1 ULB পরে সন্বল্লট, টোবিয়, আরবীয় গেশম ও আমাদের বাকী শত্রুরা শুনতে পেল যে, আমি দেওয়াল গেঁথে ফেলেছি, তার মধ্যে আর ভাঙ্গা জায়গা নেই; তা সত্ত্বেও তখনও শহরের দরজাগুলির দরজা স্থাপন করিনি। BSB BSB: When Sanballat, Tobiah, Geshem the Arab, and the rest of our enemies heard that I had rebuilt the wall and not a gap was left—though to that time I had not yet installed the doors in the gates—
2 ULB তখন সন্বল্লট আর গেশম লোকের মাধ্যমে আমাকে এই কথা বলে পাঠাল, “এস, আমরা ওনো সমভূমির কোনো গ্রামে মিলিত হই।” কিন্তু তারা আমার ক্ষতি করবার ষড়যন্ত্র করেছিল। BSB BSB: Sanballat and Geshem sent me this message: “Come, let us meet together in one of the villages on the plain of Ono.” But they were planning to harm me.
3 ULB তখন আমি দূতের মাধ্যমে তাদেরকে বলে পাঠালাম, “আমি এক বিশেষ কাজ করছি, নেমে যেতে পারিনা; আমি যতক্ষণ কাজ ছেড়ে তোমাদের কাছে নেমে যাব, ততক্ষণ কাজ কেন বন্ধ থাকবে?” BSB BSB: So I sent messengers to them, saying, “I am doing a great work and cannot come down. Why should the work stop while I leave it to go down to you?”
4 ULB এইভাবে তারা চার বার আমার কাছে লোক পাঠাল, আর আমি তাদেরকে সেইমত উত্তর দিলাম। BSB BSB: Four times they sent me the same message, and each time I gave the same reply.
5 ULB পরে পঞ্চম বারে সন্বল্লট ঐভাবে তার চাকরকে আমার কাছে পাঠিয়ে দিল। তার হাতে একটা খোলা চিঠি ছিল; BSB BSB: The fifth time, Sanballat sent me this same message by his young servant, who had in his hand an unsealed letter
6 ULB তাতে এই কথা লেখা ছিল, “জাতিদের মধ্যে এই কথা শোনা যাচ্ছে এবং গেশমও বলছে যে, তুমি ও যিহূদীরা বিদ্রোহের ষড়যন্ত্র করছ, এই জন্য তুমি দেওয়াল গাঁথছ; আর এই লোকজনের কথা অর্থ এই যে, তুমি তাদের রাজা হতে যাচ্ছ। BSB BSB: that read: “It is reported among the nations—and Geshem agrees—that you and the Jews are plotting to revolt, and this is why you are building the wall. According to these reports, you are to become their king,
7 ULB আর যিহূদা দেশে একজন রাজা আছেন, আপনার বিষয়ে যিরূশালেমে এটা প্রচার করার জন্য তুমি ভাববাদীদেরকেও নিযুক্ত করেছ। এখন এই লোকের কথা রাজার কাছে পৌঁছাবে। অতএব এস, আমরা জড়ো হয়ে পরামর্শ করি।” BSB BSB: and you have even appointed prophets in Jerusalem to proclaim on your behalf: ‘There is a king in Judah.’ Soon these rumors will reach the ears of the king. So come, let us confer together.”
8 ULB তখন আমি তাকে বলে পাঠিয়ে দিলাম, “তুমি যেসব কথা বলছ, সেরকম কোনো কাজ হয়নি; কিন্তু তুমি মনগড়া কথা বলছ।” BSB BSB: Then I sent him this reply: “There is nothing to these rumors you are spreading; you are inventing them in your own mind.”
9 ULB কারণ তারা সবাই আমাদেরকে ভয় দেখাতে চাইত, এই কাজে ওদের হাত দুর্বল হোক, তাতে তা শেষ হবে না। কিন্তু এখন হে ঈশ্বর, তুমি আমার হাত শক্ত কর। BSB BSB: For they were all trying to frighten us, saying, “Their hands will be weakened in the work, and it will never be finished.” But now, my God, strengthen my hands.
