1 ULB ከብዙ ሐብት ይልቅ ጥሩ ስም ይመረጣል፣ ሞገስም ከብርና ከወርቅ ይበልጣል፡፡ BSB BSB: A good name is more desirable than great riches; favor is better than silver and gold.
2 ULB ሃብታምና ድሃ ሰዎች የሚጋሩት አንድ ነገር አለ፤ ይህም እግዚአብሔር የሁሉም ፈጣሪ መሆኑ ነው፡ BSB BSB: The rich and the poor have this in common: The LORD is Maker of them all.
3 ULB ጠንቃቃ ሰው ችግር ሲያይ ራሱን ይሸሽጋል፣ አላዋቂዎች ግን በዚያው ገፍተው ይሄዳሉ በሱም ምክንያት ይጎዳሉ፡፡ BSB BSB: The prudent see danger and take cover, but the simple keep going and suffer the consequences.
4 ULB የትህትናና እግዚአብሔርን የመፍራት ሽልማት ባለጠግነት፣ ክብርና ሕይወት ነው፡፡ BSB BSB: The rewards of humility and the fear of the LORD are wealth and honor and life.
5 ULB እሾህና አሜኬላ በጠማማ ሰው መንገድ ላይ ይገኛሉ፤ ሕይወቱን የሚጠብቅም ከእነርሱ ይርቃል፡፡ BSB BSB: Thorns and snares lie on the path of the perverse; he who guards his soul stays far from them.
6 ULB ልጅን የሚሄድበትን መንገድ አስተምረው፣ በሸመገለም ጊዜ ከነገርከው መንገድ ፈቀቅ አይልም፡፡ BSB BSB: Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
7 ULB ባለጠጎች ድሆችን ይገዛሉ፣ ተበዳሪም ለአበዳሪው ባርያ ነው፡፡ BSB BSB: The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender.
8 ULB ክፋትን የሚዘራ መከራን ያጭዳል፣ የቁጣውም በትር አይጠቅመውም፡፡ BSB BSB: He who sows injustice will reap disaster, and the rod of his fury will be destroyed.
9 ULB ቸር አይኖች ያሉት ሰው ይባረካል፣ እንጀራውን ከድሆች ጋር ይካፈላልና፡፡ BSB BSB: A generous man will be blessed, for he shares his bread with the poor.
10 ULB ፌዘኛን ከአንተ አርቀው፣ ጠብም ከአንተ ይርቃል፤ ግጭትና ስድብም ይቆማሉ፡፡ BSB BSB: Drive out the mocker, and conflict will depart; even quarreling and insults will cease.
11 ULB ንጹህ ልብ የሚወድድና ንግግሩም ሞገስ ያለው ሰው፣ ንጉስ ጓደኛው ይሆናል፡፡ BSB BSB: He who loves a pure heart and gracious lips will have the king for a friend.
12 ULB የእግዚአብሔር ዓይኖች እውቀትን ይከታተላሉ፣ የከዳተኞችን ቃሎች ግን ይገለብጣል፡፡ BSB BSB: The LORD’s eyes keep watch over knowledge, but He frustrates the words of the faithless.
13 ULB ሰነፍ ሰው “አንበሳ በመንገድ ላይ አለ! በውጪ ላይ እገደላለሁ” ይላል፡፡ BSB BSB: The slacker says, “There is a lion outside! I will be slain in the streets!”
14 ULB የአመንዝራ ሴት አፍ ጥልቅ ጉድጓድ ነው፤ ወደ እርሱም በሚወድቅ ሰው ሁሉ የእግዚአብሔር ቁጣ በእርሱ ላይ ይሆናል፡፡ BSB BSB: The mouth of an adulteress is a deep pit; he who is under the wrath of the LORD will fall into it.
15 ULB ሞኝነት በሕጻን ልብ ላይ ታስሯል፣ የስርዓት በትር ግን ከእርሱ ያርቀዋል፡፡ BSB BSB: Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline drives it far from him.
16 ULB ሀብቱን ለማካበት ወይም ለሀብታሞች ለመስጠት ሲል ድሆችን የሚያስጨንቅ፣ ወደ ድህነት ይመጣል፡፡ BSB BSB: Oppressing the poor to enrich oneself or giving gifts to the rich will surely lead to poverty.
17 ULB የጠቢብን ቃላት ልብ በል አስተውለህም ስማ፣ ልብህንም ወደ ከእውቀቴ አዘንብል፣ BSB BSB: Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise—apply your mind to my knowledge—
18 ULB በውስጥህ ብትጠብቃቸውና ሁሉም በከንፈሮችህ ላይ ዝግጁ ቢሆኑ ለአንተ ደስ ያሰኙሃልና፡፡ BSB BSB: for it is pleasing when you keep them within you and they are constantly on your lips.
19 ULB እምነትህ በእግዚአብሔር ላይ ይሆን ዘንድ፣ እነዚህን ለአንተ ዛሬ አስተምርሃለሁ፣ ለአንተም ቢሆን አስተምርሃለሁ፡፡ BSB BSB: So that your trust may be in the LORD, I instruct you today—yes, you.
20 ULB ሰላሳ የተግሳጽና የእውቀት ቃሎችን ለአንተ አልጻፍኩልህምን፣ BSB BSB: Have I not written for you thirty sayings about counsel and knowledge,
21 ULB በእነዚህ ታማኝ ቃሎች እውነትን አስተምርህ ዘንድ፣ አንተም ለላኩህ ታማኝ መልስ ትሰጥ ዘንድ? BSB BSB: to show you true and reliable words, that you may soundly answer those who sent you?
22 ULB ድሃ በመሆኑ ምክንያት ድሃ ሰው አትዝረፍ፣ ችግረኛውንም በበር ላይ አትግፋው፣ BSB BSB: Do not rob a poor man because he is poor, and do not crush the afflicted at the gate,
23 ULB እግዚአብሔር ለእነርሱ ይፈርድላቸዋልና፣ የዘረፏቸውንም ሰዎች ሕይወት እርሱ ይነጥቃል፡፡ BSB BSB: for the LORD will take up their case and will plunder those who rob them.
24 ULB ግልፍተኛ ሰውን ጓደኛ አታድርግ፣ ቁጣም ካለበት ሰው ጋር አብረህ አትሂድ፣ BSB BSB: Do not make friends with an angry man, and do not associate with a hot-tempered man,
25 ULB አለበለዚያ መንገዱን ትማራለህ፣ ራስህንም በወጥመድ ታጠላልፋለህ፡፡ BSB BSB: or you may learn his ways and entangle yourself in a snare.
26 ULB ገንዘብን በተመለከተ ግዴታ የሚያስገባ ውል የምትሰጥ አትሁን፣ ለሌሎችም ብድር ዋስ አትሁን፡፡ BSB BSB: Do not be one who gives pledges, who puts up security for debts.
27 ULB መክፈል ካልቻልህ፣ ያንን ሰው አልጋህን ከስርህ ከመውሰድ ሊያቆመው የሚችል ምን ነገር አለ? BSB BSB: If you have nothing with which to pay, why should your bed be taken from under you?
28 ULB አባቶችህ ያስቀመጡትን የጥንቱን የድንበር የምልክት ድንጋይ አታንሳ፡፡ BSB BSB: Do not move an ancient boundary stone which your fathers have placed.
29 ULB በስራው ስልጡን የሆነውን ሰው አይተሃልን? በነገስታት ፊት ይቆማል፤ በተራ ሰዎች ፊትም አይቆምም፡፡ BSB BSB: Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will be stationed in the presence of kings; he will not stand before obscure men.
