፉንም ዘግቶ ዝም ሲል፣ እንደ ምሁር ይቆጠራል፡፡ BSB BSB: Even a fool is considered wise if he keeps silent, and discerning when he holds his tongue.