10 ULB একদিন আমি দলায়ের ছেলে শময়িয়ের ঘরে গেলাম। দলায় মহেটবেলের ছেলে। শময়িয় তার ঘরে আটকে ছিল। আর সে বলল, “এস, আমরা ঈশ্বরের গৃহে, মন্দিরের ভিতরে, জড়ো হই ও মন্দিরের দরজা সব বন্ধ করি, কারণ লোকে তোমাকে হত্যা করতে আসবে, রাতেই তোমাকে হত্যা করতে আসবে।” BSB BSB: Later, I went to the house of Shemaiah son of Delaiah, the son of Mehetabel, who was confined to his house. He said: “Let us meet at the house of God inside the temple. Let us shut the temple doors because they are coming to kill you—by night they are coming to kill you!”
11 ULB তখন আমি বললাম, “আমার মত লোক কি পালাবে? আমার মত কোন লোকটি প্রাণ বাঁচবার জন্য মন্দিরে আশ্রয় নেবে? আমি সেখানে যাব না।” BSB BSB: But I replied, “Should a man like me run away? Should one like me go into the temple to save his own life? I will not go!”
12 ULB আর আমি বুঝতে পারলাম যে, ঈশ্বর তাকে পাঠান নি; বলে সে আমার বিরুদ্ধে ভাববাণী বলেছে এবং টোবিয় আর সন্বল্লট তাকে ঘুষ দিয়েছে। BSB BSB: I realized that God had not sent him, but that he had uttered this prophecy against me because Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.
13 ULB তাকে এই জন্য ঘুষ দেওয়া হয়েছিল, যেন আমি ভয় পেয়ে সেই কাজ করি ও পাপ করি, আর তাতে যেন তারা আমার দুর্নাম করবার সংকেত পেয়ে আমাকে টিটকারি দিতে পারে। BSB BSB: He had been hired to intimidate me so that I would sin by doing as he suggested, so they could give me a bad name in order to discredit me.
14 ULB হে আমার ঈশ্বর, টোবিয় আর সন্বল্লটের এই কাজ অনুসারে তাদের এবং নোয়দিয়া ভাববাদিনীকে ও অন্য যে সব ভাববাদীরা আমাকে ভয় দেখাবার চেষ্টা করছিল তাদের কথাও মনে রেখো। BSB BSB: O my God, remember Tobiah and Sanballat for what they have done, and also Noadiah the prophetess and the other prophets who tried to intimidate me.
15 ULB ইলূল মাসের পঁচিশ দিনে, বাহান্ন দিনের দিন দেওয়াল গাঁথা শেষ হল। BSB BSB: So the wall was completed in fifty-two days, on the twenty-fifth of Elul.
16 ULB পরে আমাদের সব শত্রুরা যখন তা শুনল, তখন আমাদের আশেপাশের জাতিরা সবাই ভয় পেল এবং নিজেদের চোখে খুব নীচু হল, কারণ এই কাজ যে আমাদের ঈশ্বর থেকেই হল, এরা তা বুঝল। BSB BSB: When all our enemies heard about this, all the surrounding nations were afraid and disheartened, for they realized that this task had been accomplished by our God.
17 ULB আবার ঐ সময়ে যিহূদার প্রধান লোকেরা টোবিয়ের কাছে অনেক চিঠি পাঠাত এবং টোবিয়ের চিঠিও তাদের কাছে আসত। BSB BSB: Also in those days, the nobles of Judah sent many letters to Tobiah, and Tobiah’s letters kept coming to them.
18 ULB কারণ যিহূদার মধ্যে অনেকে তার পক্ষে শপথ করেছিল, কারণ সে ছিল আরহের ছেলে শখনিয়ের জামাই এবং তার ছেলে যিহোহানন বেরিখিয়ের ছেলে মশুল্লমের মেয়েকে বিয়ে করেছিল। BSB BSB: For many in Judah were bound by oath to him, since he was a son-in-law of Shecaniah son of Arah, and his son Jehohanan had married the daughter of Meshullam son of Berechiah.
19 ULB আর তারা আমার সামনে তার ভালো কাজের কথা বলত এবং আমার কথাও তাকে জানাত। আমাকে ভয় দেখাবার জন্য টোবিয় চিঠি পাঠাত। BSB BSB: Moreover, these nobles kept reporting to me Tobiah’s good deeds, and they relayed my words to him. And Tobiah sent letters to intimidate me.
