1 ULB আর অব্রাহাম সেখান থেকে দক্ষিণ দেশে যাত্রা করে কাদেশ ও শূরের মাঝখানে থাকলেন ও গবারে বাস করলেন। BSB BSB: Now Abraham journeyed from there to the region of the Negev and settled between Kadesh and Shur. While he was staying in Gerar,
2 ULB আর অব্রাহাম নিজের স্ত্রী সারার বিষয়ে বললেন, "এ আমার বোন" তাতে গবারের রাজা অবীমেলক লোক পাঠিয়ে সারাকে গ্রহণ করলেন। BSB BSB: Abraham said of his wife Sarah, “She is my sister.” So Abimelech king of Gerar had Sarah brought to him.
3 ULB কিন্তু রাতে ঈশ্বর স্বপ্নে অবীমেলকের কাছে এসে বললেন, "দেখ, ঐ যে নারীকে গ্রহণ করেছ, তার জন্য তোমার মৃত্যু হবে, কারণ সে একজন লোকের স্ত্রী।" BSB BSB: One night, however, God came to Abimelech in a dream and told him, “You are as good as dead because of the woman you have taken, for she is a married woman.”
4 ULB তখন অবীমেলক তাঁর কাছে যাননি; তাই তিনি বললেন, "প্রভু, যে জাতি নির্দোষ, তাকেও কি আপনি হত্যা করবেন? BSB BSB: Now Abimelech had not gone near her, so he replied, “Lord, would You destroy a nation even though it is innocent?
5 ULB সেই ব্যক্তি কি আমাকে বলেনি, এ আমার বোন? এবং সেই স্ত্রীও কি বলেনি, এ আমার ভাই? আমি যা করেছি, তা হৃদয়ের সরলতায় ও হাতের নির্দোষতায় করেছি। BSB BSB: Didn’t Abraham tell me, ‘She is my sister’? And she herself said, ‘He is my brother.’ I have done this in the integrity of my heart and the innocence of my hands.”
6 ULB তখন ঈশ্বর স্বপ্নে তাঁকে বললেন, "তুমি হৃদয়ের সরলতায় এ কাজ করেছ, তা আমিও জানি, এবং আমার বিরুদ্ধে পাপ করতে আমি তোমাকে বারণ করলাম; এই জন্য তাকে স্পর্শ করতে দিলাম না। BSB BSB: Then God said to Abimelech in the dream, “Yes, I know that you did this with a clear conscience, and so I have kept you from sinning against Me. That is why I did not let you touch her.
7 ULB অতএব, সেই ব্যক্তির স্ত্রীকে ফিরিয়ে দাও, কারণ সে ভাববাদী; আর সে তোমার জন্য প্রার্থনা করবে, তাতে তুমি বাঁচবে; কিন্তু যদি তাকে ফিরিয়ে না দাও, তবে এটা জেনে রাখ, তুমি ও তোমরা সকলেই নিশ্চয় মরবে।" BSB BSB: Now return the man’s wife, for he is a prophet; he will pray for you and you will live. But if you do not restore her, be aware that you will surely die—you and all who belong to you.”
8 ULB অবীমেলক খুব সকালে উঠে নিজের সব দাসকে ডেকে ঐ সমস্ত বিবরণ তাদেরকে বললেন; তাতে তারা খুব ভয় পেল। BSB BSB: Early the next morning Abimelech got up and summoned all his servants; and when he described to them all that had happened, the men were terrified.
9 ULB পরে অবীমেলক অব্রাহামকে ডেকে বললেন, "আপনি আমাদের সঙ্গে এ কি ব্যবহার করলেন? আমি আপনার কাছে কি দোষ করেছি যে আপনি আমাকে ও আমার রাজ্যকে এমন মহাপাপগ্রস্ত করলেন? আপনি আমার প্রতি অনুচিত কাজ করলেন।" BSB BSB: Then Abimelech called Abraham and asked, “What have you done to us? How have I sinned against you, that you have brought such tremendous guilt upon me and my kingdom? You have done things to me that should not be done.”
10 ULB অবীমেলক অব্রাহামকে বললেন, "আপনি কি দেখেছিলেন যে, এমন কাজ করলেন?" BSB BSB: Abimelech also asked Abraham, “What prompted you to do such a thing?”
11 ULB তখন অব্রাহাম বললেন, "আমি ভেবেছিলাম, এই জায়গায় নিশ্চয় ঈশ্বর ভয় নেই, তাই এরা হয়তো আমার স্ত্রীর লোভে আমাকে হত্যা করবে। BSB BSB: Abraham replied, “I thought to myself, ‘Surely there is no fear of God in this place. They will kill me on account of my wife.’
12 ULB আর সে অবশ্যই আমার বোন, সে আমার বাবার মেয়ে কিন্তু মায়ের নয়, পরে আমার স্ত্রী হল। BSB BSB: Besides, she really is my sister, the daughter of my father—though not the daughter of my mother—and she became my wife.
13 ULB যখন ঈশ্বর আমাকে বাবার বাড়ি ছেড়ে যেতে বলেছিলেন তখন আমি তাকে বলেছিলাম, তুমি আমার প্রতি তোমার এই দয়া করতে হবে, আমরা যে সমস্ত জায়গায় যাব আমার সম্মন্ধে বলবে, এ আমার ভাই।" BSB BSB: So when God had me journey from my father’s house, I said to Sarah, ‘This is how you can show your loyalty to me: Wherever we go, say of me, “He is my brother.”’”
14 ULB তখন অবীমেলক ভেড়া, গোরু ও দাস দাসী এনে অব্রাহামকে দান করলেন এবং তাঁর স্ত্রী সারাকেও ফিরিয়ে দিলেন; BSB BSB: So Abimelech brought sheep and cattle, menservants and maidservants, and he gave them to Abraham and restored his wife Sarah to him.
15 ULB অবীমেলক বললেন, "দেখুন, আমার দেশ আপনার সামনে আছে আপনার যেখানে ইচ্ছা সেখানে বাস করুন।" BSB BSB: And Abimelech said, “Look, my land is before you. Settle wherever you please.”
16 ULB আর তিনি সারাকে বললেন, "দেখুন, আমি আপনার ভাইকে হাজার টুকরো রুপো দিলাম; দেখুন, আপনার সঙ্গী সকলের কাছে তা আপনার চোখের আবরণ স্বরূপ; সব বিষয়ে আপনার বিচার নিষ্পত্তি হল।" BSB BSB: And he said to Sarah, “See, I am giving your brother a thousand pieces of silver. It is your vindication before all who are with you; you are completely cleared.”
17 ULB পরে অব্রাহাম ঈশ্বরের কাছে প্রার্থনা করলেন, আর ঈশ্বর অবীমেলককে ও তাঁর স্ত্রীকে ও তাঁর দাসীদেরকে সুস্থ করলেন; তাতে তারা প্রসব করল। BSB BSB: Then Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelech and his wife and his maidservants, so that they could again bear children—
18 ULB কারণ অব্রাহামের স্ত্রী সারার জন্য সদাপ্রভু অবীমেলকের পরিবারে সমস্ত গর্ভ রোধ করেছিলেন। BSB BSB: for on account of Abraham’s wife Sarah, the LORD had completely closed all the wombs in Abimelech’s household.
