Psalm 63 63 Psalms Book 2 Brenton Septuagint Thirsting for God (2 Samuel 15:30–37)
Brenton A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Idumea. O God, my God, I cry to thee early; my soul has thirsted for thee: how often has my flesh longed after thee, in a barren and trackless and dry land! BSB BSB: A Psalm of David, when he was in the Wilderness of Judah. O God, You are my God. Earnestly I seek You; my soul thirsts for You. My body yearns for You in a dry and weary land without water.
Brenton Thus have I appeared before thee in the sanctuary, that I might see thy power and thy glory. BSB BSB: So I have seen You in the sanctuary and beheld Your power and glory.
Brenton For thy mercy is better than life: my lips shall praise thee. BSB BSB: Because Your loving devotion is better than life, my lips will glorify You.
Brenton Thus will I bless thee during my life: I will lift up my hands in thy name. BSB BSB: So I will bless You as long as I live; in Your name I will lift my hands.
Brenton Let my soul be filled as with marrow and fatness; and my joyful lips shall praise thy name. BSB BSB: My soul is satisfied as with the richest of foods; with joyful lips my mouth will praise You.
Brenton Forasmuch as I have remembered thee on my bed: in the early seasons I have meditated on thee. BSB BSB: When I remember You on my bed, I think of You through the watches of the night.
Brenton For thou hast been my helper, and in the shelter of thy wings will I rejoice. BSB BSB: For You are my help; I will sing for joy in the shadow of Your wings.
Brenton My soul has kept very close behind thee: thy right hand has upheld me. BSB BSB: My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me.
Brenton But they vainly sought after my soul; they shall go into the lowest parts of the earth. BSB BSB: But those who seek my life to destroy it will go into the depths of the earth.
Brenton They shall be delivered up to the power of the sword; they shall be portions for foxes. BSB BSB: They will fall to the power of the sword; they will become a portion for foxes.
Brenton But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that swears by him shall be praised; for the mouth of them that speak unjust things has been stopped. BSB BSB: But the king will rejoice in God; all who swear by Him will exult, for the mouths of liars will be shut.
