1 ULB পরে সন্ধ্যাবেলায় ঐ দুই দূত সদোমে এলেন। তখন লোট সদোমের দরজার কাছে বসেছিলেন, আর তাঁদেরকে দেখে তাঁদের কাছে যাবার জন্য উঠলেন এবং মাটিতে মুখ দিয়ে প্রণাম করলেন BSB BSB: Now the two angels arrived at Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gateway of the city. When Lot saw them, he got up to meet them, bowed facedown,
2 ULB তিনি বললেন, "হে আমার প্রভুরা, দেখুন, অনুরোধ করি, আপনাদের এই দাসের বাড়িতে প্রবেশ করুন, রাতে থাকুন ও আপনার পা ধুয়ে নিন; পরে সকালে উঠে নিজের যাত্রায় এগিয়ে যাবেন।" এবং তাঁরা বললেন, "না, আমরা চকেই রাত কাটাব।" BSB BSB: and said, “My lords, please turn aside into the house of your servant; wash your feet and spend the night. Then you can rise early and go on your way.” “No,” they answered, “we will spend the night in the square.”
3 ULB কিন্তু লোট অতিরিক্ত আগ্রহ দেখাবার পর, তাঁরা তাঁর সঙ্গে গেলেন ও তাঁর বাড়িতে প্রবেশ করলেন; তাতে তিনি তাঁদের জন্য খাবার তৈরী করলেন ও তাড়ীশূন্য রুটি তৈরী করলেন, আর তাঁরা ভোজন করলেন। BSB BSB: But Lot insisted so strongly that they followed him into his house. He prepared a feast for them and baked unleavened bread, and they ate.
4 ULB পরে তাঁদের শোয়ার আগে ঐ নগরের পুরুষেরা, সদোমের যুবক ও বৃদ্ধ সমস্ত লোক চারদিক থেকে এসে তাঁর বাড়ি ঘিরে ফেলল BSB BSB: Before they had gone to bed, all the men of the city of Sodom, both young and old, surrounded the house.
5 ULB তারা লোটকে ডেকে বলল, "আজ রাত্রে যে দুজন লোক তোমার বাড়ীতে আসল, তারা কোথায়? তাদেরকে বার করে আমাদের কাছে আন, আমরা তাদের পরিচয় নেব।" BSB BSB: They called out to Lot, saying, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Send them out to us so we can have relations with them!”
6 ULB তখন লোট ঘরের দরজার বাইরে তাদের কাছে এসে নিজে পেছনের দরজা বন্ধ করলেন BSB BSB: Lot went outside to meet them, shutting the door behind him.
7 ULB তিনি বললেন, "ভাই সব, অনুরোধ করি, এমন খারাপ ব্যবহার কর না। BSB BSB: “Please, my brothers,” he pleaded, “don’t do such a wicked thing!
9 ULB তখন তারা বলল, "সরে যা!" তারা আরও বলল, "একজন বিদেশী হিসাবে এখানে বাস করতে এসে এখন এ আমাদের বিচারকর্তা হল; এখন তাদের থেকে তোর প্রতি আরও খারাপ ব্যবহার করব।" তারা লোটের ওপরে চাপ দিতে লাগল এবং তারা দরজা ভাঙ্গতে কাছে এল। BSB BSB: “Get out of the way!” they replied. And they declared, “This one came here as a foreigner, and he is already acting like a judge! Now we will treat you worse than them.” And they pressed in on Lot and moved in to break down the door.
10 ULB তখন সেই দুই ব্যক্তি হাত বাড়িয়ে লোটকে ঘরের মধ্যে নিজেদের কাছে টেনে নিয়ে দরজা বন্ধ করলেন; BSB BSB: But the men inside reached out, pulled Lot into the house with them, and shut the door.
11 ULB এবং বাড়ির দরজার কাছে ছোট কী বড় সব লোককে অন্ধতায় আহত করলেন; তাতে তারা দরজা খুঁজতে খুঁজতে পরিশ্রান্ত হল। BSB BSB: And they struck the men at the entrance, young and old, with blindness, so that they wearied themselves trying to find the door.
