The Order of the Camps 1 Brenton And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, BSB BSB: Then the LORD said to Moses and Aaron:
2 Brenton Let the children of Israel encamp fronting each other , every man keeping his own rank, according to their standards, according to the houses of their families; the children of Israel shall encamp round about the tabernacle of witness. BSB BSB: “The Israelites are to camp around the Tent of Meeting at a distance from it, each man under his standard, with the banners of his family.
3 Brenton And they that encamp first toward the east shall be the order of the camp of Juda with their host, and the prince of the sons of Juda, Naasson the son of Aminadab. BSB BSB: On the east side, toward the sunrise, the divisions of Judah are to camp under their standard: The leader of the Judahites is Nahshon son of Amminadab,
4 Brenton His forces that were numbered, were seventy-four thousand and six hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 74,600.
5 Brenton And they that encamp next shall be of the tribe of Issachar, and the prince of the sons of Issachar shall be Nathanael the son of Sogar. BSB BSB: The tribe of Issachar will camp next to it. The leader of the Issacharites is Nethanel son of Zuar,
6 Brenton His forces that were numbered, were fifty-four thousand and four hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 54,400.
7 Brenton And they that encamp next shall be of the tribe of Zabulon, and the prince of the sons of Zabulon shall be Eliab the son of Chælon. BSB BSB: Next will be the tribe of Zebulun. The leader of the Zebulunites is Eliab son of Helon,
8 Brenton His forces that were numbered, were fifty-seven thousand and four hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 57,400.
9 Brenton All that were numbered of the camp of Juda were a hundred and eighty thousand and six thousand and four hundred: they shall move first with their forces. BSB BSB: The total number of men in the divisions of the camp of Judah is 186,400; they shall set out first.
10 Brenton This is the order of the camp of Ruben; their forces shall be toward the south, and the prince of the children of Ruben shall be Elisur the son of Sediur.BSB BSB: On the south side, the divisions of Reuben are to camp under their standard: The leader of the Reubenites is Elizur son of Shedeur,
11 Brenton His forces that were numbered, were forty-six thousand and five hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 46,500.
12 Brenton And they that encamp next to him shall be of the tribe of Symeon, and the prince of the sons of Symeon shall be Salamiel the son of Surisadai. BSB BSB: The tribe of Simeon will camp next to it. The leader of the Simeonites is Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai,
13 Brenton His forces that were numbered, were fifty-nine thousand and three hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 59,300.
14 Brenton And they that encamp next to them shall be the tribe of Gad; and the prince of the sons of Gad, Elisaph the son of Raguel. BSB BSB: Next will be the tribe of Gad. The leader of the Gadites is Eliasaph son of Deuel,
15 Brenton His forces that were numbered, were forty-five thousand and six hundred and fifty. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 45,650.
16 Brenton All who were numbered of the camp of Ruben, were a hundred and fifty-one thousand and four hundred and fifty: they with their forces shall proceed in the second place. BSB BSB: The total number of men in the divisions of the camp of Reuben is 151,450; they shall set out second.
17 Brenton And then the tabernacle of witness shall be set forward, and the camp of the Levites shall be between the camps; as they shall encamp, so also shall they commence their march, each one next in order to his fellow according to their companies. BSB BSB: In the middle of the camps, the Tent of Meeting is to travel with the camp of the Levites. They are to set out in the order they encamped, each in his own place under his standard.
18 Brenton The station of the camp of Ephraim shall be westward with their forces, and the head of the children of Ephraim shall be Elisama the son of Emiud. BSB BSB: On the west side, the divisions of Ephraim are to camp under their standard: The leader of the Ephraimites is Elishama son of Ammihud,
19 Brenton His forces that were numbered, are forty thousand and five hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 40,500.
20 Brenton And they that encamp next shall be of the tribe of Manasse, and the prince of the sons of Manasse, Gamaliel the son of Phadassur. BSB BSB: The tribe of Manasseh will be next to it. The leader of the Manassites is Gamaliel son of Pedahzur,
21 Brenton His forces that were numbered, were thirty-two thousand and two hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 32,200.
22 Brenton And they that encamp next shall be of the tribe of Benjamin, and the prince of the sons of Benjamin, Abidan the son of Gadeoni. BSB BSB: Next will be the tribe of Benjamin. The leader of the Benjamites is Abidan son of Gideoni,
23 Brenton His forces that were numbered, were thirty-five thousand and four hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 35,400.
24 Brenton All that were numbered of the camp of Ephraim, were one hundred and eight thousand and one hundred: they with their forces shall set out third. BSB BSB: The total number of men in the divisions of the camp of Ephraim is 108,100; they shall set out third.
25 Brenton The order of the camp of Dan shall be northward with their forces; and the prince of the sons of Dan, Achiezer the son of Amisadai. BSB BSB: On the north side, the divisions of Dan are to camp under their standard: The leader of the Danites is Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai,
26 Brenton His forces that were numbered, were sixty-two thousand and seven hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 62,700.
27 Brenton And they that encamp next to him shall be the tribe of Aser; and the prince of the sons of Aser, Phagiel the son of Echran. BSB BSB: The tribe of Asher will camp next to it. The leader of the Asherites is Pagiel son of Ocran,
28 Brenton His forces that were numbered, were forty-one thousand and five hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 41,500.
29 Brenton And they that encamp next shall be of the tribe of Nephthali; and the prince of the children of Nephthali, Achire son of Ænan. BSB BSB: Next will be the tribe of Naphtali. The leader of the Naphtalites is Ahira son of Enan,
30 Brenton His forces that were numbered were fifty-three thousand and four hundred. BSB BSB: and his division numbers 53,400.
31 Brenton All that were numbered of the camp of Dan, were a hundred and fifty-seven thousand and six hundred: they shall set out last according to their order. BSB BSB: The total number of men in the camp of Dan is 157,600; they shall set out last, under their standards.”
32 Brenton This is the numbering of the children of Israel according to the houses of their families: all the numbering of the camps with their forces, was six hundred and three thousand, five hundred and fifty. BSB BSB: These are the Israelites, numbered according to their families. The total of those counted in the camps, by their divisions, was 603,550.
33 Brenton But the Levites were not numbered with them, as the Lord commanded Moses. BSB BSB: But the Levites were not counted among the other Israelites, as the LORD had commanded Moses.
34 Brenton And the children of Israel did all things that the Lord commanded Moses; thus they encamped in their order, and thus they began their march in succession each according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families. BSB BSB: So the Israelites did everything the LORD commanded Moses; they camped under their standards in this way and set out in the same way, each man with his clan and his family.
