3 ULB পরেরদিন অস্দোদের লোকেরা খুব ভোরে উঠে দেখল, সদাপ্রভুর সিন্দুকের সামনে দাগোন মাটিতে উপুড় হয়ে পড়ে আছে; তাতে তারা দাগোনকে তুলে নিয়ে আবার তার জায়গায় রাখল। BSB BSB: When the people of Ashdod got up early the next morning, there was Dagon, fallen on his face before the ark of the LORD. So they took Dagon and returned him to his place.
4 ULB তার পরের দিনও লোকেরা খুব ভোরে উঠে দেখল, সদাপ্রভুর সিন্দুকের সামনে দাগোন মাটিতে উপুড় হয়ে পড়ে আছে এবং চৌকাঠের উপর দাগোনের মাথা ও দুই হাত ভেঙে পড়ে আছে, শুধু দেহের বাকী অংশটুকু আস্ত আছে। BSB BSB: But when they got up early the next morning, there was Dagon, fallen on his face before the ark of the LORD, with his head and his hands broken off and lying on the threshold. Only the torso remained.
5 ULB এইজন্য দাগোনের পুরোহিত এবং আর যত লোক দাগোনের মন্দিরে ঢোকে, তাদের মধ্যে আজ পর্যন্ত কেউই অস্দোদে অবস্থিত দাগোনের চৌকাঠের উপর পা দেয় না। BSB BSB: That is why, to this day, the priests of Dagon and all who enter the temple of Dagon in Ashdod do not step on the threshold.
6 ULB আর অস্দোদীয়দের উপরে সদাপ্রভুর হাত ভারী হল এবং তিনি তাদেরকে ধ্বংস করলেন, অস্দোদের ও আশেপাশের লোকদেরকে ফোড়ার মাধ্যমে আঘাত করলেন। BSB BSB: Now the hand of the LORD was heavy on the people of Ashdod and its vicinity, ravaging them and afflicting them with tumors.
7 ULB পরে অস্দোদীয়রা এইরকম দেখে বলল, “ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বরের সিন্দুক আমাদের কাছে থাকবে না; কারণ আমাদের ও আমাদের দেবতা দাগোনের উপরে তাঁর হাত যন্ত্রণাদায়ক হয়ে উঠেছে।” BSB BSB: And when the men of Ashdod saw what was happening, they said, “The ark of the God of Israel must not stay here with us, because His hand is heavy upon us and upon our god Dagon.”
8 ULB সেইজন্য তারা লোক পাঠিয়ে পলেষ্টীয়দের শাসনকর্তাদের নিজেদের কাছে এক জায়গায় ডেকে এনে বলল, “ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বরের সিন্দুকের বিষয়ে আমাদের কি কর্তব্য?” শাসনকর্তারা বললেন, “ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বরের সিন্দুক গাতে নিয়ে যাওয়া হোক।” তাতে তারা ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বরের সিন্দুক সেখানে নিয়ে গেল। BSB BSB: So they called together all the rulers of the Philistines and asked, “What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel?” “It must be moved to Gath,” they replied. So they carried away the ark of the God of Israel.
9 ULB তারা নিয়ে যাওয়ার পরে সেই শহরের বিরুদ্ধে সদাপ্রভুর হাত খুবই ভয়ংকর হয়ে উঠলো এবং তিনি শহরের ছোট-বড় সমস্ত লোককে আঘাত করলেন, তাদের ফোড়া হল। BSB BSB: But after they had moved the ark to Gath, the LORD’s hand was also against that city, throwing it into great confusion and afflicting the men of the city, both young and old, with an outbreak of tumors.
11 ULB পরে তারা লোক পাঠিয়ে পলেষ্টীয়দের সব শাসনকর্তাদের এক জায়গায় ডেকে এনে বলল, “ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বরের সিন্দুক পাঠিয়ে দিন, তা নিজের জায়গাতেই ফিরে যাক, আমাদের ও আমাদের লোকদের হত্যা না করুক।” কারণ মহামারীর ভয়ে শহরের সব জায়গায় ভয় উপস্থিত হয়েছিল; সেই জায়গায় ঈশ্বরের হাত খুবই ভারী হয়েছিল। BSB BSB: Then the Ekronites called together all the rulers of the Philistines and said, “Send away the ark of the God of Israel. It must return to its place, so that it will not kill us and our people!” For a deadly confusion had pervaded the city; the hand of God was very heavy upon it.
12 ULB যে সব লোক মারা যায় নি, তারা ফোড়ায় আহত হল; আর শহরের চিত্কারের শব্দ আকাশ পর্যন্ত উঠলো। BSB BSB: Those who did not die were afflicted with tumors, and the outcry of the city went up to heaven.