12 ULB পরে সেই ব্যক্তিরা লোটকে বললেন, "এই জায়গায় তোমার আর কে কে আছে? তোমার জামাই ও ছেলে মেয়ে যত জন এই নগরে আছে, সে সকলকে এই জায়গা থেকে নিয়ে যাও। BSB BSB: Then the two men said to Lot, “Do you have anyone else here—a son-in-law, your sons or daughters, or anyone else in the city who belongs to you? Get them out of here,
13 ULB কারণ আমরা এই জায়গা ধ্বংস করব; কারণ সদাপ্রভুর সামনে এই লোকদের বিপরীতে ভীষণ কান্নার আওয়াজ উঠেছে, তাই সদাপ্রভু এটা ধ্বংস করতে আমাদেরকে পাঠিয়েছেন।" BSB BSB: because we are about to destroy this place. For the outcry to the LORD against its people is so great that He has sent us to destroy it.”
14 ULB তখন লোট বাইরে গিয়ে, যারা তাঁর মেয়েদেরকে বিয়ে করেছিল, নিজের সেই জামাইদেরকে বললেন, "তাড়াতাড়ি ওঠ, এ জায়গা থেকে বেরিয়ে যাও, কারণ সদাপ্রভু এই নগর ধ্বংস করবেন।" কিন্তু তাঁর জামাইরা তাঁকে উপহাসকারী বলে মনে করল। BSB BSB: So Lot went out and spoke to the sons-in-law who were pledged in marriage to his daughters. “Get up,” he said. “Get out of this place, for the LORD is about to destroy the city!” But his sons-in-law thought he was joking.
15 ULB যখন প্রভাত হল সেই দূতেরা লোটকে তাড়াতাড়ি বললেন, "ওঠ, তোমার স্ত্রীকে ও এই যে মেয়ে দুটি এখানে আছে, এদেরকে নিয়ে যাও, যদি তোমরা নগরের অপরাধে বিনষ্ট হও।" BSB BSB: At daybreak the angels hurried Lot along, saying, “Get up! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away in the punishment of the city.”
17 ULB যখন তাদেরকে বের করে তিনি লোটকে বললেন, "প্রাণরক্ষার জন্য পালিয়ে যাও! পিছন দিকে দেখ না; অথবা সমতলে যেকোনো জায়গায় থেকো না; পর্বতে পালিয়ে যাও, যাতে বিনষ্ট না হও। BSB BSB: As soon as the men had brought them out, one of them said, “Run for your lives! Do not look back, and do not stop anywhere on the plain! Flee to the mountains, or you will be swept away!”
18 ULB লোট তাঁদেরকে বললেন, "হে আমার প্রভু, এমন না হোক। BSB BSB: But Lot replied, “No, my lords, please!
19 ULB দেখুন, আপনার দাস আপনার কাছে অনুগ্রহ প্রাপ্ত হয়েছে; আমার প্রাণরক্ষা করাতে আপনি আমার প্রতি আপনার মহাদয়া প্রকাশ করেছেন; কিন্তু আমি পর্বতে পালাতে পারি না; কি জানি, সেই বিপদ এসে পড়লে আমিও মরব। BSB BSB: Your servant has indeed found favor in your sight, and you have shown me great kindness by sparing my life. But I cannot run to the mountains; the disaster will overtake me, and I will die.
20 ULB দেখুন, পালানোর জন্য ঐ শহর কাছাকাছি, ওটা ছোট; ওখানে পালাবার অনুমতি দিন, তা হলে আমার প্রাণ বাঁচবে; ওটা কী ছোট না?" BSB BSB: Look, there is a town nearby where I can flee, and it is a small place. Please let me flee there—is it not a small place? Then my life will be saved.”
21 ULB তিনি বললেন, "ভাল, আমি এ বিষয়েও তোমার প্রতি অনুগ্রহ করছি, ঐ যে নগরের কথা বললে, উহা ধ্বংস করব না। BSB BSB: “Very well,” he answered, “I will grant this request as well, and will not demolish the town you indicate.
22 ULB তাড়াতাড়ি! ঐ জায়গায় পালিয়ে যাও, কারণ তুমি ঐ জায়গায় না পৌঁছালে আমি কিছু করতে পারি না।" এই জন্য সেই জায়গার নাম সোয়র অর্থাৎ ক্ষুদ্র হল। BSB BSB: Hurry! Run there quickly, for I cannot do anything until you reach it.” That is why the town was called Zoar.
23 ULB দেশের উপর সূর্য উদিত হলে লোট সোয়রে প্রবেশ করলেন, BSB BSB: And by the time the sun had risen over the land, Lot had reached Zoar.
