The LORD Is My Strength 1 Brenton A Psalm of David. To thee, O Lord, have I cried; my God, be not silent toward me: lest thou be silent toward me, and so I should be likened to them that go down to the pit.BSB BSB: Of David. To You, O LORD, I call; be not deaf to me, O my Rock. For if You remain silent, I will be like those descending to the Pit.
2 Brenton Hearken to the voice of my supplication, when I pray to thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy temple. BSB BSB: Hear my cry for mercy when I call to You for help, when I lift up my hands toward Your holy sanctuary.
3 Brenton Draw not away my soul with sinners, and destroy me not with the workers of iniquity, who speak peace with their neighbours, but evils are in their hearts. BSB BSB: Do not drag me away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, who speak peace to their neighbors while malice is in their hearts.
4 Brenton Give them according to their works, and according to the wickedness of their devices: give them according to the works of their hands; render their recompence unto them. BSB BSB: Repay them according to their deeds and for their works of evil. Repay them for what their hands have done; bring back on them what they deserve.
5 Brenton Because they have not attended to the works of the Lord, even to the works of his hands, thou shalt pull them down, and shalt not build them up. BSB BSB: Since they show no regard for the works of the LORD or what His hands have done, He will tear them down and never rebuild them.
6 Brenton Blessed be the Lord, for he has hearkened to the voice of my petition. BSB BSB: Blessed be the LORD, for He has heard my cry for mercy.
7 Brenton The Lord is my helper and my defender; my heart has hoped in him, and I am helped: my flesh has revived, and willingly will I give praise to him. BSB BSB: The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped. Therefore my heart rejoices, and I give thanks to Him with my song.
8 Brenton The Lord is the strength of his people, and the saving defender of his anointed. BSB BSB: The LORD is the strength of His people, a stronghold of salvation for His anointed.
9 Brenton Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance: and take care of them, and lift them up for ever. BSB BSB: Save Your people and bless Your inheritance; shepherd them and carry them forever.