25 ULB সেই সব নগর, সমস্ত অঞ্চল নগরবাসী সব লোক ও সেই ভূমিতে উত্পন্ন সমস্ত বস্তু ধ্বংস করলেন। BSB BSB: Thus He destroyed these cities and the entire plain, including all the inhabitants of the cities and everything that grew on the ground.
26 ULB কিন্তু লোটের স্ত্রী, যে তাঁর পিছনে ছিল, সে পিছনের দিকে তাকাল এবং লবণস্তম্ভ হয়ে গেল। BSB BSB: But Lot’s wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.
27 ULB আর অব্রাহাম খুব সকালে ঘুম থেকে উঠলেন এবং সেই জায়গায় গেলেন, আগে যে জায়গায় সদাপ্রভু দাড়িয়ে ছিলেন BSB BSB: Early the next morning, Abraham got up and returned to the place where he had stood before the LORD.
28 ULB সদোম ও ঘমোরার দিকে ও সেই অঞ্চলের সব ভূমির দিকে চেয়ে দেখলেন, আর দেখ, ভাটির ধোঁয়ার মতো সেই দেশের থেকে ধোঁয়া উঠছে। BSB BSB: He looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah and all the land of the plain, and he saw the smoke rising from the land like smoke from a furnace.
29 ULB এইভাবে সেই অঞ্চলে অবস্থিত সমস্ত নগরের ধ্বংসের সময়ে ঈশ্বর অব্রাহামকে স্মরণ করলেন। যে যে নগরে লোট বাস করতেন, সেই সেই নগরের ধ্বংসের সময়ে ধ্বংসের মধ্য থেকে লোটকে পাঠালেন। BSB BSB: So when God destroyed the cities of the plain, He remembered Abraham, and He brought Lot out of the catastrophe that destroyed the cities where he had lived.
32 ULB এস, আমরা বাবাকে আঙ্গুর রস পান করিয়ে তাঁর সঙ্গে শয়ন করি, এইভাবে আমরা বাবার বংশ বৃদ্ধি করি।" BSB BSB: Come, let us get our father drunk with wine so we can sleep with him and preserve his line.”
33 ULB তাতে তারা সেই রাতে নিজেদের বাবাকে আঙ্গুর রস পান করাল, পরে তাঁর বড় মেয়ে বাবার সঙ্গে শয়ন করতে গেল; তাঁর শয়ন করা ও উঠে যাওয়া লোট টের পেলেন না। BSB BSB: So that night they got their father drunk with wine, and the firstborn went in and slept with her father; he was not aware when she lay down or when she got up.
34 ULB আর পরদিন বড় মেয়েটি ছোট মেয়েটিকে বলল, "দেখ, গত রাতে আমি বাবার সঙ্গে শয়ন করেছিলাম; এস, আমরা আজ রাতেও বাবাকে আঙ্গুর রস পান করাই; পরে তুমি গিয়ে তাঁর সঙ্গে শয়ন কর, এইভাবে বাবার বংশ রক্ষা করব।" BSB BSB: The next day the older daughter said to the younger, “Look, I slept with my father last night. Let us get him drunk with wine again tonight so you can go in and sleep with him and we can preserve our father’s line.”
35 ULB এইভাবে তারা সেই রাতেও বাবাকে আঙ্গুর রস পান করাল; পরে ছোট মেয়ে উঠে গিয়ে তাঁর সঙ্গে শয়ন করল; তার শয়ন করা ও উঠে যাওয়া লোট টের পেলেন না। BSB BSB: So again that night they got their father drunk with wine, and the younger daughter went in and slept with him; he was not aware when she lay down or when she got up.
36 ULB এইভাবে লোটের দুটি মেয়েই নিজেদের বাবা থেকে গর্ভবতী হল। BSB BSB: Thus both of Lot’s daughters became pregnant by their father.
37 ULB পরে বড় মেয়ে ছেলের জন্ম দিয়ে তার নাম মোয়াব রাখল; সে এখনকার মোয়াবীয়দের আদিপিতা। BSB BSB: The older daughter gave birth to a son and named him Moab. He is the father of the Moabites of today.
38 ULB আর ছোট মেয়েটিও ছেলের জন্ম দিয়ে তার নাম বিন–অম্মি রাখল, সে এখনকার অম্মোন-লোকদের আদিবাবা। BSB BSB: The younger daughter also gave birth to a son, and she named him Ben-ammi. He is the father of the Ammonites of today.
